Ipad screen wont appear

Hello community,
                         I am borderline insane having tried to resolve this problem so if anyone can help I will be extremely grateful.
The issue:
Whilst browsing ebay my ipad1 suddenly blanked out leaving a grey screen and being completely unresponseive.
My actions:
1. I have attempted reset many times and simply get a split second flash on screen of Apple logo then it stays in grey screen mode.
2. I have downloaded latest iTunes and restored Ipad which on PC screen shows as successful - iTunes recognises ipad and shows me content (nothing due to restore) and also shows a selection of apps. I cannot transfer them to the ipad from this screen either by dragging across or selecting them and clicking sync.
3. I have seen on screen graphics and icons since crash e.g. apple icon briefly and also graphic of usb cable when I connected to PC holding home button so I presume the screen itself is not at fault.
Is there anything else I can do or is this one simply for the bin!!??
Thank you all

  • New iPad screen wont rotate

    I have tried to reset the iPad and have tried turning the rotate lock on and off, but the iPad still will not rotate. Do I need to bring it to a service center for repair? Or is there something I am missing? Please help. This is very frustrating!

    Is there a lock symbol at the top of the screen next to the battery indicator ? If so, then depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (rotation lock or mute notifications), then you can lock/unlock the rotation by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and it's the icon far left; press home again to exit the taskbar. The function that isn't on the side switch is set via the taskbar instead : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4085
    If there isn't a lock symbol then try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • Screen wont appear although computer recognizes it

    my iphone was on airplane setting for about 24 hours. I then turned it to normal mode, it worked for about 30 minutes then went blank. After that i could not turn it on, or restart it. I plugged it into the charger and it vibrated, showed the charge screen and then went blank again. I tried to repeat this process with no luck. I then connected it to my laptop and the computer recognized the iphone but still couldnt get the sccreen to appear. Any ideas for how to fix it?

    You can try resetting the phone (restarting it). Hold down the sleep (top) button and the home button for about 10 seconds (if you have the iPhone connected to a computer you will hear it disconnect). After that, press down the sleep button for about 2 seconds and see if the black screen and white apple appear, this means that the iPhone is booting.
    If that doesn't work, you'll want to open up iTunes and create a backup of the iPhone by right clicking on the iPhone icon on the left panel and selecting backup. Next, you'll want to make sure that you save all the pictures that you took with the camera, because the backup doesn't save these. Once this is done, you'll want to restore the phone's firmware, which will wipe out everything on the iPhone. If you look in the right pane of iTunes under the iPhone section, there is a Restore button underneath the Summary tab, click this and wait for iTunes to reinstall the firmware on your iPhone. If you're phone is working properly after this, you can now restore the backup to your iPhone and you'll have to add your pictures from the Photos tab in iTunes back onto your camera.
    If neither of those work, make an appointment with the Genius Bar at an apple store to have them look at it.

    My Ipad screen randomly went black and wont turn on....Help

    Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430

    Try to backup and restore you device in itunes...restoring the device is like removing the iOS software off the device and re-add in a newer software, after you have restore you device, MAKE SURE YOU SET UP YOUR DEVICE LIKE A NEW DEVICE, DONT NOT RESTORE FROM BACKUP!!... give the device a chance to use the newer software and see if the issue still persisting, if the issue still on going then its would be a hardware issue.
    Call Apple Care and see if your device is still under warranty to get it replace

    Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school enviroment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    ‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
    Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
    I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
    Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
    If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.

  • GoLive running but wont appear on screen problem

    I have a weird problem running Adobe GoLive (version 8) on Windows 7 - the program runs but wont appear on screen. I don't get this issue with any other
    program and until this happened a few days ago the program worked fine on Windows 7.
    When it's started, the 'title box' with logo and version number etc appears on screen and the icon appears on the taskbar, but no program appears on
    screen.  It doesn't matter how many times I click on this, it wont appear on screen.   If I hit Alt-Ctrl-Del and bring up Task Manager I can see it's
    running in the Applications tab and I can also see it's process running on the processes tab too.
    I thought maybe it had gone 'off screen' so I used all the Windows 7 tips on how to bring progs back on screen but nothing works.  Interestingly, when I hover
    over it's icon on the taskbar, and hold shift whilst clicking it to try to bring up the old-style maximise and minimise options, nothing appears -
    although this works with every other application.
    I use two screens, so I tried changing the display to use just one - makes no difference.
    I then uninstalled GoLive, rebooted and installed it again - makes no difference.
    Any idea why this would happen?

    Make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
    1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
    2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
    Click to view full size
    3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
    NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
    NOTE:  In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

  • Incomings calls wont appear on screen with IOS8.1

    After installing IOS 8.1 when somebody is calling me, the call wont appear on the screen even when the phone is unlocked. (the phone vibrates and sounds the ringtone when called)
    Somebody having the same problem?

    Hi, lizhou888.
    Thank you for visitng Apple Support Communities.
    Here are some troubleshooting steps that I would recommend going through.
    Screen won't lock or go black when answering calls
    Verify mute or speaker have not been activated, just prior to placing your ear over the receiver.
    While on a call hold your hand over the top third of the display, and verify that the screen is locked or goes to sleep.
    Try turning iPhone off and then on again.

    I have a thin black line that appears on my iPad screen. Is my iPad defective?

    It could be having issues. If that line appears across apps(as in in more than one app, and even when you're not in an app) , try resetting the device by holding down the home and sleep key, past the power down slider, and until you see the silver apple. Let it reboot and see if the line persists. If it does, your next stop should be the apple store and let them take a look at it. Issues with the display like that are often beyond simple user fixes.
