Ipad stuck in preparing to sync mode for hours

I can only sync my ipad on my laptop that is not updated to the 11.0.0 update. On the other laptop and PC it just gets stuck on stage 2 "Preparing to Sync" for hours and does nothing.

In case anyone else has this problem, on Windows 8.1 I had to open up the Control Panel, then type "troubleshooter" in the search box. I clicked "Troubleshooting" and then found "Fix problems with Windows Update" under the System and Security section.

Stuck at "Backing up" sync stage for hours and hours.

Hey everyone, thanks in advance for your help.
I tried syncing a 3rd gen iPod touch running iOS 5, an iPhone 3GS running 4.something, and iPhone 4 w/ 5.1.
When I plug in the items they all get stuck at the "backing up" sync stage, or step 2, (its always 2 of__).
I am running Windows 7 and running iTunes 10.5.1.42
Things I have done to try to get it to work:
Uninstalling and reinstalling the latest version of iTunes.
Rebooting the computer.
Totally reset the iPhone 3GS so that there were no media/new apps/ pics. Was told to do this to speed up the process.
"X"ing out this step. Tried clicking on the little "x" next to "step 2" , was told it would discontinue that specific step and move on to the next process.
Letting it sit for 8 hours
This started about 4 days ago, never had a problem with any of these products before.
All of these did nothing.

So I figured it out and just wanted to share the solution in case there is anyone else out there having the same issue.
The moment I plugged in my device iTunes begins to back it up before the syncing begins.
What you have to do is keep your Task Manager open.
When it starts to back up the process AppleMobileBackup.exe*32 will begin. You should immediately end that process, this will speed things up considerably. iTunes will also pop open a window telling you that your backup has failed. This is OK, and obviously expected.
If you do want to actually backup your device then I would reccomend syncing it a few times while ending the back up process, and then syncing it again while allowing the process. I do not know why, but this gets the back up process running much smoother and doesn't take up as much CPU.
In general I would also reccomend closing the "Apple Push"process. This too seems to be taking up alot of CPU.
You will have to shut off the backup process from the task manager every single time you sync your device. Even in the same sitting, if you just added a bit more media, once you press sync the backup process will begin again, so be aware of that.

Disconnect the iPod
Reboot the computer
Try again. Place the iPod in Recovery Mode if necessary to allow the restore.
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

Stuck at boot with spinning wheel for hours

Hello,
Yesterday I made a partition and cloned my Snow Leopard in order to see if Lion worked with the software I have.
I then booted to my "backup Snow Leopard" partition and upgraded to Lion but for some reason I'm stuck with spinning wheel for hours when doing the first restart. According from the install.log it seems that the install (upgrade) was done properly.

30 seconds after finishing the installation I restart and in verbose mode I get this log (sorry for the lousy quality, with was taken with my mobile).
I've tried everything.
Repaired permissions, disk.
Resetting PRAM, NVRAM, SMC.
I even left the MBP all night in this process to see if there was any progress. No luck.
Tried to enter safe mode but I only get a black screen and a new restart. (Something like PRAM)
What could be causing this?
In the past when I installed Snow Leopard (10.6) I had some issues with my firewire (they stopped working a few months ago).
I needed to boot to safe mode in order to finish the install of SL and remove these files from /System/Library/Extensions
IOFireWireSerialBusProtocolTransport.kext
IOFireWireAVC.kext
IOFireWireFamily.kext
IOFireWireIP.kext
IOFireWireSBP2.kext
Rebooting with this change shows that everything works properly (besides the dead firewire ports).
I don't know if the "spinning wheel" has something to do with my FireWire or Airport (which works fine in SL).. since it got stucked in there.

Finally!! I'm currently using Lion on my MBP.
With the help from members and macrumors I got this solution.
- Installed Snow Leopard on an external drive (by USB)
- Updated that partition to Lion from another macbook (I used macbook white).
After that I cloned the partition (without the FireWire kext files) with Carbon Copy Cloner to my MBP and... voila! :))
I'm replying to your message from Lion. Give it a try! If you don't have another macbook maybe a friend can help you.

Trouble syncing calendar from iCloud! I have the iPhone 4 and have been using the calendar and it is synced with icloud - at least it tells me it is. I just an iPad 3rd gen and everything synced except for the calendar.

A couple of things to check:
in the Calendar app, tap on the calendars button (top left) and make sure the iCloud calendars are selected for display.
Open the settings app, select "iCloud" and make sure Calendar is turned on.

Try disabling or uninstalling it temporarily to see if that clears it up. If that fixes it, you'll either need to talk to the vendor or find another antivirus solution.

Sounds like the song in question has something wrong with it? Can you uncheck it so it will not sync and see if the sync goes through?
If all is well you need to replace that track either from the CD you ripped it from or redownload from the itunes store at no extra cost. If sync then stops at another place then repeat the above until you have identified all your faulty tracks.

Lightroom 5 stuck in "Preparing new searchable data"

Freshly-installed Lightroom 5 stuck in "Preparing new searchable data" for hours.
Sure, I have tens of thousands of pictures, but why it takes so long and shows no progress?
It tried cancelling and starting over with no avail.

I had exactly the same thing happen while I was upgrading several of my old catalogs (LR3 and LR4). After several attempts over several days, I thought to check the forums and stumbled onto this thread. JorritJong's suggestion was most helpful (Thank you!) and allowed me to get around the problem. I had been waiting 5+ hours for one my larger catalogs to be upgraded and watching no CPU, Disk or Memory activity for the Lightroom.exe process, I got frustrated and pressed Cancel. But that hung as well. So I killed the process.
When you think about it, JorritJong's suggestion should only improve matters if there is some sort of deadlock or resource contention in the process (ie. a bug in the software). So I took it a step further and limited Lightroom.exe to 1 core (instead of his suggestion of 2). Steps: TaskMgr->Right click Lightroom.exe->Set Affinity, then uncheck "All Processors" and make sure only one is checked. Then I tried opening the very same catalog for upgrade. It was magically done in about 30 mins! Amazing!
Lightroom Devs, please fix this! Surely for every technically inclined user checking these forums and following this workaround, there must be numerous less technically proficient users who are just stuck and frustrated!

Russian keyboard stuck in "preparing to install" p...

My phone is Lumia 620. Installed Russian keyboard, then had to reset to factory settings because of a memory card. Now when I tried to re-download it it's stuck in "preparing to install" phase for hours. I can't delete it to try again (I suppose a hard reset would work but don't want to spend another two hours re-applying my settings and downloading apps). Tried to search the net but most people have a problem with the download getting stuck, not installing. (I also suppose my download could have gone a bit wrong somewhere as my phone switched off by accident somewhere in the middle and I don't know if it could have "broken" the download?) Estonian keyboard installed correctly and very quickly.

Well, the issue sorted itself out in the meantime, if anyone has a keyboard download stuck, just let the battery go low until the phone switches off. It could work.

Calendar keeps updating/syncing for hours

Sometimes when I wake up my Mac in the morning, my Calendar App starts to update/sync with iCloud (looking for changes myde on my other devices or new invitations) – and then remains in that mode for hours. I can´t get it to really sync and show new events by re-opening the app or pressing comand-R. Often a restart of the Mac does´nt solve that. I thought it might be a problem with iCloud service not being available but if I browse to iCloud.com I can reach the service and see the new entries in the calendar. Any suggestion?

I've heard of some people having this issue, and when I told My friends to not let the computer sleep, and they only took an hour to update it. including myself... Hopefully you can try to restart it and try from there not letting it sleep.

Hi,
May be it worked in your case How the job names going to affect the execution of the job. The issue is purely because of RFC timeout (As per the logs). I recommend to change the parameter in the configuration tab as recommended by Sunny in the previous thread.
