IPad security after visiting a hacked site
This morning I clicked on a link in an email from a website I have used for months. The site opened up in safari as hacked. I couldn't close it, so I shut down my iPad. After turning it back on, I went into Safari and was able to close that tab before it fully loaded.
Is my iPad secure? Is there an app I can download to scan for malware and other security?
Is my iPad secure?
Yes.
Is there an app I can download to scan for malware and other security?

Afetr visiting approx 5 sites Safari freezes. I thewn toggle the wifi button in settings or some time carry out a reboot. Safari then works OK for another 5 or so sites and freezes again. I am working close by the router so signal strength is not a problem. What can I do to fix this problem
I experienced this problem occasionally in the past. What I would do is quit Safari like I describe below.
Double click the Home button to show the screen with running and recently used apps. Each app icon will have a sample page above it. Flick up on the page (not the app icon) and the page will fly away and the app icon will disappear. This quits that app.
I then just started Safari again and it seemed to work correctly.
After the update to iOS 7.1 however, this problem has disappeared from my iPad. -

I have visited a web site which wouldn't let me quit without responding ok to a question even tho I tried to avoid it. Now I can't quit safari or turn my computer off. Please help. Feel like I've been bugged!
Force Quit it. Right click on the Safari icon on the Dock and while holding down Option, click on Force Quit.
Either that or Click the Apple icon and click on shutdown while holding down Option key.
Or launch Activity Monitor from your Utilities and find Safari and end the process. -

h.davidHi,
As I known, the Malicious Software Removal Tool removes only specific prevalent malicious software. Specific prevalent malicious software is a small subset of all the malicious software that exists today. if malicious software infected the computer before
you installed an up-to-date antivirus program, your antivirus program may not detect this malicious software until the tool tries to remove it.
To remove NationZoom, you should preform the following steps in the correct order:
1. Uninstall Nation Zoom malicious programs from your computer
2. Remove Nation Zoom from Internet Explorer (Interner option > Reset Internet Explorer settings), Firefox and Chrome
3. Clean up the various Windows shortcuts that have been hijacked by Nation Zoom virus
These are the default shortcut path that should be in your Target box, if the Nation Zoom argument is in there, then you should remove it. For Internet Explorer: “C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe” for Windows 32-bit or “C:\Program Files\Internet
Explorer (x86)\iexplore.exe” for Windows 64-bit.
4. Remove Nation Zoom browser hijacker from your computer with Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool
5. Remove Nation Zoom virus with your Malwarebytes Anti-Malware
6. Double-check for the Nation Zoom infection with Microsoft Security Essentials (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/security-essentials-download)
For system restore, System Restore can return your computer's system files and settings to an earlier point in time using a restore point. These restore points contain information about registry settings and other system information that Windows uses.

Hope it helps.

I am using apple configerator. I am unable to prepare or supervise 1 ipad. After preparing, I get an error that says "refresh completed but with an error, unable to verify supervision state" . I have erased all content and set up as a new ipad and tried again with no success. Any help would be appreciated
Hello jaybearden,
Thanks for the question. After reviewing your post, it sounds like you are not able to restore the iOS device since you get an error 9. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help the issue.

Me manque t'il une application?
Qd je clique sur télécharger (sur le site), il ne me propose que la phototèque ou bibliothèque! Pas un fichier sur Adobe Pdf!What is the web browser that you use on your iPad? Safari, Chrome, or Firefox?
The problem does not appear to be related to Adobe Reader for iOS.
Please note that iOS (the operating system on your iPad/iPhone) does not provide a File Browser (like Windows Explorer for Windows or Finder for Mac on desktop). You are not able to specify where you download a file to on iOS.
I'd recommend visiting the web site on a Windows/Mac desktop computer to download a file and transfer it to your iPad for viewing. -
Please,I want to stop users from visiting particular wensites while connected to the internet. How do I configure Firefox to automatically stop users from visiting such dangerous sites?
Thanks, Ronda! I haven't been able to try your suggestion because I fried my router! So I need to get a new wireless router before proceeding.
(I may start a new thread about getting a new router, but I will look for answers first to my questions and only start one if I cannot find answers.)
After I get a new router, I will try what you suggested and report back here. -
"HT4199: iOS and OS X: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points"
this still didn't fix iPad connectivity after updating to iOS 6.0.1 !!! intermittent wi-fi connection, even with a direct line-of-sight to the router. Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
• Launch Settings app
• Tap on Wi-Fi
• Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
• In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

I am working on Security scan(to avoid cross site forgery) with the CSRF approach of tomcat(apache-tomcat-6.0.32) but I am getting following issue with firefox:
1. Firefox is not supporting CSRF provided by tomcat in a proper way firefox creating multiple sessions.
2. Whenever any exception (like JSP exception) comes on page. Firefox redirects it to CSRFPreventionFilter and this filter creates new session.
3. Sometimes while traversing through application also CSRFPreventionFilter filter creates new session.I seem to have fixed it by putting <div class="clearfloat"></div> after the navigation bar?

IPad security When taking to the Apple store for repairs
I'm taking my iPad to the Apple store today. I'm logged onto most of my social sites, etc. How do I make my iPad secure so no one looks at my photos or any other info like my emails when it goes in for repair.
Granted my experience was best buy, not an apple store, but I returned my iPad a couple of years ago because it had an issue. Best Buy exchanged it and before I gave them my old one I asked and they let me go in and 'erase all content and settings', which wiped it clean.
Apple and Best Buy do have strict rules about customer data but they don't and can't make promises, probably due to liability issues. So doing it yourself is the one way to make sure, and I have yet to run into any store person that wouldn't allow the user to wipe the device.
If the employee balks, ask to talk to a manager and just tell them you want it wiped. You should have no issue at all. Honestly, I don't think they want access to your data any more than you want them to have it. -
why is my ipad blinking after installing ios8 and when trying to restore, ipad is not recignised?
Hey weepanda,
Here is the info I found on error 3194:
Error 1004, 1013, 1638, 3014, 3194: These errors may be the result of the connection to gs.apple.com being redirected or blocked. Follow these steps to resolve these errors:
Install the latest version of iTunes.
Check security software and ensure that communication to gs.apple.com is allowed. Follow these stepsfor assistance with security software.
Check the hosts file. The restore will fail if there is an active entry to redirect gs.apple.com. Follow theadvanced iTunes Store troubleshooting steps to edit the hosts file or revert to a default hosts file. See "Blocked by configuration: (Mac OS X/Windows) > Rebuild network information."
Try to restore from another known-good computer and network.
If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.

Firefox locks computer visiting random web site
I've read the various emails about the problem and none helped. My situation is as follows:
Firefox locks computer when visiting a web site (random). This morning, it was:
http://m.mlb.com/news/article/118394026/good-as-gold-rockies-nolan-arenado-makes-fantastic-catch
I've revisited it a couple of times since with no problems. Only happens once, maybe twice per day. I've found I can unlock the computer doing the following (whether it's all necessary, don't know yet, still experimenting):
do CTL-ALT-DEL a few times
hit ESC a few time
hit the comptuer off button (not holding down, just push and release)
following steps sometimes gets the desired effect without going to the next one
close the lid
re-open
tap off button
Maybe it's lack of patience on my part, possible it's not all necessary. Eventually, the computer goes into hibernation and shuts down. Re-open it, enter BIOS and Windows passwords, and it's all back to normal.
I have NO add-ons, 2 extensions:
Avast Online Security 10.2.0.187
LastPass 3.1.54
Wouldn't swear to it, but problem seemed to start with last Firefox update, 37.0.1. I have Windows 7.

Virus try to brute-force my unlock screen pin on iPad immediately after FaceTime call redirect
Hi all!
I guess there could be exploit in FaceTime/call redirection proto. It's the 3rd time when I see my iPad is flashing with digits brute-forcing pin code to unlock screen and does not react on any touch or buttons.
The scenario is as following:
1. I receive a call on iPhone
2. Call is redirected to iPad via FaceTime
3. After call is answered from iPhone, iPad do not fall into sleep
4. iPad does slide to unlock!
5. iPad start flashing with digits (it looks the same when you tapping and after any touch digit flashes). The sequence is traditional: 1111,1211,1221,etc,etc...
6. Finally iOS blocks pin entering with timeout and iPad back to normal operations, reacts on buttons and touches.
I talk about iPad2/iPhone4S running latest iOS 8.3.
If anybody get the same problem, please write here. What you describe sounds more like a problem with your iPad's touchscreen than a hack. There's no known method for brute-forcing the lockscreen code in that manner.
Note that the sequence you describe isn't really "traditional"... the only digits you describe as being used are 1 and 2, which are right next to each other... a problem with the touchscreen in that region could easily explain that. Use a soft, slightly damp cloth to clean the screen. If that doesn't help, contact Apple for diagnosis and service. -
I just paid for a TV series on my iPad and after watching 1 episode the message appeared This device is already associated with an Apple ID
