IPad screen totally blank/black

I have read several posts regarding "Black Screen" but I can't seem to find anything like the issue I am having.
Problem - Screen is black. As far as I can tell there is no back light or any dim imagery on the screen. Screen totally blank.
Tried these solutions:
-Sleep/wake reset
-Sleep/wake + Home reset
-Full recharge
-Updated OS
-Restore from iTunes
Additional information:
iPad is still recognized and syncs when connected via USB to computer and iTunes. Was able to sync and run full restore from iTunes. The iPad still "chimes" when plugged in to power source. Was able to add/remove content in iTunes with no issues. As far as I can tell the iPad seems to be on and functioning but the screen is just completely black. Any thoughts....?

I would say it's probably a hardware problem, i.e. a defective backlight.
I assume you have the brightness turned up? Go outside in the sunlight and see if you can see any of the screen image.

Reset your iPad (nothing will be lost): Hold down the Home and Power buttons at the same time and continue to hold them down until the Silver Apple appears (up to 30 seconds). Once the Home screen redisplays, see if all is well.

If the reset doesn't do it then it's possible that the backlight or another part of your screen has broken. Unfortunately it's not really user servicible. I'd make an appointment at your local apple store and have them check it out. If your device is still under warranty and they don't determine that the damage was the result of 'abuse or neglect' (their words) then it could be a free replacement.
I'd just do a backup before you take it in, just in case.

Try restarting
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the home button together until the apple logo appears (ignore the ON/OFF slider) then let both buttons go and wait for phone to restart (no data will be lost).

My daughters ipad was working with out issue and then its screen went blank, you can see the creen change from blank to a lighter black but no apple ssymbol or anything is visable. the alarm still works but can not be turned off.

Just bought my iPad 3, screen goes blank frequently, even after rebooting and /or closing and opening app? Any ideas?

It goes without saying that it should not do that. What exactly though does "it goes blank" mean? Do you get a white screen, a black screen? What is a blank screen?

I have an original iPad , the screen CONSTANTLY goes black and back to home screen. I have reset many times, nothing works and it is getting worse.
Any ideas?

I would drain the battery all the way down until the ipad shuts off and then do a full charge without using it.
On the ipad go into Settings, general and check if you have any software updates. Then look at the top right side of the screen and the battery should be at 100% or 99% or in that area. If its lower then 95-90% then you may need a new battery.
Under general go down to "Auto-Lock" ......switch that to "never"
From general go down to "Safari" and tap on 'Clear history" and "Clear Cookies and Data"......this clears this from the safari browser. This "DOES NOT" remove anything from the ipad. This data is related to cookies and webpage data from web pages you visited, thats it. Its the same as clearing the cache on your home computer browser.
Try to open safari again and go to a google page and see what happens. If it stays open then it may be related to the page your trying to open on the ipad. Try and go to msn, apple webpages and see if they work ok.
If these all work ok then its possible it may have been the page you were on. If it was a secure page you were on like a bank or financial page, they may log you out after a few minutes of non use. With these type pages using the keyboard to type is not considered "Using" the page and at the time limit you get logged out. These pages pick up mouse movement to see that your still using the page.
One other thing may be closing safari is if you have something else on the ipad working. Some other app with incoming data, stock app, text app or if a download finishes for example. You will know if this is the issue because if safari closes and you open it back up and its where you were at.
FYI - Each time you open safari, it will open a new homepage screen (by default). So you will have any pages you had before plus a new homescreen tab. Just close this new homescreen tab and it should bounce back to the last page you were on because the tab should still be open.

Try closing the Camera app:
1. Double-click the Home button to reveal the Task Bar
2. Hold down the Camera app for a second or two until you see the minus sign
3. Tap the minus sign to close app
4. Tap area above Task Bar to return to Home screen

Hello, I unplugged my computer. Took out the ram to see what kind I needed to order. I wanted to add more. When I put it back in and turned it on I get a blank screen or it has an orange line up and down in the middle of the screen. I changed the ram, I pushed the reset button, I did the Command, Option, P, and R and it reset it and I heard the start up sound the second time. I can log in even I cant see the screen and I pushed play on the keyboard and I can listen to my music. But I have nothing on the screen. Thanks

IPad screen almost completely black

I have an iPad 1 which I use frequently.
This morning, and I don't know why, almost the entire screen of the iPad became black.
If you rotate the iPad the "black side" of the screen rotates also, so that the "black side" of the screen is always at the bottom.
Does anyone here know the problem or can give me a tip what to do to solve the screen issue?

Try a hard reset; hold the Sleep and Home buttons until it reboots, ignoring the red slider.
If it persists, you could try booting it into Recovery Mode and restoring. Be sure to take a backup first.
After that, you'll need to take it to an Apple Store. As it's out of warranty, there'll be a flat fee to replace it.
