IPad syncing to iTunes

Hello I have two ipads and a macbook pro. The weird problem which I am facing is that I downloades Asphalt onto my iPad from appstore over wi-fi. After some time I updated it again over wi-fi. Now whenever I connect my iPad to iTunes of my mac for sync and backup , it starts to download Asphalt on my macbook. I have done the "transfer purchases from this iPad " option , "sync" option but still it is re-downloading the huge 1.1 Gb app on my macbook. I would have expected the sync option to transfer back the downloaded app from iPad to macbook.
Am I missing something there ?
One more point , there are a couple of apps which I dont want . I have deleted them from my iPad but they again start to get downloaded whenever I start my iTunes. Anyway to stop that too ?

The iPad requires iTunes version 10.1 (you don't say which version you've got). Apart from that you can connect and sync as many devices as you like to your computer and your iTunes account, and you can either sync the same or different content to your iPod and iPad. There is some info in this article which gives various options as to how you could manage different devices and their content on the same computer : http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1495

  • IPad sync on iTunes..

My wife has an iphone and i have an ipad...itunes always fires up with her account displayed. I plugged my ipad in..gave it a name and it auto-synced with her iTunes a/c. I now have all her music, pics etc now on my iPad and she has all my stuff on her a/c...utter mess! How can i get them off and create my own iTunes account for just my stuff? We have different Apple IDs.
I have tried the 'sign-in' option from the STORE menu within itunes, but although it shows me logged into iTunes, my wifes account is still displayed.

    Thank you Carolyn,
I've tried the advice on this link without succes unfortunately (all steps except nr 10, cause at least i can do something with my ipad now). I have a second empty ipad i got from work and this gives the same error. I also tried it without antivirus and firewall, to no avail. After deleting my MobileSync/Backup files i tried again and my apps were synchronised. Then i tried adding some music, and it appears this is the main problem so it seems:
First "cannot write to drive" and then a message with code 0xE800400C.
I'm going to search the forum for this one, any advice to get me on the right track is naturally much appreciated.
    regards,
    Hugo

  • Movie purchased on iPad & synced to iTunes not appearing on 2d Gen Apple TV

I purchased Terminator 2 on my iPad a week ago and it is synced to my iTunes movie listings. However, when I tried to watch the movie on my new Apple TV (2d gen), it was not listed in my computer library drop down movies menu. I have home sharing set up on both my iMac and the Apple TV and it works fine for everything else: all of my music and every single movie (except T2) and TV show that I have in my iTunes account shows up in the Apple TV menu.
And, yes: T2 does show up in the MOVIES section of my iTunes account on my iMac and I can watch the movie on my iMac, iPad and iPhone without a problem. This one movie simply does not appear on the 2d gen Apple TV!
Any ideas? Thx for any assistance!

Open itunes, connect ipad, click File>Transfer Purchases

  • Why won't my iPad sync with iTunes?

It is stuck on the last step. i have restarted the computer and the iPad several times. it says "waiting for changes to be applied" and step"7 of 7" OR "step 8 of 8"...at the bottom, it shows in blue my audio capacity, however the iPad says there is no music in the library. at first it just wouldnt sync a few songs i bought on iTunes and showed them as shaded, now its taken all my music off the iPad and wont go past this last step. any further suggestions?

Are you on wifi or 30pin to usb? (no difference to the prob, but a possible workaround later can be done if connected by cable).
In the summary tab of your device in iTunes is your device set to Manually Manage in Options at the foot of the page.  And/or: -  Have you got a tick in the option 'sync only ticked songs and videos'?
Can you confirm what options for syncing you have under the tab Music (same tab line as where it says Summary, Info, Apps,)

  • IPad sync issiues - iTunes unable to load dataclass info from Sync Services

Any suggestions on how to overcome this issue? It worked the first time and all of my info from my iPod touch was there, I've made several purchases and downloaded free applications directly from the App store on the iPad. When I tried to do the sync again, I keep getting that same message. The only solution it says is to "reconnect or try again later" which I've done numerous times now. I'll take any/all answers and solutions possible! Thanks so much!

I tried the above but no success.
    I keep getting :
"iTunes was unable to load data class information from Sync Services. Reconnect or try again later"
    followed by
""Itunes could not back up the ipad "<name>" because the backup session failed"."

  • IPad syncing issues

Have two issues when syncing my iPad:
    1) iTunes thinks my iPhone and iPad are one and the same device, so when I sync my iPad, iTunes adds the new apps that I have on my iPhone.
    2) When I sync my iPad my iTunes U programs are erased. This happens whether or not I download them through the iPad or add them via iTunes. Other videos (movies, t.v. shows or podcasts) are not removed.
By the way, I have the "Manually manage music and videos" checked for both my iPhone and iPad.

Does the iPad sync with iTunes? With my iPhone – if I purchase a song or video on my phone – it syncs with iTunes and copies my iPhone purchases to iTunes under "Purchased on iPhone." However, on my iPad nothing that was purchased on the iPad syncs to iTunes. Why? is that normal?
In addition, Apple needs to add the function to stream iTunes to the iPad like it does between Macs. I should be able to purchase a video on my Mac and stream it to my iPad and watch it.
Edit: Just to clarify. I can't add any music, podcasts or videos from my iTunes library without erasing the movies that I purchased on my iPad. Since I can't sync them I assume they will be permanently lost.

  • Having trouble syncing in itunes

I have been having trouble with my ipad syncing in itunes.  It seems that although it is connected, and the ipad IS connected, I have trouble syncing - I have to try over an over and then it just catches.

    Two thoughts:
1,  Are you running the current iTunes (11.0.2) on your computer?  You should be.
    2.  Are you syncing to exactly one computer (and not using another in addition)?  Is the iTunes on your computer set up on your Apple ID and password (and only that iD - in other words, nobody else is using this to sync devices)?

  • How can I share iBooks authored by me using iBook Author on 2 different iPads synced to two different computors? Both iPads have different iTunes accounts.

I am in the process of authoring an eBook using iBook Author.  The project is a work in progress and I want to share the draft with other collegues.  We each have our own iPads synced with other computers and we have different iTunes acounts.  I attempted to preview the book on the new iPad, but the iPad did not come up in the available device window.
Am I missing something or is there a way around this?

  • How to I get my apps off iphone/ipad and into itunes without syncing?

I had my computer crash and recently restored it. I transferred my music back in via a hard drive and now that I am about to resync my phone, I either have to erase the phone with what is in iTunes, or erase what is in itunes with the phone. I have different info in both, so can I pull my contact info and apps off the phone into itunes so when itunes erases the phone, everything is back on?
Or, do I have to erase itunes with phone info and then just reload music from hard drive?
During the crash, I bought an ipad and synced it to a different computer so will need to sync it to this one instead and I have a few apps/podcasts/movies on it as well so don’t want to erase them and may have to do the same thing.
    Thanks!

All apps on your iPhone and iPad should be in your iTunes library on your computer, which should be included with your computer's backup per the instructions included with this link.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1751
With Sync Apps selected under the Apps tab for each device's sync preferences with iTunes, after downloading an app with either device, the app will be copied to your iTunes library automatically the first time you sync the device with iTunes after doing so.
If the apps on each device are different, with your iPhone connected to iTunes and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone. Repeat this for your iPad - Transfer Purchaes From - the name of your iPad.
Then you will need to select Sync Apps under the Apps tab making sure all apps on the connected device are selected below. This will not prevent the device from being erased of all iTunes content with the first sync.
If all apps on either device were in your iTunes library and your iTunes library was backed up per the instructions included with the link provided and restored from said backup, no iTunes content on either device would be erased with the first sync with iTunes.

  • How do I transfer my MacBook Air to my wife so she can sync her iTunes account and other settings with her iPad Mini?

How do I transfer my MacBook Air to my wife so she can sync her iTunes account and other settings with her iPad Mini?

You can change the account shortname to whatever you wish to use.
As you can see from my example above. Once you click on the Create User button a new account will be created.
She will need to get her own Apple ID setup so when she starts with iTunes she can open her own iTunes account unless you both want to share the use of the same Apple ID. This can create a bit of confusion if you have your own iPads or iPhones or iPods. As you have discovered it's pretty much one iDevice with one Apple ID.
As for the iTunes library that becomes a more complicated issue.

  • My contacts vanished when I was manually adding them on my Ipad 2. I use outlook contacts when I sync on ITunes. How can I fix this problem?

I'm having the same issue and I'm using outlook when synchronizing. However, I'm not sure if this is an Oultook vs. MobileMe deal. The thing is: I got my IPad 2, made sync with Itunes and got all contacts from my Outlook and when I was making few adjustments / updates to such contacts directly on my IPad 2 (without being connected to anywhere, the software crashed and the contacts simply VANISHED ! Please help me... I'm really concerned with that because now I have everything on my Outlook, but I gotta be able to update many contacts in events (for example, a meeting or a workshop) directly from my IPad, being away from my computer, and now I'm in total risk of simply losing them... I simply don't believe that a bug with totally affects the product reliability can't be simply solved!
Thanks in advance for your help!

Thanks for starting the thread clisfromSLC.
I am facing the exact same problem with my brand new ipad2. The addition of a single contact post a successful sync, caused the app to crash. Restarting the app did not get the contacts back. Neither did restarting the ipad itself.
I dont want to rely on the ipad now until I have a patch or OS update that corrects this issue. If I add several contacts and suddenly lose all of them, it's not something i really look forward to.
Can someone please help? Thanks so much.
