IPad screen backlit but blank

I have struck a real problem with my iPad and I have tried everything to fix it.
The problem is as follows:
The screen is blank but is glowing with the backlight
After pushing the home button, if I slide my finger across the bottom of the screen I can here the click of the iPad unlocking but I still see nothing.  I can even get music to play by double clicking the home button and sliding it right.
If I hold the sleep/wake button down and then slide my finger across the area where the power off slider is, I get a brief glimpse of the power off slider, then a wiggly block of solid blue across the top of the screen (about 3-4mm high across the width of the whole screen).  I then get the usual power down spinning thing in the middle of the screen and the iPad powers off
When I hold down the sleep/wake button again I get a split second of the solid white apple logo in the middle of the screen which then flashes off leaving the screen backlit but blank.
iTunes detects the iPad as usual and gives no diagnostic sign that the iPad is in any way faulty
I have tried the following:
Powering up and down
Complete reboot using the home and sleep/wake buttons together.  This results in the iPad closing down like in 3 above and when I switch it on again (like item 4 above) I get the same result as in 4.
I have tried a complete restore of the iPad using iTunes.  This worked fine acording to iTunes but did not restore the screen to working order.
HELP!!

I have this same issue. My ipad charged overnight. When I came to turn it on in the morning, the screen was blank. If I turn it on and off I can see the backlight but the screen still shows nothing on it. I can hear a beep when I plug and unplug the power cord.  Have left it charging for longer but no luck. Have done a soft restart. When I plug in to itunes, it shows the ipad but when i click the ipad button, it disappears. Does not do anything.
I really hope this isn't a hardware issue because this thing is not very old. (Well, old enough that warranty is no good but less than 2 years).
Any advice would be appreciated.  Thank you!

  • Why is my ipad screen black or blank

I pushed the home button on my ipad 2 and the screen light up but it was blank. Why is it doing this and can I fix it? I tried to hold down the sleep button and the home button to reset and this did not work. I also tried to just turn the device off but the red slider wouldn't even appear.

    FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
    1. Turn off iPad
    2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
    3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
    4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
    5. Release Home button.
    ON COMPUTER
    6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
    7. Select "Restore iPad"...
    Note:
    1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
    2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.
    3. Repeat the process if necessary.

  • My ipad turns in but will not boot up. screen stays blank. I've tried resetting it and rebooting from itunes. It says it is done but the screen still stays blank. The apple icone will show up intermittetly.

I turned on my ipad after charging it and the screen went blank. I tried the home button and on off button and that did not help. I went to iTunes and rebooted the ipad and restored it and it asked me to reboot from the ipad but the screen is still blank. It will go to a blue screen if I hit the on/off button. What else is there to check?

If you restored the iPad, there is nothing else to check. I suggest that you make an appointment at an Apple Store Genius Bar and let them evaluate your iPad.

I have also reset my iPad via iTunes but now the screen is blank but it's flashes white and you can vaguely see hello, hallo in all different languages. Can anyone please help?

    Is it fully charged?
The computer usb port will not charge it.  Plug it into an outlet with the charger that came with it for a few hours & try again.

Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
    Or
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • IPad has backlight but no video on screen

It is a 1st gen iPad, and the screen still appears to work.  When I power it on, the Apple logo appears, and the screen is backlit, but after it gets done booting there is no image on the screen.  Sound still works fine, and touch response swill works as well.  I've tried holding down the power button and home button to do a reset to no avail.  Anyone have any suggestions?

Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.

  • Outlook mail being received but blank screen when I open the app

Outlook mail being received but blank screen when I open the app

This seems to be going on around here for a couple of days. I have seen several discussions about the mail app opening to a bank screen with different variations and issues after the blank screen appears. I wish I could say that my suggestion is the definitive fix, but I can't. Give it a try anyway and see what happens.
Close the mail app completely and reset your iPad. Not data will be lost.
In order to close the mail app, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the mail app then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Next, reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • My iPad screen is blue and blank. It will not respond to restarting

My iPad screen is blue and blank. It will not respond to restarting. The apple logo does not appear. The screen switches from a dark blue (as if it's on) to black (as if it's off). But will not reset and will not turn off. Any advice?

    Because you forgot the passcode?
You have to restore the device using iTunes. You want to use the same computer that you always sync with so that you can restore your app data and settings. You can restore with any other computer, but you will lose everything on the iPad.
    Instructions can be found here.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1212
You may need to restore using Recovery Mode. You can read about it here.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4097
    Recovery Mode Instructions
Disconnect the USB cable from the iPad, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off iPad: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for iPad to turn off.
If you cannot turn off iPad using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the iPad turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to iPad. When you reconnect the USB cable, iPad should power on.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears you can release the Home button.
If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the recovery mode alert that iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode.
    Use iTunes to restore iPad.
But ...if you are saying that the slide to unlock bar is not working and this has nothing to do with the iPad being disabled .... Reboot your iPad.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

    Perform a Reset... Try again...
Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)
    Release the Buttons...
