  • IPad 2 3G recovery mode loop - tried everything

Hello to all the community. I have an iPad 2 3G version. Update on 7.1 stuck on 60% and since then I am stuck in recovery mode loops with restores never going past 60% and get error 1 or 2 after 30 minutes on itunes.
    What I have tried:
Different USB port, Computer, Cable, iTunes version, firmware version
    DFU mode
Restore with main buttons cable disconnected from the board
I am really desperate. We dont have official apple service in my country and i will cost me more to fix than buy a used working one.
Its really unfair killing my ipad from an official update. Never jailbreaked etc so I cant try to downgrade either.
    Hope someone has a solution...

  • My iPad stucked in recovery mode

My iPad stucked in recovery mode, while upgrading at the end of firmware upgrade step an unknown error occured ( 1 ) and still I'm getting the same error in all my trials, any solution ?

    Hi kweks,
Have you backed up your iPad to iTunes? If you have, then even though a restore will erase your data, you can restore it from a previous backup:
When using recovery mode, you can only restore iPad. All user content on iPad will be erased, but if you had previously synced with iTunes on this computer, you can restore from a previous backup. See this article for more information.

  • Ipad stuck in recovery mode after accidentally unplugging it while updating

ipad stuck in recovery mode after accidentally unplugging it while updating to ios 4.2 . and when trying to restore it back it wont restore, restroing error code is 6 what to do ?

I'm not sure what you can do at this point.  If I had been in your shoes, I would have kept the pics in the camera's SD cards until my return home.
I'm really reluctant to suggest this but, at this point, you probably can't lose.  Do a "Restore."  Be forewarned that it could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
    Edit...
I just took a peek at the TinyUmbrella FAQs.  Your device has been jailbroke and that's likely the reason why the problem occurred to begin with.  Contact the jailbreaker for assistance.  Neither Apple nor anyone on the forum can help you as we do not know the characteristics of your device.

  • IPad Stuck in Recovery Mode - Help!!!!!

Problem 1:  My iPad apps and movies are on an external drive because the space on my iMac internal SSD is only 256GB.  My iTunes Media Folder [500GB of apps and movies] is a lot larger than the internal SSD can hold.  When I plugged in my iPad and tried to update it from the external drive, disaster struck.  All my data, apps, and movies deleted, Gone!!!!!
Problem 2:  The iPad is stuck in an endless Recovery Mode loop.  When I connect the iPad to iTunes a prompt pops up that says “iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes”  When I click OK another prompt pops up that says “Are you sure you want to restore the iPad to its factory settings”  When I click on the Restore and Update button I’m confronted with the following error from iTunes:  “The iPad could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (9)”
When I click OK  I get the same prompt pop up that says “iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes”   It’s an endless loop I can’t  seem to fix.  My iPad is now useless and there is no iOS on it.  Please Help.

As Diavonex said, Error 9 is usually the result of security software getting in the way. Read more about it here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3694?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US#9
Check your security software and settings as Apple suggests in this post: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3125

  • HT201210 Stuck in recovery mode loop on ipad1 with blank screen!!!! After updating to 5.1.1 and error code 37.

Help! i dont know what to do. I need this iPad for college and it's stuck in recovery mode but the screen is blank. I tried downloading to newest itunes, press and hold both home button and power button. NO Joy! i shouldn't have ever updated! It worked just fine.

    Force iPad into Recovery Mode
    1. Turn off iPad
    2. Connect USB cable to computer; leave the other end alone
    3. Press and hold the Home button down and connect the docking end of cable to iPad
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect To iTune" screen
    5. Release the Home button
    6. Open iTune
    7. You should see "iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode"
    8. Use iTune to restore iPad
Note: You need to be patient and repeat the above many times.

  • Why is my iPad stuck in recovery mode after iOS 5 update?

I plugged in my iPad2 to sync and download a document.  I noticed that there was an update to iOS 5 so I elected to download the update.  As a result my Ipad seems to be stuck in recovery mode as every time I plug it in and attempt to connect to iTunes I get the message. "Itunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode.  You must restore this iPad before it can be used with itunes."  I do so and after waiting for the update to download it tells me the same thing again.  I have tried different USB ports, rebooting my iPad and the computer and disabling antivirus software.  Please help me I literally need to use my iPad.

I had a similar issue with my Ipad. I had to take it to Apple, they restored the system but after that my IPad did not sync. It was not until an hour ago I read on another forum someone suggesting disconnecting the Ipad abd turning it off, then connecting it to the PC (usb port) and then turning the Ipad on. Try it it may work for you. I tried apple support 3 times before with no luck! Good luck.

  • Why is my ipad stuck in recovery mode after IOS update?  I can't get it out even after I restore.  Please help!

I did an IOS update and now my iPad is stuck in recovery mode and I can't get it out.  I have tried to restore through iTunes, but after restore it says it is still in recovery mode.  Please help!

Try a Reset [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release. The screen will go blank and then power ON again in the normal way.] It is app and data safe!

  • Iphone 4 stuck in recovery mode loop (non-jailbroken)

This is frustrating me to no end!! I tried to update my iphone 4 to IOS6 via itunes, didn't work because my mac needed at least itunes 6.3.1 but it said everything was up to date. So i tried using a newer mac with an updated itunes, failed after about an hour, & got stuck in the recovery mode loop. Everytime i try to connect to itunes & restore my phone to update, a message pops up saying "could not be restored. this device isn't eligible for the requested build". I've been watching youtube videos for about this for an hour now, nothing. I'm about to go insane, so if anyone has any idea of how i can get out of the loop, that'd be great!!

Apple doesn't fix phones they replace them.
The iPhone warranty is NOT international.  You need to return the phone to the country in which it originated (the EU is considered ONE country for warranty purposes)

  • Iphone 3G stuck in recovery mode loop

okay...i'm sure there a lot of topics on this, but i can't find anything is fixing the issue. i traded my 32gb ipod for a 16gb iphone 3G. i traded it mainly because i wanted to unlock it to t-mobile. i wanted to updated it to ios4 so i wouldn't have to keep unlocking it after each iphone/ipod update. so i updated it, and it went into recovery mode. i tried putting it into dfu mode, and it's stuck in recovery mode. i've tried restoring it and it just loops back into recovery mode. i've tried the whole "hold down the both buttons and release the sleep button but hold the home button until this happens" thing. i'm starting to get really frustrated. i tried uninstalling itunes and reinstalling itunes and the same thing happens. NOW.... i'm getting an error that says that itunes cannot recognize this iphone because of an unknown error. do i need to downgrade os? how do i do that? i just need to be able to get it out of recovery mode so i can unlock it. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! thanks in advance!

I had the same issue. After updating to the new OS4, my iphone failed on a restore. It was stuck in recovery mode. You have to hold down the home key for 7-10 secs, connect to PC(if that's what you are using) and plug into iTunes. Keep holding the button down until iTunes recognizes the phone. You will be given an option to restore to old or update and restore as a new phone. I did the update and restore as my old backup file was corrupted somehow. Unfortunately, I lost everything since my last sync. Still trying to figure out how to extract contact and pic data from an old backup i had saved on a thumbdrive. Good luck!

  • Ipad stuck in recovery mode after trying to update in ios6

my ipad is stucked in recovery mode since trying to update in ios 6  any help?

    Hi there rmarr1,
The only way to get out of recovery mode is by restoring the device via iTunes. If you initiated the update on iTunes on your computer, there may be a back up of the device that created before the update. Take a look at the articles below for more information.

  • First gen ipad stuck in recovery mode with error 28

I have a first generation ipad that is stuck in recovery mode (just shows the itunes logo all the time).  I have tried putting it in dfu mode and restoring it from itunes.  It gets to the point where the computer reboots the ipad and says that it is beginning the restore, but the progress bar never fills up on the ipad and I get an error 28.  It charges and docks fine.  The battery holds a charge for a long time.  The water indicator is still white.  I don't see any visible damage anywhere on the ipad.
I have checked the firewalls on my computer and tested the cable.  Both are fine.  I have also tried using another computer, but I get the same results.
Could it be a bad dock connector even though it charges and is recognized successfully by itunes?  One of the support forums said that error 28 was a hardware issue, but is there any way to tell what is bad without having to take it in to Apple?  It would cost too much to have it serviced, with it being a first generation, so I was hoping that someone out there had some ideas that could help me save it and not have to sell it for parts.

A simple search of the forum for "error 28" yields may results, one being...
    Error 20, 21, 23, 26, 28, 29, 34, 37
These errors typically occur when security software interferes with the restore and update process. FollowTroubleshooting security software issues to resolve this issue. In rare cases, these errors may be a hardware issue. If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.

  • IPad stuck in recovery mode 'preparing software for recovery'

We had tried updatind my iPad several times which came up with error code '1645' and we updated our itunes which had no effect and resulted in us putting it into recovery mode, where it is now stuck.
I've been looking on this post http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808 and at start it says it resolves issues whe your iPad 'Stops responding, showing the Apple logo with no progress bar or a stopped progress bar, for over ten minutes' my iPad is in recovery mode and it gets to the point in itunes where it displays 'preparing software for recovery' we've had it showing no progress on the bar all night and nothing we have done helps. But that support page really doesn't give any solutions.
I've looked on many sites and tried multiple things such as this website http://thehowto.wikidot.com/ipad-stuck-recovery-mode which is suggested lots and has had no effect after following all the steps.
Any help will be highly appreciated
