Ipad shows not charging
My ipad is showing not charging. I have checked the cords, plug ins etc. and have tried to charge via my PC and directly into the wall. It still shows not charging. Anyone had this issue?
First, try giving your iPad a reset. Hold down the sleep and home keys, past when you see the red power down slider and until you see the silver apple. Let it reboot and try again.
Usually when an iPad own't charge it's one of four things
bad power brick or wrong power brick
bad cord
bad outlet
Verify that the brick you're using is a 10-12W charger, not a 5W iPhone charger.
swap out the card or outlet to confirm or rule those out
If you go thorugh this and your iPad still can't charge, then the foruth thing could be an issue with the port. You can blow it out with a can of air if you have it (don't go digging around in there because if you hurt those pins, then even if there is something wrong inside, the blame will fall on any damage you do)
If you're down to thinking it's your ipad's port, make an appointment at your local apple store and have them take a look at it. If your port has failed (not been damaged) then it could fall under a manufacturer's defect and be covered by the warranty

FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
1. Turn off iPad
2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
7. Select "Restore iPad"...
Note:
1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY. -

IPad not recognised in iTunes and showing not charging from wall charger
I have had my ipad a year and today it is not recognised in itunes, also when charging from a wall socket 10A ipad charger it shows Not Charging (however trickle charges). I have tried resetting (holding both buttons for 10 sec) with no benefit, i am reluctant to resset everything as if this does not work I have a dead iPad.
No other items have changed and there does not appear to be any visable damage in the conector on the iPad, note an ipod conects in itunes, so it is not a Mac side issue. This feels like a software issue on the iPad.
Any help appreciated if anyone else has had this issue.
ThanksUpdate: Apple agreed to a replacement iPad even though I did not return faulty one to dealer till 2 weeks outside of warranty. The replacement looks brand new. Dealer told me Apple does not repair iPads as they are a sealed unit. I am doubtful that is true. Suspect they do 'refurbish' and use as replacements. Am grateful to Apple for the new iPad. Two thoughts as to why they agreed to it despite faulty one out of warranty: 1) Consumer Guarantee Act in New Zealand - which trumps manufacturers warranties and says among other things that goods sold must be of an 'acceptable quality' (and I did mutter to the dealer about the CG Act); 2) It stops owners blabbing on forums like this what component failed on their iPad... and hmmm maybe Apple recognises a problem with the lifespan of the dock connector/cable.

Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.

BTW- Your profile shows you have iOS 6.1.4 installed. The max iOS for an iPad is 6.1.3. iOS 6.1.4 is for iPhones only. -
my ipad wasn't charging with the provided wall charger, I thought maybe I needed to update my iOS to 6.1.2. So I started the update via the settings/general on the ipad itself, at the same time I also started the updates to itunes on my computer (windows vista). The updates (to pc & iPad) are now finished and the ipad is displaying the itunes logo with a USB cable indicating I need to connect to the computer but it isn't connecting, I have followed all of the trouble shooting, and restarted both my device and my pc. Could the charger on the ipad (not the plug as I have tried different sync cords also) be messed up? Before this for the last month my ipad will only charge when it is turned totally off and only at a rate of about 5%/hour! its soooo so sooooo slow! SOMEONE PLEASE HELP! I am stuck!
by the way when I say it wasnt charging with the provided charger I mean it wasn't charing. Not even showing "Not Charging" or anything, it just wouldn't do anything, it was like it wasnt plugged in at all.
Is there any way to stop or reverse the update I started? or a different way to connect to itunes rather than with usb, because obviously the plug part of the ipad is shot. -

When you plug into a computer, it may say "not Charging", but it will charge but slowly. If this is the case, the cable is good. Therefore, the wall charger must be defective.

I have all the right connectors and I'm get the Not Charging message when I plug it in to charge. it worked at the Amsterdam airport, but now in Greece it doesn't. Using the exact same connection in Greece, my wife's iPad 2 does charge correctly. Does anyone know why it's not working for my iPad 3? Amsterdam and Greece use the same outlets, can't figure out why it worked at airport but not here.

My iPad2 suddenly stopped charging with the AC adapters (all 3 that I have). It will charge with the computer USB port, very slowly.

My ipad 3 went from 5% battery to shutting down. On attempting to charge it up, it gives the icon on the screen of a depleted battery, and after a few minutes the apple logo appears, and after which it turns off. Pressing any of the home buttons or sleep/wake button simply repeats the cycle. I have changed chargers, wall socket, attempted to charge via computer but to no avail. On one occasion, it got as far as briefly showing my home screen before shutting down again. Note that I have kept it plugged in for 12 hours now.
Suggestions?Could be the charger, cable or iPad. Plug the USB cable into your computer. It may say "Not Charging", however, it is charging slowly and will verify that the cable is good.
Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)

Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. TS3274 ipad will not charge when USB cord connected to PC or socket.

Ipad icon not charging but plugged correctly
My new ipad2 shows the battery icon Not Charging but is correctly plugged, even tried different cables and into the wall and computer. Any hint ?

There have been a few reports of defective wall chargers. Take it to the Apple Store for evaluation.
