    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Bonjour entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • Syncing ipad to iTunes error message

I have a new MAC and an older iPad.  I initially synced it, but, now it will no longer let me do that.  I open the iTunes, can see that the iPad is connected, hit the sync button and then wait.  It goes through steps 1 and 2 and then flashes to the step 5 of 5 and I get the following error message:
could not back up the iPad because it is not connected.
Turned off MAC, turned off iPad and still not able to do it getting the same error messages.  Any ideas?  Thanks

Eject the iPad from iTunes and the Mac, reboot the Mac again and try resetting the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears on the screen. Let go of the buttons and let the iPad start up and then try again.

  • IPhone 4S bricked after 6.1 update - iTunes errors 21/1611

Yesterday my iPhone 4S asked me to install the iOS 6.1 update (via the Settings.app) "over the air". After downloading and preparing the update, the iPhone rebooted itself to start the update process.
Unfortunately, this is where it all went wrong. It seems like the iPhone update failed somewhere along this process. It is now stuck in "Recovery Mode", with the picture showing me to connect the phone to iTunes.
I have tried countless times restoring the phone via iTunes, on 4 different computers, and on Windows 7 and OS X.
Nothing works. The restore process fails during the "Preparing iPhone" phase.
    Here's what happens every time:
I can see the phone being restarted.
The Apple logo shows up, and a little wheel in the bottom of the screen starts spinning
As soon as (usually even before) the progress bar shows up on the phone, the device suddenly shuts down
The iPhone reboots right back into recovery mode, asking me to connect to iTunes
I'm quite desperate at this point. I have followed all steps imaginable (including turning off Windows firewall and antivirus software), but even then the restore still won't complete. iTunes always gives me the same error: 1611.
When putting the phone into DFU manually, it gives me another error: 21.
Both seem to point to third-party security software interfering with the restore process.
However, having tried this on 4 different computers, I am 99% sure that this is not the issue. So far I've tried:
    HP Laptop - Windows 7
    Asus Desktop - Windows 7
    2010 Macbook Pro 15" - OS X Mountain Lion + Windows 8 (Bootcamp)
    2010 Macbook Pro 13" - OS X Mountain Lion
Also, I should mention that in Belgium there aren't any official Apple Stores where I can book an appointment at a Genius Bar. Is this 4S doomed?

    @Hasan123
Hasan123Unfortunately I wouldn't be able to downgrade to lower iOS versions even if I managed to get a restore going...

Check your hosts file in Windows / OS X. This guide might help solve your problem: http://jaxov.com/2011/03/how-to-fix-itunes-error-3014-while-restoring-firmware/
    @wuzi36
I have already tried restoring the phone on my Macbook Pro running Windows 8 Pro, with the latest version of iTunes, but unfortunately the same errors still pop up...
    @Lawrence Finch
Antivirus and firewall are off, access to the Apple update verification servers is not the problem...
    @.tomaZ
Errors 1611 (in recovery mode) and sometimes 21 (when restoring in DFU mode).

  • HT5654 Can't update itunes error 3072

Error message 3072 when I try to do latest software update itunes 11.0.5

    Hello Selfdeterminant,
Have you tried the steps as mentioned in this Apple Support kb for the iTunes Error after iTunes 11.1.4 Update : http://support.apple.com/kb/ts5376
Did you remove all the iTunes and its Components in the Given Order.
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support ( If unable to remove you can ignore it )
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
If you are unable to download iTunes Setup file using the Default browser then have you tried downloading iTunes with a different Web Browser, if not then try that. ( Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome)
Save the iTunes Installer file in the Location where you can easily find it
After removing iTunes and its components Restart your Computer once and then Right click the iTunes Setup.exe file and run the Program as Administrator
If you are using the 64 Bit version of Windows on your computer then it is Good to change the Install Location from " C:\Program Files(x86)\iTunes " To " C:\Program Files\iTunes " while installing iTunes when it asks for the Location.

  • During ipad update itunes message

During ipad software update I received a screen to plug the ipad into itunes. What is this?

    Hi roberta153,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.  it sounds like you have reached the screen that appears in this article:
iOS: Unable to update or restore
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808
I would try connecting it to iTunes to see if you receive the pop up message listed in the article, and if so, continue with the instructions in the article.

  • Iphone 5s 7.1.2 update itunes error 12

Hi I got an iphone 5s and updated yesterday to 7.1.2 and I downloaded it and it put it in to recovery mode and tells me to plug in to iTunes so I plugged it in and I go to restore the phone and it gets to about 3/4 of the way then comes up saying on my iTunes error 12 is there any fix for this?

    Hey olliechilders,
Thanks for the question. I understand that you are receiving error code 12 when attempting to update/restore your device. The following resource outlines this error code and a potential resolution:
Resolve iOS update and restore errors
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3694
    Check for hardware issues
    Related errors: 1, 3, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 20, 21, 23, 26, 27, 28, 29, 34, 35, 36, 37, 40, 1000, 1002, 1004, 1011, 1012, 1014, 1667, or 1669.
These errors mean that your device or computer may have a hardware issue that's preventing the update or restore from completing.
    1. Check that your security software and settings aren't preventing your device from communicating with the Apple update server.
    2. Then try to restore your iOS device two more times while connected with a cable, computer, and network you know are good.
    3. Confirm that your security software and settings are allowing communication between your device and update servers.
    4. If you still see the error message when you update or restore, contact Apple support.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

There is some troubleshooting for error code 3014 on this page : http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3694
This error occurs when iTunes is unable to reach gs.apple.com in a timely fashion. Follow the steps below in Unable to contact the iOS software update server gs.apple.com.
Unable to contact the iOS software update server gs.apple.com
Error 1004, 1013, 1638, 3014, 3194: These errors may be the result of the connection to gs.apple.com being redirected or blocked. Follow these steps to resolve these errors:
Install the latest version of iTunes.
Check security software. Ensure that communication to gs.apple.com is allowed. Follow this article for assistance with security software. iTunes for Windows: Troubleshooting security software issues.
Check the hosts file. The restore will fail if there is an active entry to redirect gs.apple.com. Follow iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting to edit the hosts file or revert to a default hosts file. See section "Blocked by configuration: (Mac OS X/Windows) > Rebuild network information".
Try to restore from another known-good computer and network.
If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.

  • IPad update/restore error and itunes no longer recognizes device

I just updated my iPad to 5  today.  An error occurred during the restore and it is now stuck on the "connect to itunes" screen.  I have followed all the instructions to restart my iPad but now itunes will not recognize it.  When I follow these steps, the connect to itunes screen comes on but itunes does not start on my computer.  When I open itunes, the ipad is not listed as a device.  I've researched a ton of threads and have tried the following with NO success.
    Different USB
    Verified current version of itunes
    Verified & restarted AMDS
    Reinstalled itunes
    Temporarily disabled security software.
    Ran msconfgs
I am so frustrated that nothing has worked and my iPad is still stuck.  I wish I had never done the update.  Please help!

  • ITunes 10 aborts iPad update with error 1631

    Hi all,
I've just switched to iTunes 10 and tried to "search for updates" for my lovely iPad 32GB+3G (without using a micro sim). But iTunes 10 aborts my update reques with a errorcode 1631. The message is like that: "itunes was unable to search for updates for the network operator settings for your iphone."
iTunes 9 was working fine. My iPhone is working with iTunes 10 as expected.
So, what should I try, before downgrading to iTunes 9 again?

I upgraded to itunes 10 (awefully long and slow process) and now my netbook cannot find my ipad. Windows Xp can. The ipad registers on itunes with the same cable on another computer.
I have followed the advice on the Apple support page
    1. Have stopped and restarted the ipad service
    2. uninstalled and reinstalled itunes 10
    3. uninstalled itunes 9 and reinstalled itunes 10 (the itunes libary will not read and itunes fails to start)
    4. have reinstalled itunes 10
And still itunes 10 will not find the device.
This has been a totally awful experience worthy of a microsoft vista award

  • Updated itunes, error message about mobile popped up during installation, then after installation, tunes will not start. gives error that a dll file is missing.

I downloaded the new Itunes version. During installation, there was an error message that said no Mobile access.  After installation, Itunes would not open.  Gave an error message that a DLL file was not found. Removed itunes from computer and initiated new download.  Same problem with new download. Still does not open. I'm stumped.  I have over  30,000 files in itunes and use it every day HELP

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

  • IPad update failed, error 1602

Does anyone know how to fix this?
I connected iPad to windowx xp desktop with latest itunes and it asked to update the iPad. After the update failed, it keeps showing connect to itunes on iPad, yet the itunes doesn't seem to recognize it. Also as I connect iPad it shows in the bottom right *Apple Mobile Device (recovery mode)* and Found New Hardware window pops up. Does this mean I will lose all apps and saved files/books?

Thanks but I'm not even able to recover at the moment.. I called in and did what the support suggested, uninstalling all 3 apple programs + itunes and quicktime and restarted, reinstalled itunes, restarted and plugged ipad back in. Result is still the same. iPad shows connect to itunes and my computer displays "Found New Hardware" window while itunes doesn't show any devices. So I'm guessing something with drivers?
This is what it shows in device manager:

I wish I didn't do the update at all
You need to do the updates, because they slowly improve the performance of your iPad. And soon, iOS 4.0 is coming, which you will absolutely want, because it take the iPad to a whole new world.
I'm not even close to being an expert on Windows, not having used it in about 10 years. But I've monitored this board for a while, so here are some suggestions:
    1. Try a different USB port, if you have one. Don't use a USB hub, try to connect directly to your computer.
    2. If possible, see if your cable is damaged. It happens.
    3. Before doing this, just make sure you have complete backup files from your most recent backup. I'm not sure where to find them, but as I recall, they should be located in your iTunes files. Then, completely reset and wipe your iPad, by going to Settings, General, Reset. Again, don't even consider this if you can't find your backup locations. You might want to search these discussions with "backup AND Windows AND location" to see where they're located.
If none of this works, go to an Apple Genius. He can plug you into a Mac to see if the iPad has a problem.
Again, it's not the update that caused the problem, it's a corrupted file or something. You'll fix it, so don't worry.

  • Tried updating iTunes- error 7 (Windows Error 127)

I tried to update my iTunes on my Windows XP and the download went fine but now when I try to open it I get an error 7 message along with (windows error 127) what do I do now?

Brilliant. Thanks a lot. I've wasted a couple of hours on this nasty bug, & trying all the other suggestions across various threads again and again.
I now find I had the same registry entry hanging on, despite uninstalling & wiping everything again and again. Having now deleted this key, (I don't even have an iPod), & iTunes 11.1.14 now opens at long last.
But WHY is this bug not fixed? Enough people are suffering with this across the forum. WHERE is Apple support on this?
It should have been added to their page at
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
    by now, why hasn't it???
    It's not good enough!
    Re:
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SharedDlls]
    "C:\\Program Files\\iPod\\bin\\iPodService.exe"=dword:80000000
AHA! This entry for iPodService.exe still exhisted.  So I had no folders on the PC, no installs on the PC and no services running.... BUT this was still in the Registry.
Step 5 - Delete only the Registry entry above.  NO REBOOT
    Step 6 - Reinstall iTunes64.exe
