Ipad screen resolution

Hi all,
I had developed a app (not a game) an elearning content with the size 940(w)x620(h). When I published the content for ipad, it shows the white spaces with the size of 1024x768. How to avoid that remaining spaces over on the app? Is it possible to run the app in a specific size like a popup?

You are correct.
Try this with a wifi connection. Open Safari and use this URL for YouTube:

You can toggle between SD and HD videos on YouTube.

  • Original iPad screen resolution

    I've noticed that since I upgraded my wifi to xfiniti blast, super fast wifi, my original iPad screen resolution is much crisper, and clearer, cleaner...
    Is the screen resolution and images on original iPad affected by a stronger , faster wif signal?
    Or is it sometimes not as crisp and clear due to overheating?

    Are you using a cloud-based browser like Opera or iSwifter? This is the only way I can conceive your Internet connection affecting clarity.

  • Is your iPad screen resolution good enough?

    I'm just curious. I don't have an iPad, but I am thinking about getting an iPad2 WiFi. I really like my retina display on my iPhone 4, but playing with friends iPads I don't seem to care much about the resolution difference. But, since I've only used one for +/- 10 minutes total maybe screen resolution is something that annoys you later?
    Everything I have been reading about the screen is a complaint about it not having retina display. Some people are so upset they're going to wait until a model with a better res comes out before buying their first iPad. That seems dramatic to me. I think people are asking for everything, but want the price point of half that. So, is your iPad screen resolution good enough for you? Or is it a LEGITIMATE problem that interferes with usability.

    Everything I have been reading about the screen is a complaint about it not having retina display
    And the complaint is only that it does not have one.
    It's not that the current display is poor and it needs to be better.

    Just tried this...did not work. Resolution is still horrible. This is not an issue of it just not looking smooth or sharp.  It's so much worse than that.  It was actually fine right after the update.  The next morning when I turned it on it was messed up.

  • IPad mini (Retina) Screen Resolution 1024 or 2048?

    I received my new iPad mini yesterday and noticed when using Safari to test a web app that I'm working on that it was reporting the iPads screen res as 1024 x 768, however in the specs it says that it has a screen res of 2048x1536. Checked with a few screen res checking site and they all said the same.
    Have I been sent the wrong iPad or am I missing something?

    Appreciate the replies Diavonex, however it's not just the checking websites, it's my own code that I know works reporting it as 1024, and sites that I know are optimised for 1024 are showing full screen on the iPad, when if the screen was truly 2048 there would be whitespace to the sides - try bbc.co.uk - full screen no border on iPad, but on Mac Mini with HD monitor (reporting the screen size as 1920 x 1080) there is lots of whitespace.
    I agree all the documentation from Apple states 2048, and the screen is indeed very clear when you zoom in, however industry standard screen tests (JavaScript screen.width) indicate it is 1024. I was expecting to find an * in the specs next to screen res with some caveat about apple having their own definition of screen res but I can't find anything.

    JIm, you can make the text larger....look at the Interface Tab on the Preferences menu and you'll see several different Font size options (although there are less on OSX apparently). Make a selection, then close and restart Lightroom for the change to take effect.

  • My ipad screens apple picture keeps blinking and will not open

    my ipad screens apple picture keeps blinking and will not open. I have tried pressing both top and bottom button together, pressing just the top, etc. and nothing...it just keeps blinking the apple?

    Hello llp03,
    Thanks for the question, that definitely sounds frustrating. The following troubleshooting assistant provides steps that may lead to a resolution:
    Apple - Support - iPad - iPad Troubleshooting Assistant
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipad/assistant/ipad/
    If the above steps do not resolve the issue, or the if the screen remains black or shows a persistent Apple logo, try restoring with iTunes
    - Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
    - If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane. Learn more about restoring iOS software.
    - If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try to force the device into recovery mode.

  • Images: Different screen resolutions, howto ...?

    As you might know, there are several screen resolutions, used by different devices (iPhone 3G/3GS/4, iPad).  You might take a look at: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2993006/designing-for-varying-mobile-device-resolutions -i-e-iphone-4-iphone-3g  An example: If i would like to build a generic app, with optimized images for the iPhone 3G/3GS, 4 and iPad, how can i implement the images within my application with the use of different screen resolutions (dpi). 3G: image_low_res.jpg, 4: image_high_res.jpg etc.  Is there a better overview for iOS devices showing the exact resolution (dpi)?

    In objectiveC/XCode, you would have two images - one at standard size, and one at double resolution for the retina display. The double-resultion image has a '@2x' suffix just before extension. The OS automaticallt uses the correct image depending on the type of phone (i.e. it uses the @2x image on the iPhone4, and the original image everywhere else).
    Of course this doesn't help us in Flash.  I don't think Adobe have built this feature in to the packager?
    Perhaps a good way to achieve the same results is to have the application detect the phone type on startup/constructor by checking the screen size (Capabilities.screenResolutionX/Y).  Then, whenever you need a screen coordinate, distance or an image, you have a custom class (probably static methods) that you ask for this information.
    It seems like a lot of work, but if you are really keen on supporting the retina display, this is probably your best bet!
    Psuedo code:
    // Two images in the library
    // spriteA.png
    // [email protected]
    // All my coordinates are measured in original iPhone coords (320x480)
    // I am now asking for a point in the middle of the screen
    // If I am on iPhone4, the resulting point will be (320,480)
    // If I am on iPhone, the resulting point will be (160,240)
    var p : Point = ResHandler.createPoint( 160, 240 );
    // Now I grab my bitmap
    // If I am on iPhone, the resulting bitmap will be spriteA.png
    // If I am on iPhone4, the resulting bitmap will be [email protected]
    var b : Bitmap = ResHandler.createBitmap( 'spriteA' );
    // Now place the bitmap
    b.x = p.x;
    b.y = p.y;
    addChild( b );
    // Now move the bitmap by 100 pixels.
    // If I am on iPhone the resulting distance will be 100 pixels
    // If I am on iPhone4, the resulting distance will be 200 pixels
    var d : Number = ResHandler.getDistance( 100 );
    b.x += d;
    Hope it helps

  • IPad Retina Resolution - PPI issue

    Hi All,
    I am really struggling to get my head around what is going on in my document.
    I am in process of creating a page for iPad. it only has to be a single PDF which will then go off into a magazine (publishing company will be doing this).
    Now the iPads all have different resolutions and PPI abilities. The original iPad and iPad 2 are 1024px x 768px @ 132ppi and the iPad Retina is 2048px x 1536px @ 264ppi.
    (See - http://www.apple.com/ipad/compare/ for specs).
    Now my issue has arrisen after I have tried creating a document in inDesign with the settings of 1024px x 768px @72ppi (default & unchangeable ppi settings).
    I create my image which ive made large enough & dense enough to ensure quality at the top end iPad. This image is at size 2172px x 1536px @ 528ppi (.
    When I place the image into the document at its full size, it is tiny inside the document. You can see this in the attached screenshot.
    Can someone please tell me what is going on, pixel wise and what I should be doing to create a document suitable for its prerequisites.
    Many thanks,
    Tim

    Now my issue has arrisen after I have tried creating a document in inDesign with the settings of 1024px x 768px @72ppi (default & unchangeable ppi settings).
    While placed images do have a pixel resolution, Indesign documents do not. So, when you make a new document with the Intent set at Web or Digital Publishing you get pixels as the initial measurement units, but you are free to change them after the doc is created.
    For measurement purposes Indesign assumes there are 72 pixels in an inch—obviously that's no the case for most monitors and tablets. The Link panel's effective pixels per inch reading is relative to the page dimension in inches. So, if you accept the iPad 1024x768 preset and change the measurement settings to inches you'll get 14.22" x 10.66" almost twice the size of the iPad's physical dimensions.
    If I scale up a 264ppi image to fill the page on a 14.22" x 10.66" page I get an effective ppi of 144, but when the page is eventually displayed on the smaller 7.7" x 5.8" iPad screen the effective res will go back up to 264ppi.
