IPad uneven screen light & overheating issue

have an iPad wifi 64gb and has been working without any issues until today. as I was browsing all of the sudden, noticed that screen became brighter so I went to the panel to adjust brightness but the slider was not responding, or no noticeable change and same went for the auto switch.
the logical thing was to switch off and on but no difference. research thru the forum and follow instructions and again nothing. while doing this set of tests I start noticing that one of the sides was becoming warmer and warmer and the battery percentage started to drop very fast.
have also noticed that there lighting on the right side is uneven.

HI William,
Could be a hardware issue. Take the iPad to an Apple store or an Apple certified repair provider.

Just turned on my ipad 2 wi-fi , black screen lights up to lighter black but I cant see a thing on it... does anyone have any ideas on what's wrong with it?

Try this First... No Data will be Lost...
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)
    Release the Buttons...
If no joy... Try a Restore...
1: Connect the device to Your computer and open iTunes.
2: If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane.

  • Uneven Screen Lighting

    Hi all,
I'm brand new to the Powerbook world, after being totally surprised with a 12" 'book for Christmas! I'm trying to learn about it and the one thing that is bugging me is that I can't seem to get an even lighting on my screen. No matter how I look at it - there is always a gradation of light - from dark at the top to light at the bottom.
I use a 50% gray background - so the effect is pretty obvious. I do graphics work, so I'm concerned about the effect this might have.
Also - at the very bottom of the screen, the screen get's darker - almost as if the edge of the screen is casting a shadow on the screen - though this appears even in a dimly lit room where a shadow wouldn't be cast.
Lots of words, I know - but if anyone can shed some light, I'd appreciate it.
    Joe

This is a general problem with the 12" and is considered somehow "normal. I myself had seen 20 12"s and they all look the same, if you want this problem to vanish you need a different screen size, a bigger laptop. I'm serious, eve if it sounds a bit streange, alll 12"s from apple have this problem. I am actually receiving a new one today (as the previous one, received just before Christmas, died after 2 days). But initially I had the same problem and after talking to some people about it, seeing an apple expert and an IT manager, after seeing all tyhese powerbooks, I realised that this annoying inconvenience is not considered a defect. I myself am tempted to send the second one backk too and get a bigger one, just because of this problem.

  • TS3274 My ipad display will not function, the screen will not display anything when turned on, you can see that the screen lights up but it is completely black

The screen on my iPad will not display, the screen lightens up when powered on but the screen stays black, any fix for this that I can do at home?

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430

  • My ipad's screen has gone completely blank. I can't see anything. Have attempted to update and restore it, but to no avail. Does anyone have an idea on how to resolve this issue?

My ipad's screen has gone completely blank. I can't see anything. Have attempted to update and restore it, but to no avail. Does anyone have an idea on how to resolve this issue?

    Try Reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
Note: Data will not be affected.

  • My ipad will not turn on when I plug it up, the screen light will occasionally blink

my ipad will not turn on when I plug it up, the screen light will occasionally blink, thank you

First, make sure that it's fully charged.
Then, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

  • Minor 5800XM issues - 3.5G - screen light - web ho...

Hi folks - newbie here so please be gentle ! Have just bought a contract with Virgin Mobile (VM) in UK with a 5800XM. Have had it about a month and generally it seems pretty good, but there are handful of minor niggles that perhaps someone can help me with.
First issue is HSDPA (aka 3.5G) - or lack of it. Before purchase I checked with VM and they said "Our network supports HSDPA, the phone will automatically switch to it". But it doesn't. Even when I have line of sight to the phone mast, and the signal indicator shows max, the screen icon remains on "3G" and won't switch to "3.5G". I have a further call in to VM to check this, but it's always possible that somewhere in the phone settings there is something that inhibits this switching to 3.5G. Does anyone know of any such setting & where it might be ?
Second issue is the screen light. I use the music player in the car connected to the aux socket on the stereo, and I want the screen light to stay on so I can see what track's playing. I know that'll hit the battery life but that isn't a problem because it'll be plugged into the car charger. But I can't find a setting to do that - all I can do is delay the auto screen-off up to 60 secs, there seems no option to have it on permanently. Have tried disabling the auto keyguard but that doesn't affect the light. Any ideas ?
Third, when I connect to the web, the phone automatically connects to the VM portal page which contains loads of graphics and isn't what I want. I want to over-write this with a homepage of my choice, but can't see how to do this. Have tried setting another page as "Homepage" and I get to this through the options with another couple of taps, but I want to go straight there without going through VM. Any idea how to overwrite this setting ?
    Thanks in advance

I'd advise against changing the CCFL on your own. Chances of destroying the panel by allowing the dust specs to get in between the layers are way too high for my liking.
Presuming this is a 15" unit, a NOS LG Philips SXGA+ IPS panel can be had for $50-60...
Do you have the Power Manager installed? While battery life definitely suffers when one moves from XP to W7, it shouldn't be *that* drastic of a change...

  • My iPad 2 screen won't "lock" or "turn off" after being left unused since ios7 update

Hi, I hope this hasn't already been covered I have had a look and on other sites but haven't come across nothing.
Since I have updated to ios7 my iPad 2 screen now doesn't lock when left unused, I can manually lock it by pushing the lock button but it won't do it by its self no more, my iPhone does so I'm assuming it's not a new thing that came with the update. It's not a huge issue, it's more annoying, my battery is forever low as it drains it when I forget to lock it myself. I have had a look through the settings and can't see how to change this, I'm not a very technical person though so I know I may have missed it somewhere or am just being very blonde,, thank you in advance for any light shed on this.

    Hello there, AllThingsShiney.
You may just have to set the "auto-lock time". The following Link from the iPad User's Guide should help:
Sleep/Wake button - iPad User Guide
    http://help.apple.com/ipad/7/#/iPad9940ef67
    Specifically:
Set the auto-lock time. Go to Settings > General > Auto-Lock.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

  • Is it possible to adjust iPad's screen colours?

I want to reduce the amount of blue light emitted by my iPad's screen. The screen's brightness is ok. I've tried the inverted colour screen but don't like it. I can't find anything in Settings and/or Accessibility for this issue. Thanks in advance for any help.

To my knowledge, it's not possible.

  • Dead Pixel , or uneven screen brightness test

    Hello
I will get my new Imac monday.
Could you please tell me how can I check the screen for dead pixels or uneven screen brightness issues?
    Thank you fpor your help
Please when you explain, take in consideration that I never used a mac before,
    I am a switcher
    Many thx

Normally you will see any stuck (colored) or dead (black) pixels right from the get go. Many times stuck pixels will unstick over time or by running pixel fixers.
    example: http://www.jscreenfix.com/basic.php
In the unlikely event that you have any dead pixels, contact Apple, your local Apple Store or Apple Service Provider there really good about making things right.
All computer displays will exhibit some sort of unevenness and or back light leakage, but most folks don't notice or worry about it. Unevenness can be seen using a solid light gray or light blue back ground and backlight leakage can be checked using a black screen.
+Just slap up your favorite photo's or wallpapers on the desktop and move on.+

  • My iPad 2 has light bleeding problem, service center guy told me it's a known cosmetic problem, can't do exchange...

My iPad 2 has light bleeding problem, I called Technical Support Number (Singapore), they told me to go to an Apple authorized service centre in Singapore. So I travel an hour to there, then they told me to contact Apple online since it's a cosmetic problem, they can't send it for repair or exchange...

    Hi Peter,
There are always issues with the screen on devices. In the case of slight bleeding, one QC engineer might pass the product while another might not, due to color and lighting perception differences between engineers.
Different service centre will have different service levels due to the fact that this IS Singapore...
I suggest going down to QCD.
    [email protected]
If it's a Starhub or Singtel set, it's more effective to be exchanging with them since it's not been a week since purchase (I assume).
    Cheers!

  • Lenovo T400 screen goes dark issue, some video driver problem

    Lenovo:
    Motherboard:
    CPU Type: Mobile DualCore Intel Core 2 Duo P8600, 2400 MHz (9 x 267)
    Motherboard Chipset:  Intel Cantiga GM45
System Memory: 1992 MB (DDR3 SDRAM)
    BIOS Type: Phoenix (08/19/08)
    Display:
Video Adapter: Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family
Video Adapter: Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family
3D Accelerator: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470
    Problem/Issue:
Driver problem appeard after upgrading from XP to Windows 7.
From the Device Manager I saw that ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470 was not working properly and
    a) I did the "update driver software." After restart the screen light was darker than usual. (This was usual if I was working from battery but I was plugged in this time. )
As I'm not the best with computers I thought my drivers might be in conflict and to prevent serious damages, I just
    b) disabled ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470 from device manager.
This actually resolved the dark screen problem.
    c) then I went to Lenovo support site: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/research/hints-or-tips/detail.page?&LegacyDocID=MIGR-72858
downloaded newest drivers for ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3400 (Switchable Graphics Driver)
and Intel 4500MHD (Intel GM45 Express Chip)
For some reason while installine the: Intel GM45 Display Driver (version 8.15.10.2302) gives me error:
"This Computer Does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software"
Also some problem appeard when installing the new downloaded version:
ThinkPad Switchable Graphics Driver  (version 8.792.5-110424b-119200C)
    d) so I went back to device manager and made an update to ATI Mobility Radeon  from there.
Well, I got it working, but the screen went dark again. When I disable the driver it goes back to normal
brightness and when I enable it again, it stays normal.
I'll try to restart and see what happens

We had the excat same issue.
I could get the picuture back pressing the power button until it went to sleep and then wake it up again.
After the I went to device manager to delete all display drivers both Intel and ATI and then reboot.
doing the reboot windows found some drivers it could use.
I then installed the switchable driver from lenovo.
Now windows device manger report two display drivers:
    1)
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3400 Series, Version 8.792.5.2000, Driver manufacturer ATI Technologies Inc
    2)
Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family, Version, Version 8.792.5.2000, Driver manufacturer ATI Technologies Inc
So it seams the switchable ATI driver take over the Intel card and the Intel driver is not needed.
At least the problem is solved for us.
    Regards Anders

  • Screen light auto turn dark when I use program/web with background dark in windows 8.1

    Hi there,
I used HP Pavilion dv6t-6000 CTO Quad for 3 years.
    CPU: Intel core i7-2630QM
    GPU: AMD Radeon 6490m
It build in windows 7 and I manual install ( fresh install ) windows 8. It's fine. But when I upgrade to windows 8.1, it have an issue and I really hate it.
When I use "Sublime Text" ( with background is black ), the screen light is become darker. And when I back to ( e.g: a website with background is white ), the screen turn back to lighter.
I tried many ways, included 4 ways here but it's NOT WORK.
    NOTE: When I used Option 1 ( upper )
    1. Open PC settings, and click/tap on PC and devices on the left side
    2. Click/tap on Power and sleep on the left side, and turn on or off Adjust my screen brightness automatically on the right side under Brightness.
==> It's NOT SHOW button "Adjust my screen brightness automatically". It mean: I have NO built in auto brightness sensor.
I think this issue is about AMD driver or Intel Graphic driver.
    Is anybody have idea???

i grasp that after updating your system from Windows 8 to 8.1 you are having an issue with the display going dim.
You have tried some steps you located on the web but there was no change.
Windows 8 an 8.1 are not supported Operating Systems for your notebook.  This does not mean they will not work only that HP has not tested it and therefore does not supply updated drivers.  You would need to check the manufacturer's site for any updated drivers.

When I checked the driver page for your notebook I did notice there is a  bios update, have you done that?
