Ipad upgrade question

I am considering an Ipad for my wife who is home bound. I do not want to buy this month and then have a new higher capacity and new functionallity version come out in a month or two. Does anyone have info on when Apple will be bringing out a new version? Will I need a 32gb or 64gb machine for cruising the internet and email using wifi?

Nobody on here will have any info about (or if they do know then non-disclosure prevents them saying) what Apple's plans are for the iPad. If the current version meets your needs, and you can afford, the you might as well get it now rather than wait for an unknown release date.
For just browsing the internet and email 16 gig would suffice. It's music, movies, and, to a lesser extent, apps and photos that take up space.

My iPad (Verizon) and iPhone were stolen from my car. My iPad has an upgrade available. I understand that normally the iPad can only be upgraded to another tablet. But someone told me I may be able to switch the upgrade to a phone.
I have an old Verizon phone I'm not using. I think the process was perhaps to activate this old phone on the iPad's phone number then upgrade to an iPhone. Or perhaps it was to activate the old phone on a new line and then switch the iPad's upgrade to it. I am not sure.

Oh my! That definitely sounds upsetting. I fully understand how aggravating it can be to have your devices stolen. The good news is, we do have options. Do you recall if insurance was selected on either lines? When it comes to upgrading a tablet line unfortunately our system does document the type of upgrade and type of device that was previously used even if you were to activate a basi device. My sincere apologies that you would be unable to utilize this upgrade to obtain a smartphone or basic device. Have you considered utilizing http://vz.to/ZILXBT? Please keep us posted, thanks!

If you still have access to your old email address, go to https//appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your iCloud ID. Tap edit next to the primary email account, tap Edit, change it back to your old email account and verify it. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https//appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was. You can now go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your correct iCloud ID and password.
If you don't have access to your old email address, you will have to contact Apple to have them reset the password so you can disable Find My iPhone and sign into your iCloud account. You can either go to https://expresslane.apple.com, select "More Products and Services", then "Apple ID", then on the next page select "Other Apple ID Topics", then "Lost or forgotten Apple ID password" and click "Continue"; or you can contact Apple Support (http://www.apple.com/support/icloud/contact/).

You can't install iOS 6.1.6 on that device and must update it to 7.0.6.

If you have ever used TinyUmbrella your HOSTS file could be redirecting the request to a local server or Cydia.
Look for any entries which redirect gs.apple.com and comment out or remove.

I am the original owner of an ipad and it woke it yesterday requiring me to activate it using the original apple id used to set it up.
It will not accept my apple id and password.
It does not show up in my icloud under devices.
I have tried hard restart (home + power) and itunes recovery.
I am out of ideas and have not found anything for original owners (as opposed to someone who bought it from someone else). I did see some posts from last year where a few people had the same problem and took it back to apple and got a refurbished unit given to them since customer service and engineering couldn't fix it. I was wondering if this was related to the recent ios8 upgrade. Anybody else have ideas or same problem before I hike down to the apple store for mercy?

Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPad?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after It shuts down, press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds).

If the reset doesn't work, force the iPad into Recovery Mode
1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button.
5. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: You need to be patient and repeat the above many times to recover your iPad. Data will be lost.

Another RAM upgrade question

Hi everyone,
I know there seems to be lots of RAM upgrade questions here but hey thats what forums are for.
I'm looking to upgrade my macbook's RAM it's currently got 2GB (2x1GB)
Is it possible to purchase 1x4GB and put that with one of my current 1GB sticks to create a total of 5GB?
I would be interested to know if this is possible or if anyone has tried it.

I am trying to resolve a problem where someone tried to set up a second iPad on the same Apple ID account. I have partially solved the problem by creating a new Apple ID for the second iPad, but when I went to change the iCloud setting, my only option to change it was the 'Delete Account' button. I just want to make sure that I'm not going to accidentally delete the old Apple ID account because the fist iPad still needs to sync to that ID.

IPad 2 upgrade question

If i buy the new ipad 2, can I transfer all of the data from my ipad 1 backup?
I want to keep all the apps and data I have on my iPad 1.
Or do I have to buy everything all over again?

the backup path give you stuff like settings and "save games"
but just for the apps you don't need to do anything
apps are tied to the itunes apple_ID account and any ios device you connect to your itunes
can get the apps onto them
had a ton of apps in my itunes and got a new iphone4 and was somewhat of a bother that it would automatic begin to sync every single app (compatible with iphones of cause) to it where I only wanted a smaller subset as my ipod touch was 32GB and my iphone was 16GB
so basicly you can buy 10 ipad1g and 10 ipad2g and put the apps in your itunes on as many or few of them as you see fit
