Ipad showing not enough storage in spite of extra storage on iCloud

A couple months ago I upgrade my iCloud storage and a few days ago I reupgraded because I kept getting the message "storage is almost full". But in spite of the reupgrading, I'm still getting that messages on my iPad 3. What do I do? I thought buying the extra storage on iCloud was supposed to resolve all that. This is despite showing that I have 20.3 GB of 25 GB available. Please help!!!!! Most of the space is used up by apps.

The iPad cannot be upgraded in any way.  The storage capacity is all there can ever be on a particular iPad.  The capacity of iCloud is for backup purposes and syncing purposes, it does not function as additional storage space for any devices.
Backing up the iPad assures you that content will not be lost if anything goes wrong such as a catastophic hardware failure.
If you are out of storage space on the iPad you don't have much choice, keeping that iPad, but to remove material and free up space.  You can always backup everything, restore the iPad to new condition, and then restore selectively your material.  Or sell it and buy one with larger storage so you have room for your content.
Probably doesn't sound to good to you but there honestly isn't anything you can do to incrase the capacity of your iPad.

Don't try to turn the iPad off until you reboot.
On your iPad, Did you try holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time until the Apple logo appears? If you didn't try it, go ahead and do it. Wait until the Apple logo appears on the iPad screen before you let go of the buttons.

  • When I download an app I had to put in payment settings cause it was expiring, after that it was downloading but then said 'cannot download because your ipad does not enough space' but I actually have 3.3 gb while the game is 1.4 .pls tell what to do

When I download an app I had to put in payment settings cause it was expiring, after that i paid and it was downloading but then said 'cannot download because your ipad does not enough space' but I actually have 3.3 gb while the game is 1.4 . I tried rebooting and powering off but still it didnt work even when I clicked the app( which still hasn't downloaded yet). What do I do now?

The GB size of the download file is the compressed size (like .zip or .dmg). When the file is installed/uncompressed it can be 2-3 times larger.
How much space is used by your Other? You may be able to reduce.
How Do I Get Rid Of The “Other” Data Stored On My iPad Or iPhone?
    http://tinyurl.com/85w6xwn
With an iOS device, the “Other” space in iTunes is used to store things like documents, settings, caches, and a few other important items. If you sync lots of documents to apps like GoodReader, DropCopy, or anything else that reads external files, your storage use can skyrocket. With iOS 5/6, you can see exactly which applications are taking up the most space. Just head to Settings > General > Usage, and tap the button labeled Show All Apps. The storage section will show you the app and how much storage space it is taking up. Tap on the app name to get a description of the additional storage space being used by the app’s documents and data. You can remove the storage-hogging application and all of its data directly from this screen, or manually remove the data by opening the app. Some applications, especially those designed by Apple, will allow you to remove stored data by swiping from left to right on the item to reveal a Delete button.

  • WBAdmin BMR backup says "There is not enough free space on the backup storage location to back up the data."

We're doing nightly BMR backups of a small 2012 R2 Hyper-V host via wbadmin to 2TB USB disks, via
wbadmin start backup -backupTarget:z: -quiet -noverify -vssFull -include:e:,c: -allCritical
(where E: contains the sole VM).
We are using the same backup system on other similar Hyper-V hosts running 2008 R2 and 2012, with no problems. However, with this 2012 R2 host, after a few months of no problems the backups started failing with:
There is not enough free space on the backup storage location to back up the data.
This made no sense, and continues to make no sense:
The 2TB backup disks are only half full (>1TB free), with 600GB of unallocated shadowstorage.
There should be room for many more backups on these disks. Each currently contains 11 to 13 backups, with the initial full backup having required about 600GB and each subsequent backup only requiring another 20GB to 40GB.
There is over 40GB free on the C: drive and 300GB free on the E: drive; free space on the host volumes is not an issue.
Increasing the shadowstorage limit on the backup disks to unbounded doesn't resolve the issue.
This is not a problem of a RECOVERY partition that's too small, and SystemState backups always complete successfully.
The first workaround we found was to temporarily reduce (not increase) the shadowstorage allocation on the E: drive (containing the VM) and then increase it back (with the end result of deleting old shadow copies).
This worked reliably, but looking for a root cause led us to uninstall the Windows Updates installed mid-September (in particular the Aug 2014 and Sep 2014 roll-ups), which preceded the start of this problem. But instead of resolving the problem the uninstalls
made it worse, in that our workaround stopped working.
We reinstalled the Windows Updates, and then tried setting backup performance to normal, in case the problem was related to VSS on the host volumes, but the errors continued.
At this point the only way we've found to work around the error is to delete 1 or 2 of the oldest backups on the destination disk, via
      wbadmin delete backup -backupTarget:z: -deleteOldest
after which the new backup will succeed.
But, again, this makes no sense, as the destination disks are only half full, and even if space was an issue wbadmin should delete old backups as required. And this same system is working fine on 2008 R2 and 2012.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    John

    Hi John,
Please check run the command below to check if the space required to complete the backup causes the snapshot storage space to become less than 1/8 of the target size.
vssadmin list shadows /for=x: will list the shadow copies on x: and creation time.
WSB will not shrink the diff area to less than 1/8 of Target volume size as we do not want to lose all past backups just to accommodate this one.

    Hi,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions
Ok, if resetting it hasn't worked you could try a restore:
    Restoring iPod to factory settings
I see you're on Windows 98 - according to the Tech Spec that is not supported:
    Windows system requirements
    * PC with USB port or card (USB 2.0 recommended)
    * Windows 2000 with Service Pack 4 or later, or Windows XP Home or Professional with Service Pack 2 or later

As you're new to this technology then the iPod 101 might be helpful:

  • TS3274 iPad says not enough storage in iCloud-this message is in a box in the middle of the screen-wont let me do anything except power off! Help please!

My iiPad has a message that says not enough storage available on iCloud the only thing I can do is turn the iPad off. It's like the message is frozen on there! help what can I do

Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • Screen shows not enough storage and wont allow me to click close or settings. Power off doesnt work either., Screen shows not enough storage and wont allow me to click close or settings. Power off doesnt work either.

Ipad is stuck with the pop up of:
Not enough storeage. This ipad cannot be backedup because there is not enough iCloud storage available. You can manage your storage in settings. Gives the option to click on close or settings. Neither option I can click on nor can I power off.

That behavior occurs from time to time. If you fail to backup your iPad with iCloud on a regular basis you may also get a message to that effect and that message may also freeze your screen and prevent you from using the iPad. When that happens, you have to do the same thing that you just did, reset/reboot the iPad.
You can prevent the "you haven't backed up this iPad" message from popping up by backing up on a regular basis. The only way that you can prevent the other message from popping up is to purchase more storage.
What can you do to prevent those messages from "freezing up" the iPad, As far as I know - nothing at all. It seems to be some type of quirk in the settings that affects some users from time to time. Read the "More Like This" box on the right. There is no setting that you are missing.

    Hi karlos16,
For the error message you are seeing, I found this article:

"This iPhone cannot be backed up because there is not enough iCloud storage available."
This message is displayed when there is not enough storage space available in your iCloud Storage to complete your backup. You can either reduce the amount of data you are backing up under Backup Options, or you can buy more storage.
For the issue with the iPhone appearing to be unresponsive, I recommend this article for troubleshooting:
