Ipad searched email list won't allow delete/filing etc?

I use imap to sync with gmail on my ipad, iphone and imac. On the ipad when I do a search and create a sublist of emails that meet the search criteria I can't delete, or file the emails from the sublist!? All of the icons become light gray shadows. Using my finger to slide across to raise the red delete button doesn't work either. Confusing since I CAN do this on my iphone? Really important for efficienct filing/clearing of emails! Any suggestions?

Quit the mail app completely and reboot the iPad. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the recents tray will appear with all of your recent apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
If the draft email is corrupt, you can delete it from the preview pane on the left side of the mail app by swiping across the preview and that will bring up the red delete button. That way you will not have to open the draft and take a chance on freezing the mail app again.

iOS 8.2 still won't allow deletion of ALL email messages at once from my iPad? What could be the reason for this? The work-around solutions I see on Internet work erratically for me.
I'm an Android cellphone user so can delete all emails from my phone with a click or two. Is that a patent issue for Apple? There is no way to delete ALL email messages easily?

Had the same problem. There is an undocumented way under another thread and it works, but is clunky and very un-Mac-like.

MARK ALL AS READ (for me and several others in the thread it only works, when I marked all as read)
Highlight first email
Hold move button
Try to unhighlight first email (probably won't )
Still holding move button pull down on mails and then try to unhighlight first email again
This time it should
You will notice the inbox seems frozen as move is no longer highlighted and individual emails will not highlight if you touch them
Wait May take a minute or two depending on how many emails are in your inbox but they will move to the right side
Then just touch trash

Phantom Blank Emails in my email list? I cant delete them?

I have these emails that have no subect or text in them, but they show up as black spaces in my email list, and I cannot delete them? What do I do?

One more issue too that may be related to FREE POPS is that my yahoo account is somtimes downloading all the emails it has downloaded previously that I have deleted.....I can get 100 emails in a matter of minutes without getting one new one.
Also my free pops just stopped sending emails (yahoo acct), all of the sudden isnt able to send emails, says i need to pick another outgoing server???
Any suggestions?

Added iCloud to ipad but now iTunes won't allow downloads. Error message: cannot connect to iTunes

I can open iTunes but if I click to download any app an error message pops up stating cannot connect to iTunes please try again later. I reset my Wifi router n deleted address and reset it on ipad, iTunes password reset then updated on ipad, restarted devices and still nothing. I just added iCloud to my ipad and it may have an incompatibility problem and all my phones and iPods don't get an error message and downloading completes no problem. Please help,

Activation Lock is doing exactly what it was designed to do - preventing a non-owner from using the device as their own.
But why just "throw it away"? The dealership should be willing to tuck it away in their lost and found, as the owner may well show up looking for it?

Well, if you search this site you will find some instructions on how to edit the registry to correct this error for versions 8.x through to 10. However, those instructions don't fix v11, which I'm using.In my case the "Field Tree" wouldn't dock. I fixed it by adding what appeared to be a missing REG_DWORD entry called 'Docking' here:HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Business Objects\Suite 11.0\Crystal Reports\Formula Workshop\Formula\ToolBar-Bar4I created the REG_DWORD 'Docking', gave it a value of 1 and voila! - I could dock the Field Tree again. I suspect ToolBar-Bar2 & -3 are the Functions and Operators Tree.If you use this solution, you do so at your own risk. I only fiddled to this extent because I was one step away from re-installing and I didn't really care if I fouled the program operation up completely.I'm amazed this bug hasn't been fixed though.

I have an IPad 2 and it won't allow app updates, it says I have the wrong pin code.. What is causing this??!!

I have had my iPad for almost a year but now it's acting up! Everytime I try to download or update an app, a message pops up to sign in but then says I have wrong pin for debit card.. Sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>Store>Sign in again.
Maybe refreshing your ID and iTunes account on the iPad will help.

IPad 2 email app won't run

Just recently upgraded to 7.0.4 and now my email app will not run. When I run the app, the email window briefly pops up for about a second and then closes. I've tried killing the app in the taskbar and I've also did a respring and a reboot and nothing has helped. Anyone have any ideas?

Iphone email i can read email but unable to respond, delete forward etc as botto of screen is just a blank blue line ie. no options ?

UPDATE (13-Jan 2015): Took my phone do a different AppleStore and had an appointment with a Genius. The Genius hinted that I should call AppleCare (1-800-APL-CARE) and tell them my story. He said that it was not possible for him to do it, but that by escalating the problem to AppleCare that they may help. I was on the phone with a rep and his supervisor for about an hour before they told the Genius to replace my phone as a one-time out-of-warranty replacement. They stated that because the phone was working fine before the update, and showed no damage, that they would grant my request. Yay Apple for making this right!
This is a known bug, error 101 or something. Only solution they have at the moment is warranty replacement.

If the old ID is yours, and if your new ID was created by editing the details of this old ID (rather than being an entirely new ID), go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll. When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was. Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

Server won't allow relaying

Any time I try to send an E mail from my iPad I get "server won't allow relaying and your message is saved to your outbox". Any ideas.

Try going into Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > select the account > account name , tap on SMTP (under the 'Outgoing Mail Server' heading) and then tap on your Primary Server and try entering your email account and password and see if it then works

Entourage will not allow Delete file messages to be opened and deleted

I have allowed my delete to get to large. Now Entourage won't allow Delete file to be opened; when attempted, it says, "file cannot be opened, not enough memory". How can I open to Delete file to delete messages?

You should be able to check by opening the Attachments panel on the left (paperclip icon) and looking at the file extension.

Hello.. I'm seeing all my emails from all my accounts located in the "spotlight search" feature of my iPad and iPhone4. What's most troubling is, there are emails that have previously been deleted. I have confirmed over and over that all trash folders for accounts are emptied as well as all other folders.. I empty the trash very regularly. When I select an email from the list in the spotlight screen, it will take me to an in box for that email where it may or may not exist.. Often it opens another persons email all together.. The bottom line is that I can not delete these emails and it's very nerve racking... Any help is greatly appreciated. Than you..

Thank Goodness for Time Machine. I was able to restore from a recent back up.
However as a follow up I now have a glitch in that Icloud email will only restore from oldest to newest. My Icloud.com account is fine. All my email are in chronological order from newest to oldest.
With the help of support from this site I was able to confirm that the problem is not resolved by disabling mail and then enabling again or even from deleting the Icloud Email Account and then reloading. It is exactly the same.
The only way I can get yesterday's email on my devices is to load 5000 emails starting back in 2010.
I think I caused a glitch when I was restoring from Time Machine. It was late at night and it was taking a long time so I went to bed thinking it would just continue on. Well i should have taken my computer out of Sleep Mode because my Imac must have powered down somehow causing the glitch.
Although you would think that I would also have a corrupted email account on Icloud.com
who knows....... the reason why i tend to live with problems rather than correct them because i hate it when stuff like this happens when you do................
