IPad says not charging but it is just slow

I have an iPad3?it says its not charging but it is just very slow it been charging for 12 hours but its. Only at 52%

PLug your charger to the wall socket. USB port generally do not supply enough current to charge the iPad.

My iPad says "not charging" when connected to my Mac, but it does seemo sync.  What am I missing?

A lot of computers (especially older ones) generally do not provide enough power to their USB ports to charge the iPad at a sufficient rate - it may still be charging slowly, and should be a bit quicker if the iPad's screen is off (if you leave it for a while and then disconnect it from your computer you may find that it's battery percentage has gone up). The wall charger is usually the most efficient way to charge the iPad.

  • Macbook pro says not charging but still the battery is charging

macbook pro says not charging but still the battery is charging

This isn't reference in any of the online support material that I've seen. Do you have a link to support this? Just curious is all.
I had a similar issue on my wife's '09 MBP. Initially I thought it was the battery seeing as it's an older machine, but we tried resetting the SMC (after a bunch of other suggestions) and that seems to have done the trick.

Read the KB article.  Make sure you are using the 10W adapter that came with the iPad or a High-Power USB 2.0 port.

  • Hi i just got my new ipad today and it was on i don't why but its new and when i plug it into my computer at the top of the ipad says not charging how can i make it charge?

new ipad won't charge but i can download everytthing but the top says not charging and its at 20%

That is perfectly normal with the new iPad. Your USB port does not supply enough power to charge the iPad. This is copied from Apple's web site about the iPad battery.
    Charging Tips
The quickest way to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter. When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge, but only when it's in sleep mode. Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
You can read the rest of it here.

  • Macbook says not charging, but is plugged in

I just picked up my MacBook from its repait at the Apple store. They replaced the bottom and middle aluminium pieces.
Right when I get home I plugged my computer in and it says that is not charging. The cable is plugged in but it says not charging. I have tried it with another charger and it also says the same thing so I know it is a problem with the computer.
I have tried resetting the PRAM and the SMC and still nothing works. My software is up to date. Is there anything else I can do to try to fix this before I have to take a trip to the Apple Store?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Keep it connected to the main and see what happens.
Resetting SMC was the right thing to do.
If it still remains at "not charging" you will have to take another trip to the Apple store.
    Best.

  • Powerbook Pro icon says not charging, but actually is

The icon on the top says "not charging" when plugged into AC adaptor. It actually is charging and periodicatlly says percentage, but then other times says not charging. Is the AC adaptor broken? Doesn't happen to my adaptor at home, only at work.

    The iPad charger is 10W
The iPhone charger is only 5W
Important to use thw 10W charger.
Try a reset. Hold the Sleep and Home button down (together) for about 10 seconds until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the red slider.

  • Charging issues - display says not charging - but actually is!

I have the O.G. version of ipad running ios5.1.1 and whenever I plug in the charger now - it says "charging device not supported", then battery display says "not charging" - not sure how to fix this, but if i leave it plugged into the computer instead of a wall socket it does very slowly trickle charge the battery.
Anyone have any suggestions about why it's doing this and how to fix it?
I have tried multiple different chargers in wall and different computers also with same result.

  • Ipad icon not charging but plugged correctly

My new ipad2 shows the  battery icon Not Charging but is correctly plugged, even tried different cables and into the wall and computer. Any hint ?

Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes.
There have been a few reports of defective wall chargers. Take it to the Apple Store for evaluation.

  • HT5012 Why my iPad says not charging..what can I do about this??

My iPad is connected to my lab top for the 1st time and it says "Not Charging" what can I do about this?

This is normal, as the USB ports on most computers do not provide sufficient current to charge the iPad properly. It is best to charge it with the included high power adapter.

  • Mid-2009 13" MBP says "not charging" but seems to be slowly charging with power adapter

I have a mid-2009 13" Macbook Pro with 8GB RAM.  I have the odd situation of the power indicator on top right of screen showing that the power adapter is plugged in, but the percentage indicator stating that the laptop is "not charging."  I have been working on the computer for several hours and the laptop has only charged to about 27 percent according to the battery health application that is runningI have.  It says the battery has gone through 281 cycles and is 2.4 years old.  It suggests the battery should still charge to 92 percent of its potential.  The battery is warm as is the power adapter cube, so something is happening.  The little light on the end of the power cord is green but only two of the little green dots light up on the left edge of the computer.
Any ideas if this is a battery, laptop, or power adapter problem?  Unfortunately, I don't have a second power adapter to test that idea.  Thanks for any suggestions.

Recalling another similar thread, I can recommend you thoroughly clean the male and female MagSafe connectors. The gold pins and pads must be shiny bright and totally debris free. Use a Q-Tip moistened with alcohol, disconnect the power brick beforehand. Also, make sure the rubberized area around the connector in the Mac, where the magnet lies and the steel ring around the cable connector nestles, is completely free of anything that can prevent the two from fully mating and ensuring a tight grip. Here's more info, look at the pics on #7: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1713  (click on the triangles to have them drop and show the pictures)

  • My iPad says "not charging " when I plug it into my computer or wall plug. How do I get it to charge

    What should I do?

Perhaps you could try using another cable if you have one available. There may be a problem with the one you are currently using. You could also try another wall socket as well and maybe your power adapter is bad. It could be any of these things.
Your computer more than likely doesn't supply enough power to charge the iPad battery and that is to be expected when trying to charge that way.
Sometimes something as simple as restarting or resetting can help fix things that suddenly go awry with the iPad so you could try those as well.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
If none of these things help it may be time to restore the device.

  • HT1766 When I connect my ipad to the charger and then plug in the charger to the wall or a computer, it says "not charging"

When I plug in my charger either to a computer or to an electrical outlet, my mini ipad says, "not charging".  Why isn't it charging?

USB ports on computers do not normally provide enough power to charge the iPad so its normal to get the Not charging legend.
When plugged to the wall using the provided Adapter it should charge normally.

  • Ipad 4 not charging with the ORIGINAL Power adapter that came in the box. Can't charge my iPad. I plugged in on PC all night and has been charged to 7%

Yesterday, as usual was going to charge my iPad, it was at 1%. Well, I took my ipad charger (original Apple official, I want to clarify that as a first step, I'm using the brand products than Apple) and plugged into an outlet ... The ipad began loading the first two minutes , then I got a notification telling me that the iPad could not charge with the charger.
I was quite surprised by the announcement. I disconnected and reconnected it .... again, I received the same notification. Then I disconnected and tried it on another outlet ... anything, yet. then I tried it on another outlet and ipad started charging. but after a while I had the same notice, not paying attention to that. I left it charging and I removed roughly 25% that of fear for something to happen. also remembered that situation (made 2-3 months ago where the iPad was not charging but after waiting a while disconnected, reconnected it and loaded normally).
so I decided to wait to re-connect the iPad to the outlet. This time, I plugged it into the outlet (fully discharged) at night and expected to find it loaded in the morning. But my surprise is that it still is off, it did not load anything.
I Bought the iPad in December 2012. Do you think that my iPad is hurt?
What can I do? Ay recommendation?
    Please, HELP ME!

Try giving your iPad a reset. Hold down the sleep and home keys until you see the silver apple. Let it reboot and try again.  You may also want to swap out the cable, just to confirm or rule out that it's bad.
If none of those fixes work, make the appointment at your apple store and have them check it out.
