Ipad usage international?

Can I use my ipad while traveling in Europe (ireland) from the US?
THANK YOU!

Yes. The AC adaptors switch automatically. However, you may need a wall outlet adaptor for countries that don't use outlets like in the US. Get the Travel Adaptors from Apple's store.

  • Communicate between 2 ipads over internal wifi only

Can I communicate between 2 ipads over internal wifi WITHOUT internet? They are on the same subnet and would have network access to each other, but it seems to IM or message between them it must go over the internet.

If you want to message between the two iPads, yes you must be connected to the Internet as the messages are transmitted via Apple Servers.

  • Best iPad for international (mostly Asia) use?

What is the best iPad for international (mostly Asia) use?  AT&T or Verizon.

Yes. All newer iPads accept local GSM sim cards. Of course the local provider would have to support iPad data plans. But it does not matter which iPad as they all have this capability.
I assume we are talking about the iPad that supports 3G and not the wifi only iPad.

  • Ipad 3G International Usage

Hello everyone, i hoping to be an Ipad user in the near future and i have a question about the 3G. As a UK user... if i brought a 3G sim card and then went on holiday or anywhere other than the UK. Would i still remain connected to the 3G network or any other network other than wifi?

Some helpful information I have discovered while motorhoming and boating throughout the US & Canada.
traveling internet for my laptop / Iphone 3g and now Ipad 3g.
I purchased a virgin mobile mifi hotspot for $149.00 Radio Shack USA $40/Month unlimited usage, pay as you go (they now have changed to 5 Gigs at full speed, and slow you down if you exceed 5 GB in the current month).
A small external device that allows up to 5 connections within a 40 foot range.
Charge it up and it is good for 8 hrs standby and 4 hours usage.
When I travel in Canada, I switch to my rogers mifi hardware and get similar rates for travel in Canada. (I don't know if Rogers offer pay as you go)
I am now conflicted on buying a 3g ipad or non 3g and simply continue with the usage of my virgin and rogers mifi's.
I may travel abroad and neither my virgin mifi or rogers mifi (rogers has a roaming agreement with ATT USA, very expensive tho) will not work and therefore am in the same predicament as you should I travel to Mexico, the Bahamas or England.
    Now for my question....
Can I buy a mifi device that allows me to switch sim cards to the respective countries and buy local time? rather than possibly paying $150 for each piece of hardware.
    Thanks,

  • IPad Usage not correctly showing!

I have 3rd Generation ipad 32GB Wifi + Cellular running on iOS 7. When I see usage [Settings>General>Usage] its only 6 GB Available and 21 GB is used.
When I manually total the size of applications its only 6.5 gb, then where is my extra space going. I have tried rebooting.

go back to settings and look at usage again - then wait a minute or so.  a listing of apps will appear, and if you tap one, you will see the total program, p,us data associated with that app.  you may have a lot of data associated with some of your apps.  for example, i have pages.  the app shows as 373meg.  when I tap the app - it shows me total program and data is 1.4G.  Add those up, and you will approach the larger number you see above.
pictures, audio, video, and comic books eat up space.

  • Ipad usage, other

When I link my ipad to my computer and view my usage, it says 'other' is taking up 3.83gb. What does that mean?

How Do I Get Rid Of The “Other” Data Stored On My iPad Or iPhone?
    http://tinyurl.com/85w6xwn
With an iOS device, the “Other” space in iTunes is used to store things like documents, settings, caches, and a few other important items. If you sync lots of documents to apps like GoodReader, DropCopy, or anything else that reads external files, your storage use can skyrocket. With iOS 5/6, you can see exactly which applications are taking up the most space. Just head to Settings > General > Usage, and tap the button labeled Show All Apps. The storage section will show you the app and how much storage space it is taking up. Tap on the app name to get a description of the additional storage space being used by the app’s documents and data. You can remove the storage-hogging application and all of its data directly from this screen, or manually remove the data by opening the app. Some applications, especially those designed by Apple, will allow you to remove stored data by swiping from left to right on the item to reveal a Delete button.

Would data charges be charged by Verizon?  If so , advisable to switch to their international plan, temporarily?

  • IPad chargers, International??

I am buying an iPad from the USA. We have 230V ports in Norway. Will my iPod charger(bought in Norway) work on the iPad that i am buying from the USA? I know for certain that the piece that goes into the iPod and to the iPad is the same...
    Any idea?
    Thanks, Dalla!

The iPad charger that comes with all iPads is an International charger.
All you need is a plug convertor so you can plug it into the sockets in Norway.
No transformers are required. You can use the charger that comes with the iPad.
The iPod charger you have will work, BUT it will charge the iPad much slower as it has a lower wattage rating.

  • Any way that I can restrict my ipad usage

I am constantly on my ipad 24/7 and it's getting very distracting especially when I want to go to bed. It will keep me up for hours since I am unable to put it down. Is there an app or a feature that can restrict my app usage between certain hours or anything like that?

Go to the clock app and set the alarm for your bed time. Use the sci-fi sound, you'll be glad to turn it off. Even if there were an app to to restrict usage you'd delete it the first time you wanted to stay up longer.

  • Discrepency between ipad photo moments and ipad usage stats

Following a extended holiday overseas i downloaded a large number od photos via sd card reader, most of these have now been deleted and photo moments currently shows 320 photos however settings >usage> photos shows 4.5gb. If i connect itunes the usage meter also shows photos 4.5gb  and 777 photos. ois 8.1 any assistance suggestion much appreciated ( have tried reset and restore )

You can't use Bluetooth to share the photos unless you use AirDrop and your Mac has to meet certain requirements in order to do that. You can read about that here.

I'm not sure why you just wouldn't sync the photos using iTunes. That's how I move my iPhoto albums and events from my MBP to my iOS devices. The newest iTunes interface is not the same as this one, but the process still works the same way.

  • Limit iPad usage to use it in a showcase

    Hi,
I would like to know if is it possible to limit the usage of my ipad to an app/website. I would like to use it in a stand to show my website, but people shouldn't be capable of leaving the app, or safari.
    is it possible? thanks

There is no way to limit use to a particular app, short of getting a custom app developed.  It can be done via programming, I believe.  I have seen several, on a stand, locked to a specific site by merely having the tand or case built so that the home button cannot be touched.  With only the screen accessible, they can only do things based on your touch screen options.

  • IPad for international travel.

We are heading for Europe (mostly Italy) and will be in an apartment that has no access to WiFi. I am wondering if It is possible to use a US purchased 3G iPad in Europe. Does anybody have any ideas about whether I can and, if so, what I will have to do to make it work?

    You have several choices:
    1. You can get an AT&T International Data Plan (note that you must have a domestic data plan first). http://forums.wireless.att.com/t5/Apple/iPad-Wi-Fi-3G-Information/td-p/1925513
    2. You can get a local data plan and micro sim in Italy. (Check that 3G is available where you will be staying.) http://areaclienti.tre.it/ac3pages/18455_ITAHTML.htm
    3. Another Italian alternative. http://ipad.vodafone.it/
    4. Get a Europe-wide micro sim (not any cheaper than the AT&T International Plan). http://www.maxroam.com/Shop/Product/Detail.aspx?ProductId=787
