IPad stopped syncing calendar, contacts

I am not sure when it started, but my contacts and calendar are no longer synced to my iPad. My contacts on the iPad are completely blank and my calendar has a few dates that have been on the iMac calendar for a while but not all or even some that were in the calendar when the dates that do show up on the iPad were entered.
I have clicked the info tab, check sync contacts/all contacts, sync calendars/ all calendars. I then sync. It goes through a three step sync but nothing appears on the iPad. I have tried it with both the "advanced" items checked and unchecked.
This is a direct USB connection and a first generation iPad. I know it worked before, but have not paid attention to when it quit, so I do not know if this problem came when I switched ot the new iMac

This is horrifying. I just discovered this too. It seems that my iPad will not sync the Calendar with my Macbook unless I use iCloud, according to Apple's Help menu. Well, I don't use iCloud. I prefer to make it harder for the NSA to pry into my personal life.
But this is ridiculous. Why wouldn't Apple allow a sync through the USB cable. It's so simple. I just plug it in, and bingo, the sync and charging are done at the same time. Not to mention that by not using iCloud, I can leave the WiFi off, which is better for battery life, and better for one's health (if you believe the European studies which we North Americans conveniently ignore).
Sigh... you can see with these successive Apple updates that we are being literally corralled into the "control" house.

  • TS4118 how to sync calendar/contacts with imac, ipad, & iphone

I am having issues syncing with all of my products and would love some assistance, please.
I have the new ipad and the iphone 5.  I also have an imac running Mac OS X (version 10.6.8).  I can sync the ipad and iphone 5 with icloud but I end up with a lot of duplicates.  Nothing seems to be syncing with the imac.
I used to be able to keep my imac as the primary item that I would make all of the changes on, plug my ipad into the computer and when it would sync (over itunes), it would make the calendar/contacts adjustments on to the ipad, but since getting the iphone, that just isn't happening any more.  Is it because of icloud?  Now, there is nothing on my imac calendar - the iphone seems to be the primary with both the ipad & iphone having a ton of duplicates (both in the calendar and the contacts)!
Thanks sooo much for any assistance you can provide!

While waiting for a reply, you can read the documentation that was in the box your iPad came in.  It's a book about a Spanish guy called Manual.
The answer is iTunes.  Download it.  Install it.  Read the instructions.  Use it.

  • How to sync Calendar, Contacts, Notes between Mac, iPad & iPod?

    Hi there,
I have a MacBook Pro using Mac OS X 10.6.8、an iPad using iOS 7 & an iPod Touch that uses iOS 6.  And everyday I use iCal、Address Book、iWork (includes Pages、Numbers、Keynote) in Mac computer, use iWork also on iPad as well as use Calendar、Contacts、Notes both on iPad & iPod Touch.
I have trouble keeping all my files on my Mac computer、iPad & iPod Touch up to date and hate updating each of them manually.  Hence I have two questions:
    1)  how may I sync the files of the applications mentioned above between my Mac computer、iPad & iPod Touch without using iCloud?  (perhaps through iTunes or my e-mail account?)
    2)  if I must sync the files through iCloud, how may start my iCloud service for free?
                  Thank you millions!

Automatic does not work for me on this particular task. . My primary computer is an iMac. On travel I use a MacbookPro. I want the MacbookPro to have the same Contacts list as the iMac. I am logged into iCloud on both computers. The MacbookPro needs to be syced. On it I logged out of icloud, and in doing so I chose to delete files from the computer. Then I logged in again to icloud. That put a lot of additional lists of groups into the Contacts, lists that are not on the iMac. But some individual pages are not updated to match the iMac.
I tried to manually copy (and overwrite) the various files on the MacbookPro that seemed to deal with the Contacts, including
    my Library/Applicatiion Support/AddressBook
    my Library/Preferences/com.apple.AddressBook.plist
They are still not the same.
On my Macbook I unchecked the Contacts, which deleted them and checked them again. This now deleted all of my groups and the individual ones are not synced with the iMac.
So now I have had three different versions of Contacts on the Macbook, as I manipulated turning on and off iCloud, and not one of them has been the same as on iMac.
How do I get the Macbook contacts to be the same as on iMac?

  • Pearl stopped syncing Calendar, Storm will with Desktop 4.7

I just reformatted my computer and installed Windows XP Pro fresh on a new harddrive and have been loading software back in. I got around to our phones and I can't figure out what's up with my wife's Pearl.
I am running Windows XP Pro
    Service Pack 3
    We have two blackberries.
    Mine: Storm running OS
    4.7.0.148
    Verizon
    Wife: Pearl running OS
    4.5.0.77
    Verizon
I just downloaded Desktop Manager version fresh from this website:
    4.7.0.37
The storm syncs just fine, but the pearl will not sync calendar. It will sync the address book just fine, but when it comes time to sync calendar, it waits on a blank screen then just "dings" like it's done. I check the logs of the pearl sync, and I can see in the log where it says
    On 7/12/2009 8:02 PM
Synchronize Device Address Book with Microsoft Outlook Contacts
then at the end it says:
    Translation successful.
There are no logs of an attempt to sync calendar, only Contacts (address book)
I have found a few post topics on this already doing a search in this forum. Most of the topics are not the same problems as this pearl phone. So if this is a duplicate post, sorry, but I didn't find it in searching....I did try several ideas in the posts I found:
One topic referrences and KB article on Blackberry, with four resolutions to try.
    http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB13801&sliceId=SAL_Pub...
Resolution #1 was to repair the install: I tried that.
Resolution #2 doesn't apply to me, I am running Windows XP Pro
Resolution #3 was to redownload desktop manager from the web, and disable all virus scanners: I tried that.
Resolution #4 was to reset the configuration on the phone: I tried that too.
I rebooted my PC, I rebooted the pearl phone: None of the above have worked.
I disabled virus, and disabled firewalls, then tried to sync. Did not work....Keep in mind the Storm has no problems syncing either address books or calendar.
There was also referrence in the post to check and see if calendar can be viewed if you go to Advance in Backup/Restore. Yes I can see the database in the phone, I can see "calendar all" database on the phone side.
There is no error that is generated when this happens.
I have a desktop Video AVI file of this process, I captured the problem with a video, if you'd like to view it, please PM or e-mail me and I would be happy to share it with anyone that thinks they can help us.
Please keep in mind that I have a STORM blackberry, using the SAME PC, the SAME Blackberry desktop software.
The Storm will sync the address book and calendar just fine.
The Pearl will only sync the address book, but stops with no error when it comes to the calendar.
Before my Windows XP re-installation, both phones seem to be just fine. The only difference I know of is that I am running Service Pack 3 on the PC now and before the re-install of Windows XP, I was running Service Pack 2.
    Anyone have any ideas?

Changed the calendar default to Outlook and not Facebook as Steve suggested in his blog, and this worked.

  • CompanionLink sync calendar, contact, notes with Outlook over USB?

For years, I've been wrestling with the choice of what to migrate to from my hobbly 1st generation iPod Touch.  A replacement for my cellphone and the Touch, augmented with a data plan.  I am not a natural fan of the Apple cult design philosophy, nor the cavalier security model of Android.  Furthermore, I have modest no-nonsense requirements in terms of apps -- I need a secure and efficient to organize my info and priorities, not play Mario Brothers over the web with my garage door opener, or some other frivolous distraction.
The advent of Blackberry 10 was a huge relief.  However, I've been reading about the wrinkle with nonwireless 2-way syncing with Outlook, encompassing calendar, contacts, and notes.  The latest rumours I've found online about the ETA is end of 2013, and I'm not sure how much uncertainty there is in that forecast.  Consequently, I decided to explore the option of buying CompanionLink.  I have only found one personal anecdote during my web search, and I'll refrain from describing it here.  To get an idea of the quality of the solutio, it was suggested to me to post on a CompanionLink forum, but that might not be the best way to get a balanced view of the product.  I figure that a Blackberry forum would be more objective.
Can anyone who has jumped into the CompanionLink pool please share their anecdote of how well it works?  Anything that you consider worthwhile, as I may not be able to anticipate all the potentially significant points.
A particular behaviour that I'm hoping won't be in CompanionLink is what I experienced in syncing between Outlook and the iPod Touch via the iTunes app on the PC.  If an item (e.g. a note) changed both on Outlook on the PC and on the device, the user must choose which one is the correct one, and must make this choice on the fly.  If the conflicted item contained a lot of information, it would be hard to make the comparison on the fly.  The correct way to handle this would be to allow the user to choose that both versions of the item kept, effectively yielding two instances of the item.  The user can then use text comparison tools to reconcile the two versions e.g.  vim, diff, Word, etc.  Palm replicated conflicted items, but they've been out of the picture for a long time.
Thanks for any anecdotes on CompanionLink.
Afternote: Oh, and if anyone can point to past examples of a platform vendor changing hands, an the fate of the platforms, thanks for sharing that, too.  It is an overwhelming factor in how I decide to go forward.

I totally agree. It would seem that since they sync all of the other parts of Outlook they would do the same for Notes. In fact if you think about it, they are not backing up the built in Notes so it probably was the last item on the list of todos. Probably in the next release of iTunes.
A work around would be to create a contact for the more important notes and then do a sync. Use Notes for the last name and the subject for the first name. That way they would be close together.

  • Why has apple removed the ability to sync calendars, contacts, notes, and what ever by hard wire and is forcing people to use iCloud?

Removing this ability has to be one of the worse moves that apple has made.  Beleave it or not some people may not want to connect to use iCloud.

    I hate iCloud, too
Never use it. I don't want to trust any of my real important data to remote servers.
Especially don't trust Apple and their servers with  personal contacts info, my calendar and appointments info, personal note, etc.
I want the ability back to sync calendars, notes, contacts to my local computer and local storage.

  • Unable to set Outlook to override iPhone when syncing calendar/contacts

Hi, I connect my 3GS iPhone via USB and sync calendar and contacts. I make ALL changes in Outlook. Is there any way to enable one way sync? i.e. to allow the computer to automatically delete/change previous entries on the phone?

I just dealt with this issue a few hours ago. I too couldn't figure out how to adjust any settings for two way syncing.
I synced my phone so that the contacts on my phone were up to date in Outlook.
In iTunes I selected contacts to sync but then at the bottom of that info screen where it says Advanced... I checked contacts again in that section. It is giving you the option to replace information on iphone with what is on the computer. Then I hit apply and then I select sync.
Kind of an backasswards way of doing things, but I have noticed I've been doing that alot with the iphone.

  • Can you:  Sync Calendar, Contacts, & Tasks over the internet?

    Hey!
We have a iMac and love it. I am primarily a PC user at work and am used to a windows mobile device that syncs Contacts, Calendar, & tasks over the internet.
As stated we have the iMac. I also have the .Mac account which currently publishes our calendar to a read only web site.
    Here's the Q's I have as a perspective buyer:
Can the iPhone sync up with the calendar on my Mac?
Can the iPhone sync up contacts with my Mac?
Can the iPhone sync up tasks with my Mac?
*When I use the term "sync" I mean that if I update something on the mac, it shows up automatically on thie iPhone and when I enter an item into the iPhone it shows up on the Mac.*

No. The iPhone does not support any Over the Air (OTA) syncing at this time. With the 2.0 release in June the iPhone will support OTA syncing with Exchange servers.

  • IPod  won't sync calendar/contacts with outlook???

My iPhone syncs it's calendar with Outlook fine on two (windows) computers.
*But my iPod classic won't do either???*
When i plug in the classic and look at the contacts tab, it only offer "Windows Address Book" for contacts, and down in the calendar section it states that Outlook must be installed to sync calendars?
Obviously outlook is installed and working because the iPhone syncs calendars with both computers...
    what gives?
thanks in advance for your help!

I have the same problem since I updated to iTunes 10.2 Sue (I think). For me this was somewhere in January.
I wasn't sure iTunes was the issue, until I read your post. I tested syncing a note, and that works fine.
My 2nd generation Ipod Touch runs on IOS 4.2.1. It won't upgrade to 4.3.
Possibly the synchonisation between iTunes 10.2 and IOS 4.2.1 doesn't work correctly.
Has somebody else solved this isue? I use both calendars (on iPod Touch and on PC) for work and private matters.
Otherwise I have to uninstall iTunes 10.2 and downgrade to 10.2.

  • Syncing calendars from iPhone5s and iPad.  Syncing calendars from iPhone 4 with mac

Can I sync my calendar from my iPhone 5 with my iPad?  If so, how?
Also, can I sync calendars from my iPhone 4 with my mac?  If so, how?

    Hi hpd0203,
There are a number of different ways of syncing calendars between your Apple devices. One of the easiest ways is to use iCloud. See this article for an introduction -

  • Sync Calendar & Contacts in OS2

Downloaded and installed OS2, All went well. Now my OS2 Calendar and Contacts will not sync. I've tried to setup the email that BPB uses to sync, but only the previous contacts and calendar syncs, never the OS2 Cal and Contacts. Anyone else have this issue, more importantly, anyone have a solution??

Thanks to all who replied. I resolved my issue, but it took a few hours' work. This solution works well if you can't afford to reset iPhone to solve your problems because the calendar data isn't yet in iCal and the contact data isn't yet in Address Book properly. In other words, if you reset iPhone to get the syncing back in order, you'll lose the very data you need to get into your Mac.
After researching tools to export Outlook data, here's what I did:
    1) Bought a software package called O2M Mail Converter for Windows Outlook (www.littlemachines.com) for $10
    2) Install and run O2M on the Windows box. The application allows you to properly export any Outlook data to a file that can be imported by iCal, Mail, etc. It worked beautifully...totally worth $10
    3) I chose ONLY my calendar items; I wasn't interested in any of gazillions of emails I have at work. However, you can export as much or as little of your Outlook data as you like.
    4) Put the export file on a flash drive and copied to my Mac
    5) Imported the file into iCal
    6) Spent about two hours cleaning up all the data in iCal so that Personal, Work, Birthdays/Anniversaries, etc. are properly recorded.
    7) Reset iPhone to factory defaults (this was also critical for solving a problem with Camera that plagued me since the 1.1.2 update)
    8) Set iTunes sync options for the proper iCal calendars, contacts, media, etc., then sync'd iPhone with iCal and Address Book (which I also spent a few hours cleaning up after importing everything from Entourage).
Everything on iPhone now works beautifully (even my camera)! Worth all the time, but it took most of my Saturday afternoon.
Hit me back if you have any questions.

  • TS1347 Itunes is no longer syncing calendar/contacts

Itunes is no longer syncing Outlook contacts and calendar on any of my Apple products.  I have uninstalled Itunes etc and reinstalled and no change.  I have also checked Outlook addin.  Nothing. Help Please!!!

Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first. Networks that have inherent issues can be seen to work differently with different versions of the same software. You might also try moving the Apple TV away from other electrical equipment.
