Ipad stuck in recovery mode after trying to update in ios6

my ipad is stucked in recovery mode since trying to update in ios 6  any help?

Hi there rmarr1,
The only way to get out of recovery mode is by restoring the device via iTunes. If you initiated the update on iTunes on your computer, there may be a back up of the device that created before the update. Take a look at the articles below for more information.

  • Why is my iPad stuck in recovery mode after iOS 5 update?

I plugged in my iPad2 to sync and download a document.  I noticed that there was an update to iOS 5 so I elected to download the update.  As a result my Ipad seems to be stuck in recovery mode as every time I plug it in and attempt to connect to iTunes I get the message. "Itunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode.  You must restore this iPad before it can be used with itunes."  I do so and after waiting for the update to download it tells me the same thing again.  I have tried different USB ports, rebooting my iPad and the computer and disabling antivirus software.  Please help me I literally need to use my iPad.

I had a similar issue with my Ipad. I had to take it to Apple, they restored the system but after that my IPad did not sync. It was not until an hour ago I read on another forum someone suggesting disconnecting the Ipad abd turning it off, then connecting it to the PC (usb port) and then turning the Ipad on. Try it it may work for you. I tried apple support 3 times before with no luck! Good luck.

  • IPhone 4S stuck in recovery mode after trying to update to iOS 7.

After trying several different things, I still cannot get my phone out of recovery mode. I'm studying abroad and would very much like to not be stuck in Belgium without a phone. I also don't want to go buy a new one if there's a fix for this. I have tried everything from modifying hosts to using TinyUmbrella and it still will not restore. Any ideas?

hi, Dear Dude, I have ever encountered this kind of situation. My iPhone stuck in recovery mode and I try these two methods.
first method is mainmenu--->then,settings--->then,general settings--->then,tap reset option--->then,reset your iPhone
second method is to use iPhone Data Recovery. To me, a computer newbie, it's convenient and useful. It brings my phone back to normal and enables me to recover all my lost data with just one click.
    Either of it can try!

  • Iphone 4s stuck in recovery mode after trying to update

So basically i was on iOS 7.0.0 and when my phone was below 10% and i tried to charge it, it would keep turning on and off every 2 minutes. Somebody had told me to update to the latest version of iOS, so I did. While downloading the new version onto my phone an error code popped up (error 29) and the update bar was only half full. Ever since then my phone  has been stuck in Recovery Mode and I have tried everything I know to fix it. Please  help.

    Hey Justinjoly,
Thanks for the question, I understand how frustrating this may be. It sounds like the update process may have been interrupted, and to resolve the issue, we’ll need to restore your device in recovery mode with iTunes:

Don't know if this will help but when I updated to 4.0.2 my phone gave me an error and bricked.
I made a new user on my computer, installed itunes and then was able to update my phone without it erroring. Once I had a working phone I went back to the old user and updated my phone with all of the information that was there before. I lost a few things but had a working phone.
Since then I have not had a problem with updating it in the old user. You might see if it will help with you all.

    See Here  >  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
You may need to try this More than Once...  Be sure to Follow ALL the Steps...

    iTunes free download from www.itunes.com/download

  • Ipad 2 stuck in recovery mode after trying to update.  Is there any alternative to restoring?

My ipad 2 prompted me to update, the screen went black and now it is in recovery mode with picture to connect cable.
Is there anyway to save content or will I have to restore?

You will have to restore or resync your content. Did you not take a backup prior to starting the update (it's too late to do so now) - if you did then you should be able to restore to that backup.

  • My ipod 4 is stuck in recovery mode after trying to update to 8.0.2

I started to download the new update this morning when it said i did not have enough memory for it, so i deleted a few things and re tried and this time it worked. However once it was done downloading it said i needed to install it, which when i pressed for it to install then said i did not have enough memory to install, so once again i deleted a few things and pressed for it to install again but this caused my iPod to go into recovery mode. when i plugged it into my computer and started up iTunes it said i needed to restore my iPod, having a back up already i did not really care so i selected for it to restore and update however all that happens is the loading bar that says connecting to iPod update server which after a few seconds closes and at the same time my iPod disconnects from iTunes. i have tried multiple times to update and restore it but the same thing keeps happening.  has this anyone got a fix?

Try the following. Jump to DFU mode.
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
    Also maybe:
    Update Server
    Try:
    - Powering off and then back on your router.
    - iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
    - Change the DNS to either Google's or Open DNS servers
    Public DNS — Google Developers
    OpenDNS IP Addresses
    - For one user uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes resolved the problem
    - Try on another computer/network
    - Wait if it is an Apple problem

  • IPod Touch 4G stuck in recovery mode after trying to update iOS!

so while trying to update to the newest iOS (6.1), the iPod just went into recovery mode and has been stuck there ever since. When I try restoring it, it always begins "Extracting software.." only to then tell me "The iPod cannot be restored at this time because the iPod software update server could not be contacted or is temporarily unavailable".
I have tried literally EVERYTHING to restore it but it just won't work!
Also when I run Diagnostics, everything is fine, except for my iTunes Store connectivity part, where it says that the internet connection failed, even though my Internet works just fine & I can open my browser as well as browse the iTunes Store.
Someone said to let the iPod drain & then recharge for 1 hour & I'll try doing that now but I don't think it'll help much..
I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO DO ANYMORE  :-( someone please help!

Errors 3000-3999 (3004, 3013, 3018, 3164, 3194, and so on): Error codes in the 3000 range generally mean that iTunes cannot contact the update server (gs.apple.com) on ports 80 or 443.
Update to the latest version of iTunes.
Verify the computer's date and time are accurate.
Check that your security or firewall software is not interfering with ports 80 or 443, or with the server gs.apple.com.
Follow Troubleshooting security software. Often, uninstalling third-party security software will resolve these errors.
An entry in your hosts file may be redirecting requests to gs.apple.com (see "Unable to contact the iOS software update server gs.apple.com" above).
Internet proxy settings can cause this issue. If you are using a proxy, try without using one.
Test restoring while connected to a known-good network.

  • My iPod is stuck in Recovery Mode after trying to Update...

I was trying to update my ipod 4th gen (ios 6.1.3 or something like that) and it went into Recovery Mode.
My laptop have Windows XP on it and doesn't allow me to plug anything into the USB thingys. I've tried everything to get them to work, but it won't work.
I have also tried to do a hard reset on my ipod, and also tried holding down the home & power button until the apple icon pops up then hold one home button for 5 secs or whatever and it won't work.
    What should I do?
I might give my ipod to a friend and see if her laptop will let me restore it. But it won't be for awhile. /:

  • My iPhone 4S is stuck in recovery mode after trying to update to 6.1

I was given the option to update to to thenew 6.1, and upon my phone resetting after the download I got the (-1) error and my phone was thrown into recovery mode.
I have tried to restore my phone 5 times and each time I keep getting the -1 error code.
Shutting it down with the home key / powe on off button does nothing but return me to the screen where my phone shows me the "plug me into iTunes" photo.
Anyone else wonder if this is apple's way of hitting people up for a $20.00 service fee right after their one year warranty is up?
    Can someone help?

  • IPad stuck in recovery mode while trying to update it, can't reset it

I tried to update it, got errors 4 and 14. Tried to restore it, got errors 4005, 11 and 4013. iTunes recognizes the iPad, but iTunes diagnostics doesn't. I also don't see it in Windows (even though Windows installs the drives when I connect the iPad). Apps like iPhone Recovery don't recognize the device.
I would blame it on my cable, but it charges normally and iTunes does recognize it so I'm very confused. What should I do? I already tried a different PC, but unfortunately I don't have a Mac.

sam as mine, stucked at recovery mode
