Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPad?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after It shuts down, press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds).
No data will be lost.

Ok,i am replying to my question and i have found the solution!
I had set my auto lock to never and when i changed the auto lock to 15 minutes all my problems went away.It's been a week and my problem with the screen going black and not beign able to make any changes while listening to the music app has not come back.
Hopefully whomever reads this and has the same problem just follow my example and you should be fine.

By restart do you mean reset?

Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

mini ipad model md543ll/a OS 8.1.3 (12b466) the screen keeps freezing, if you turn off the on it works only for a few seconds. I have updated software and reset to factory settings. I backed everything up and restored. did not fix the problem. Please help

When I'm using gestures, swiping from app to app in multitasking, or pinching the screen to return to the home screen my ipad freezes. The only way to get it unstuck is to reboot. This happens constantly since upgrading to ios7. Never happened before that.
What is the issue?

Yes, we all know how to get out of the situation by forcing a restart, but what is the problem causing the freezing?
Perhaps the bug will be fixed someday.
I have been experimenting. Go to Settings>General>Accessibility>Reduce Motion. Turn Reduce Motion to ON.
I played around with Pinching to Home Screen from different apps and so far no freeze. Swiping between apps never caused the freeze for me. I have several screen shots of freezes, BTW.

Please tell me that it has NEVER been jailbroke. If it hasn't been, here are some standard repair procedures:
First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. It could take well over an hour! Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore (or it doesn't help), go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here. You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again. Also, if you have IOS-7, read this.

Doing the reset is a common fix, so any time your device is acting up, giving it a reset is the first thing to do.

Is there a way to hide the bookmarks bar in iOS 8 on the iPad? It takes up a large part of the screen when in landscape mode

Since I upgraded to iOS8, my iPad screen permanently shows the bookmarks bar down the left. This means I can only use about ⅔ of the screen when in landscape mode. Is there something I am missing which allows me to hide/show the bookmarks bar? Thanks

Have you tried to reset it? Hold down the sleep and home keys for about 20 seconds and see if you can get it to reboot.

Try force iPad into Recovery Mode. Follow step 1 to 6 very closely.
