IPad Stuck on checking for updates

I have an ipad 2 and I want to update to iOS 6.1,3 but when I pressed software update it is stuck on checking for updates what do I do

Gave up. Attached my iPad to my iMac, updated through iTunes. Went back to iPad settings, Same prob.
Was really hoping the update would fix iMessage, FaceTime, Notes and email but I guess my hopes were set too high to get this brand new iPad Air 128 to work like it's supposed too.
Sorry, long day. Negative results. Feeling beat.

  • Stuck on "Checking for Updates"

I just bought a Z10 today and did the upate before using the phone and now it's stuck on "checking for updates" screen. I've taken out the battery and SIM card and left it for 10 min but it still isn't working, I've done this a few times. What am I supposed to do?

Did you try pulling out the battery, wating for a min, and putting in back in?
I faced a similar prblem and this worked for me.

Try a reset.  Hold the on/off and home buttons together for about 10 seconds till the Apple logo appears.

my ipad 2 which is on ios 6.0.1 is not checking for update... when i select settings>general>softwere it just shows ckecking for update and then nothing the loading never ends please help me i wanna update my ipad

Did you actually read the entire article from the website that linked you to here?
You only have the option if you are already running iOS 5. If you are trying to update the iOS, you have to use iTunes on a computer to update the iPad.
From iOS 4 or lower - Here are the instructions.

More instructions here - for all iOS versions.

Or you can connect the iPad to the computer, launch iTunes. Select the iPad under the devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update

  • Blackberry Z10 stuck on 'Checking for updates'

I got the Z10 this morning, I followed the start up bits and it told me to connect to the wifi so I connected it to my home WIFI. It went trough the installations then it's gone to a screen which says "Checking for updates" and a wheel spinning round and round. It's been like this for 20+ minutes now. I took SIM out just in case as I was unsure how to activate my SIM. Even with SIM removed, this happens and it stays on the checkingfor updates page. When SIM is inserted, it's still the same.
It came up with "cannot connect to APN..." with some other information a few moments ago. I've removed the battery while device was on, and put the battery back in. Now it's still on the "Software update, checking for updates" page and I have no idea how to connect to my wifi.

Ok then I recommend reinstalling the OS with an autoloader, info on where to get them and how to do it can be found here...

I have powered off the devivce, removed the battery, left the device a part for hours. I put the device battery back in, power up the device, see the BlackBerry logo, then 'checking for updates' resumes and never stops. The phone is totally unusable. One thing I should mention is that the phone has no SIM inserted. Would this make a difference?
Leave it powered ON, as I stated above.
