IPad sleeping during presentationh

HI there,
When using my iPad Air connected to a projector (via lightning-VGA adapter) it automatically locks the screen as if it wasn't presenting. I may be wrong but I think that prior to iOS 8 the screen never automatically locked when presenting using Keynote and connected to a projector. Anyone under iOS 7 could confirm this?
thanks in advance!

Thanks for your reply. Turning off auto-lock came to mind but, like I said, from what I recall my iPad never locked when connected to a projector during a presentation before iOS 8. I was wondering if I'm recalling it right.

  • I got locked out from my iPad mini during setup, keep ask me for passcode but I didn't set one up.  Reboot unsuccessful, iTune won't let me connect because I didn't enter my passcode. How to fix this?

I got locked out from my iPad mini during my initial setup.  Keep ask me for passcode but I haven't setup one.  Reboot and restart didn't solve the problem, tried connect to iTunes but it won't let me because it requires the passcode.  Tried my Exchanged password, Apple ID password and my iPhone passcode but none work.  Any idea to resolve this?

Try and force your iPad into Recovery Mode
    1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
    2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
3.While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
    Note: Data will be lost.

  • IOS apps continue to use CPU after iPad sleeps

I've created several AIR -iOS apps for iPad and have noticed that after the iPad sets itself to sleep, these apps continue to use a % of CPU indefinately, (around 2%).
I'm seeing this by using XCode Instruments Activity Monitor whilst the iPad is connected.
The apps have been created with:
    Flash Pro CS5.5
    AIR 3.2
    Tested on iPad1 and iPad2.
Would anyone know if there is there a reason for this, what could be causing it and is there a fix?
    Thanks,
    Mark
    UPDATE:
Allowing the iPad to sleep does maintain a CPU usage of around 2% for the AIR apps, whereas closing the app with the home button sets the CPU usage to 0, even with the app not exiting on suspend.
When a native app is running when the iPad sleeps its CPU usage does return to 0%.
I wonder what the AIR app is doing?????

    Hi Peter,
    Thanks for your reply.
If Ask to Buy is turned on, the organizer should have to approve new purchases, including free apps, before they are billed--either to the organizer's card or to the family member's gift card balance.
The organizer must use a credit or debit card to pay for family member purchases.
You can find more detail at these links:
Request and make purchases with Ask to Buy - Apple Support
When a family member initiates a new purchase or free download, a request is sent to the organizer if Ask to Buy is on.
How iTunes Store purchases are billed - Apple Support
iTunes Store credit on your account isn't shared with other family members. So if the family organizer has a $50 credit on their account and another family member initiates a purchase, it won't deduct from the organizer's iTunes Store credit, but will bill the organizer's credit or debit card.

  • MBP 2010 goes to sleep during login

I cannot boot up by MBP. It starts with the gray screen and the apple. The baton spins around a while, then the display goes to black, not suddenly, but a quick fade. Sometimes it then comes up again with the gray screen and the cursor in the corner. But then it goes back to black.
The computer is unresponsive - caps lock does not respond. Looks like it is asleep - white light is pulsing, battery meter shows full, charger is charging.
I have hard shut the computer many times. Occasionally, it will show a flash of a screen before shutting, and the screen is the waking from hibernation, like when you wake the computer after the battery is low and the computer shuts down by itself. But it is fleeting and the battery meter shows fully charged.
I have a feeling therefore that it is going to sleep during the login process.
I have tried PRAM and SRC reset - no change.
I have tried to boot in safe mode, and it also goes to the black screen.

    Hey Frederic
The next step is to boot to your install disk or Recovery Disk and use Disk Utility to verify the Disk. After that the next step would be to reinstall the operating system.

  • Sleeps during DVD playback

Why does OS X.4 display go to sleep during Quicktime playback? It doesn't matter if I'm watching something through FrontRow, Quicktime, or the DVD player.
Specifically, when my MacBook is on battery power, my display sleep comes on within a few minutes. It dims first and then sleeps a short time later. All this is normal behavior EXCEPT I don't want it to sleep while playing a DVD. If I'm watching a DVD, sleep mode should never happen.
My other mac computers do the same thing but its less noticeable since the display sleep delay times are longer.
What settings am I missing or perhaps this is a bug?

I'm sorry my first post was too brief. I should have mentioned my settings before. I'm not a newbie looking for location of Energy Saver settings and I'm not quite sure why it should matter.
What possible combination of settings would allow the computer or display to sleep during DVD or Quicktime playback?
    Settings for: Battery
    Optimization: Normal
Reduce brightness for this power source- checked
    Reduce brightness before sleep- checked
It will never sleep if the mouse is moving regardless of Energy Saver settings, right? Why should the display ever be put to sleep during playback of a DVD? It's like the OS never recognizes DVD & Quicktime video playback as actively using the computer.
    Questions:
Does yours go to sleep during DVD playback?
    What settings are you using?
I suspect this is an OS X.4 bug as I've caught one of my PPC macs going to screen-saver in the middle of playing a Quicktime movie clip.
Thank-you for your help... I really appreciate it even if it sounds otherwise.

  • Laptops in docking station with lid closed go to sleep during in-place migration from XP to Windows 7

We have an issue where existing XP laptops are targeted with SCCM 2012 OSD TS for upgrade to Windows 7.  The laptops are in a docking station, with the lid closed.  The laptops are going to sleep when the OSD is booted in WinPE, just before the
Setup Windows and Configmgr step.  I have copied powercfg.exe from a Windows 8.1 machine (both AMD64 and x86 versions) to the MDT Tool package...." and then a step to run:
    %DeployRoot%\Scripts\%PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE%\PowerCfg.exe -setacvalueindex 381b4222-f694-41f0-9685-ff5bb260df2e 4f971e89-eebd-4455-a8de-9e59040e7347 5ca83367-6e45-459f-a27b-476b1d01c936 0
However, the laptops are still sleeping during the Setup Windows and Configmgr step.   Any insight to correcting this will be extremely helpful.

    Hi
We came across this issue, seems odd that SCCM doesn't suspend the power management in the OS during the TS - (But then again it also seems odd that Windows 7 will go to sleep if you close the lid of a laptop half way through a shutdown, so that when you
lift the lid it wakes only to complete the shutdown, did MS not spot that, or choose to ignore it!?).
These commands should be run soon after the Setup Windows and ConfigMgr step and will disable the device and screen from sleep/hibernating:
Prevent sleep during OSD (Battery power)
    cmd.exe /c powercfg -x -standby-timeout-dc 0
Prevent sleep during OSD (AC power)
    cmd.exe /c powercfg -x -standby-timeout-ac 0
Prevent monitor off during OSD (Battery power)
    cmd.exe /c powercfg -x -monitor-timeout-dc 0
Prevent monitor off during OSD (AC power)
    cmd.exe /c powercfg -x -monitor-timeout-ac 0
Prevent hibernate during OSD (Battery power)
    cmd.exe /c powercfg -x -hibernate-timeout-dc 0
Prevent hibernate during OSD (AC power)
    cmd.exe /c powercfg -x -hibernate-timeout-ac 0
At the end of the TS, you can revert these changes by running the following command to reset the power scheme:
    powercfg -restoredefaultschemes
    Hope this helps
Thank you.  However, we did put similar steps in our Task Sequence right after the "Setup Windows and..." step, but the issue we are having is that the "Sleep" occurs during the "Setup Windows and...." so it never reaches
anything after that step until the lid is opened.

Often these are represented as "drive OK" or "drive fail" respectively. A "threshold exceeded" value is intended to indicate that there is a relatively high probability that the drive will not be able to honor its specification in the future: that is, the drive is "about to fail". The predicted failure may be catastrophic or may be something as subtle as the inability to write to certain sectors, or perhaps slower performance than the manufacturer's declared minimum."

  • Os x 10.7.3 MacBook pro sleeps during iTunes playback

Hi since updating to 10.7.3 my MacBook Pro seems to go to sleep during iTunes playback and apple tv viewing. I've changes the sleep setting to 3hrs andinstalled "jiggle" which doesn't seem to work and to be honest it doesn't seem right to a) have to install a 3rd party app to beat the system b) be good for the expensive device to remain on....
Any suggestions as to what is wrong and what  I can do?

  • ML goes to sleep during a download

Why is ML going to sleep thus there is network activity ?
With Lion there where no issue.
Tried it on several Mac's with same result.

Since installing Mountain Lion, I can be sending video to my TiVo, uploading to the internet, downloading from the internet, repairing permissions or even burning a disc and my Mac might decide it is idle and just go to sleep. I like that it goes to sleep when it really is idle but not when I am doing something. I found an application called Caffeine that I can run to keep it from going to sleep, but I shouldn't have to always remember to do that. The most recent problem I had was after accidentally erasing a hard drive, I did a deep scan using Disk Drill then started to restore items to another drive and my Mac went to sleep during the Restore.
