IPad still locked with passcode after restoring from computer

I set a restrictive passcode on my iPad, bought an iPad 2 and moved my content from iTunes to the new iPad. Now I can't access the passcode restrictions to cancel the passcode. I have already tried a full restore from my computer/iTunes. Is there a way to clear the passcode through a "backdoor"?

You can unlock it on another computer though the content will be wiped and I think that you need to put it into DFU mode first e.g. post https://discussions.apple.com/message/15385719#15385719 in thread https://discussions.apple.com/message/15385641#15385641
From http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212 :
If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present.

  • HT1212 iPad still locked with password even after erasing the device, please help!

    My iPad was locked because I forgot my password; I followed the step by step instructions to recover my iPad but it still asks me for a password to access the device even though the device should have been erased. Please help!?!

    Is this how you do it?
    1. Turn off iPad
    2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
    3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
    4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port. Do not release button until you see picture of iTunes and plug (very important)
    5. Release Home button.
    ON COMPUTER
    6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
    7. Select "Restore iPad"...
    Note: Data will be lost

  • How to sync apps with iTunes after restore from iCloud?

    I just recently restored my iPod touch to 5.0.1. and I used my iCloud backup. While it worked for the most part, when it came to downloading the apps, I found it cumbersome. I would prefer that I just plug in my iPod to iTunes and let the apps install from the computer. It seemed to sync up, but all the apps on my device remained inactive and uninstalled. More specifically, they were still 'Waiting...'. Weirdly enough some of the apps even looked like they were downloaded partially but despite numerous attempts, they simply refused to install. I have restored my iPod again in frustration and before I restore yet again, I'd like to ask if there is a solution where I can restore my iPod from iCloud, keep the apps arranged but have them installed over iTunes the traditional way?

    They both are.
    Another question, right now I have 3 out of 5 computers authorized to use with my iTunes account. But what happens If they all break and I end up getting a 6th computer?

  • IPad won't turn on after restoring from backup

    I restored my iPad 2 running iOS 6 from a backup I made this past Sunday (on iTunes 10.7 for Windows).  I left it alone and let it do it's thing.  When I came back my iPad 2 was off.  When I tried to turn it on, the Apple logo appeared for about 20 seconds and then it simply shut off.
    I can't get my iPad 2 to turn on.  Any ideas?

    Perform a Reset...
    Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
    Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.

  • Problem with Mail after restoring from backup

    I just replaced the hard drive in a 1.83ghz 2 core Mac Mini. No problems there. Once I restored the system and all of my files I was right back up and running. Except one thing... in Mail, all appears normal, I can see all of my email headers from the past several years, but there is no content for these emails. Just blank. I've restored my Mail folder from my backup library again. Same thing. What gives? It's very frustrating, because I can see the headers and I know there has to be some way to get the body of the emails back. Any ideas folks?
    Thanks in advance!

    you need to rebuild mail index. first try reindexing the inbox using Mailbox menu-.rebuild. if that does not help then quit Mail and delete the file home directory/library/mail/envelope index. then start Mail and let it import. it should work normally after that.

    If you don't have the passcode to get into your iPad you will need to restore it to factory settings

    Hi mChelle,
    Follow the instructions that best apply to your situation in the link below:

    Oh - I see that you have that article linked to your post above. Read the entire paragraph in item #1. It tells you what to do if it is asking for a passcode.

  • After restoring from backup on iCloud, my photos have been "downloading" for 2 days with no progress at all.

    After restoring from backup on iCloud, my photos have been "downloading" for 2 days with no progress at all.  Everything else seems to by fine, however. I have all my apps, contacts, even my photostream back, but my camera roll has said "downloading 137 of 1,345" for two days.  I really don't want to have to start over as the whole process took almost 3 hours. Help?

    Someone mentioned that syncing with ITunes, making sure that photos are being synced - even with an empty folder, fixed the problem.  I tried it and it didn't work for me.  Anyone got any answers that don't include losing the photos or erasing and restoring from backup again?

  • I have found a lost ipad wifi only, locked with passcode ... what now ?

    i have found an ipad and i would like to help find the owner but the ipad is locked with a passcode so i cannot connect it to the internet so that owner can find it on find my ipad i have uploaded a pic of the back of the device with the serial number, i have also reported this to the local authorities
    <Edited By Host>

    The best thing to do is to turn it in to your local police. Should the owner have reported the iPad as stolen, you could be liable if you hold onto the iPad. If the police have refused to accept the device - and I'd insist on that in writing if they have so you're covered in case of any legal issues - there's not much you can do. Even if the owner registered the device with Apple, Apple will not give you any of the owner's information. Normally Apple won't make any attempts to contact the owner themselves, though you can contact Apple anyway and ask.
    Regards.

    It just means some spammer is using your email address as the sender address for their spam. This is very easy to do - anyone can do it simply by changing the From email address in their email program. It does not mean your account was hacked or you have a virus (there are no current Mac viruses on the loose anyway, nor has there been for years).
    There's nothing you can do about it. It can happen to anyone and the spammers will move on to using someone else's email address before long.

  • Can we import photos from iphone to windows PC when Iphone is locked with passcode?

    Hello,
    I am using Iphone 5 running IOS 8.1.2.
    I recently connected my Iphone to my friends windows laptop to import the photos and videos.
    I observed a strange behaviour. I was able to import photos even when my Iphone was locked with passcode.
    Can anyone explain me why and when can this happen?
    I personally felt, when Iphone is locked with passcode import should not happen.
    Please correct me if I am wrong.
    Best,
    Kuldeep

    A small edit to my above question.
    For importing photos I right clicked on my iphone in windows explorer and selected "Import photos and videos" contextual command.
    I didn't open it to see DCIM folder.
    Hope I receive some information on this.

    Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school environment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.

    ‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
    Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
    I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
    Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
    If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.
  • HT201487 My iPad is locked by iCloud after upgrade to system 8
    My iPad is locked by iCloud after an upgrade to system 8. I reset my password for my apple id and iCloud, but still cannot get into my iPad. The new password does not work on my iPad. What do I do next? This is ridiculous from an upgrade????
    I tried Apple Care, they would not give me to the Account Security Team, kept me on the phone for over an hour, and never did solve my problem. At the end of the call, my iPad was still locked.
    BUT I found this article and solved the problem myself:
    Forgot passcode for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, or your device is disabled - Apple Support
    So all is well now. If this happens to you, follow the directions in this article!
  • M on typed in pascode many time and my iphone 4s says on the screen,diabled connect to itunes,itunes says iphone is locked with passcode.Idont want to loose my contacts and pictures.I do remember my password.What hould i do
    my phone was disabled after several passcode atempt by my son,it says connect to itunes,itunes says phone is locked with passcode.I remember my passcode.I dont want to loose my contacts,what hould i do.
    If your phone is now disabled, you've already lost all of the data on the phone. That's the whole point of the passcode. Your only choice now is to force the phone into recovery mode and restore it, as described here:
