    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.

    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Try a soft reset/reboot by holding down the sleep/wake button and the home button until the Apple logo appears, then release both buttons.  Wait a few moments, and hopefully your problem will have vanished.

  • IPad suddenly died

My IPad suddenly died and won't reboot.  It was at 75% battery before it turned off.  I held down the on / off button and the select button together for 30 seconds,  plugged in a power cord - and still won't reboot.  The IPad is only about 1 year old!  Can I try anything else to get it to reboot?

    Hey Sandy533,
Thanks for the question. Have you tried resetting the iPad while it was connected to a power source that has sufficient output? You may want to let it charge for at least 30 minutes before attempting to reset it:

If iPad won't turn on, or the display stops responding
Follow these steps, testing after each:
    1. Turn the iPad off and turn it on again. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button on top of iPad for a few seconds, until a red slider appears. Then slide the slider. Then press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
    2. Reset iPad. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

  • How do I restore my Ipad 4 from my desktop computer? My charger was broken. I bought a new one but now it won't charge. I have a BATTERY bar in the middle of the screen that is flashing RED and I have a symbol on the bottom that looks like a charger.

How do I restore my Ipad 4 from my desktop computer? My charger was damaged so I bought a new one but it won't charge. On my Ipad, I have a BATTERY bar in the middle that is flashing RED and an icon on the bottom that looks like the end of a charger. I have tried to force into reset mode, by holding the sleep key and home button SEVERAL times but it does NOT work. I have plugged my Ipad into my desktop computer, but I do not have a screen on my desktop that is coming up. THIS HAPPENED BEFORE AFTER I DID AN UPDATE AND WAS LOCKED OUT AND I USED EITHER ICLOUD OR ITUNES TO RESTORE, NOT SURE WHICH AND I FORGOT HOW.

    Hi MrsMoosie,
I'm sorry to hear you are having these issues with your iPad. If your iPad isn't responding or doesn't appear to be charging, you may find the information and troubleshooting steps outlined in the following articles helpful, in particular the following portion:
If you don't see the charging screen within an hour, or you see the connect to power screen, check your connector, USB cable, and power adapter. Make sure that everything is plugged in firmly, free of debris, and not damaged. You might want to try a different USB cable or power adapter.
If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch doesn't respond or doesn't turn on - Apple Support
If you can’t charge your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

  • I bought an ipad mini from John Lewis in February. On Saturday the ipad suddenly stopped working. I tried charging it but all it done was go to the start up apple page (black screen with white apple) then shut down and constantly repeat this process.

I took it back to John Lewis today to get fixed as its still under warranty. Because there was scratches on the back of it.... Which is hard to avoid with the slate back!!! I got told apple will probably not fix it as it looks as if I've done it! I couldn't believe it!! If I honestly dropped it that bad to have caused a technical fault inside I would of smashed the screen as the same time!! Absolutely ridiculous as I know it isn't through any fault of my own.

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)

my ipad is not responding , i accdentaily touch delete all contents and setting ,and now it shows a blanck sreen, with the itune icone and uv cord

Assuming that you installed iTunes on your computer, you have to connect your iPad to your computer with the cable - plug the pin connector end into the iPad and the USB connector to a USB port on your computer. iTunes should start up on its own. If it doesn't start up, launch it yourself.
Then follow the directions in this support article.

  • HT1430 iPad suddenly will not recognize my gmail account but 2 other devices do . It keeps telling me I have wrong password. I know it is correct. It quit working after an iOS upday

My iPad suddenly quit recognizing my gmail account. When I enter password I get message that it not correct. I tested password on two other devices and it correct. It also did same thing on wife's account but then corrected that today I don't know how. How can I get around this. It has worked for 3 years. Local Apple guy says it has to be Google but my mail works on a Kindle, Acer computer and Samsung phone so it must be an Apple issue. What can I do?

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

  • When I connect my ipad or ipod to the computer, itunes does not show them as a "device".

When I connect my ipad or ipod to the computer, itunes does not show them as a "device", however my computer can see they are connected. so it seems to be a problem with itunes. i have tried re-installing itunes and it still doesnt work.
My Iphone does show as a device when connecteing wirelessly.
Its not a problem with the driver becasue the computer can see the devices, so its a problem in itunes.

    Hello mimward,
It sounds like Windows can see your devices, but iTunes is not seeing them. I would use the troubleshooting in the following article named:

  • Game doesnt respond to keyboard properly

I'm too baffled to figure out if it's OS X or my game, Warcraft 3, causing the problem.
I dont remember this happening when I played the game a year or two ago (and it's a totally legit version, not a bootleg), but I recently re-installed it and started playingagain.
For anyone unfamiliar with the game, it's an RPG game and you play on a large map and you can use the directional keys to move around the map. the game often doesnt respond to the buttons, so I have to repeatedly press them.
Now, you know when a computer's CPU is maxed and it stalls for a second or two,and if you pressed a button 3 or 4 times it'll perform those actions all at once really quickly as soon as the CPU can do so? It's not like that. My CPU isn't having that trouble. I'll press, say, the up key once...nothing...twice...nothing..three times, finally it moves up. Sometimes just once, sometimes just twice.
But I'd really like to know what's happening. It's ONLY in the game. the rest of the keyboard operates just fine in the game.

Doesn't sound good.   If your machine is under a year old, you still have an opportunity to buy AppleCare and extend the warranty to 3 years from date of computer's initial purchase.  Otherwise, frequently the genius bar will help you troubleshoot a reproducible issue with what is apparently hardware.   Also try the hardware test by booting with the 'D' key.  If that's unrevealing, and you haven't installed new RAM, and they can't figure it out, it is possible the RAM or battery needs replacing, or the power adapter does.
