IPad very slow findinf Apple TV

I've a iPhone 3gs and after all the upgrade Air Play is excellent...
I've also an iPad and it takes 5 to 10 minutes to find the apple tv to airplay with, sometimes it see the apple tv only as speakers even if I'm playing video...
All set up are exactely the same and all device are connected to the same wifi network on a time caspule.
The only difference that I can see is that the iphone 3gs is connected in "g" at 2,4ghz while the ipad is in "n" at 5ghz
No idea about the apple tv, for sure in n I don't konw if in 2.4 or 5ghz
I'm the only one with this bug?!?

I'm also having a very slow or unresponsive download from my ipad to the atv2. I'm able to stream music most of the time although inconsistent. It takes several minutes to download a photo and video does not stream at all. I'm getting 4 bars of signal on the atv2 and 3 mgb/s on the ipad.
What does the wifi strength need to be for this to work?

Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.

Reset all settings
Settings > General > Reset > Reset all Settings.
This will return all iDevice settings to factory defaults... you will not lose any data.... But you will have to re-enter all of the device settings.

Accessing and using Facebook on iPad very slow...

1. Accessing Internet on 3G network very slow on iPad3.
2. Facebook dont function properly on iPad3. Comments entered on Facebook not taken in. Apple support mention there is Facebook apps for iPAD but couldn't find any.
3. battery support - drains off very quickly although did not run multiply apps simultaneously. Had also turned off many unnecessary apps software alerts.
Anyone encountering similar problems as me.? All comments and advice welcome. thanks.

There is a Facebook app. It's not perfect. Most of the problems you experience with Facebook on your iPad are being caused by Facebook and not your iPad.
There could be many reasons why your 3G is experiencing problems. Interference, weak signal, etc. etc. Mine works very well when the signal is strong.

Snow Leopard running very slow after Apple security update 10-05

I installed the security update that came out Tuesday 8/24. After restarting I noticed that both my browsers (Safari 5.1 and Firefox 3.8) were running so slow they would time out before loading a webpage. Also my VLC media player was very slow to start streaming audio.
I think there's something wrong with my iMac 2.8 Ghz (Model 8,1) related to the security update. This is the first problem I've had with the in months. I had to post this note using a PC.
Help!

After restarting the iMac, everything is running as fast as usual. It must have needed an extra shut down and start up.

10.8.3 - very very slow + often Apple wheel!

I previously had Snow Leopard 10.6.8 on my iMac 2.66 Intel Core 2 Duo; excellent, very fast and reliable.
Then I bought an iPad and since I needed to use iCloud syncing functionalities, I therefore had to upgrade my iMac OS to Mountain Lion...unfortunately!
The machine takes now almost 3 minutes to start, after that Mail (v6.3) takes an additional 2 minutes before it's fully functional, so it happens I have to wait some 5 minutes before I can read or write an email......
And that's not all; the infamous Apple wheel appears after starting most of my usual applications (Lightroom, Photoshop, even Firefox, Skype and others) and the whole machine seems very sluggish and poorly reactive
And, last but not least, I also found out I can't use as before my external monitor with its native resolution....Mountain Lion doesn't detect it !!!
Not happy at all with it, but my main concern is how to fix it.

First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive might be failing.
There are a few other possible causes of generalized slow performance that you can rule out easily.
If you have many image or video files on the Desktop with preview icons, move them to another folder.
If applicable, uncheck all boxes in the iCloud preference pane.
Disconnect all non-essential wired peripherals and remove aftermarket expansion cards, if any.
Otherwise, take the steps below when you notice the slowdown.
Step 1
Launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the icon grid.
Select the CPU tab of the Activity Monitor window.
Select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected.
Click the heading of the % CPU column in the process table to sort the entries by CPU usage. You may have to click it twice to get the highest value at the top. What is it, and what is the process? Also post the values for % User, % System, and % Idle at the bottom of the window.
Select the System Memory tab. What values are shown in the bottom part of the window for Page outs and Swap used?
Next, select the Disk Activity tab. Post the approximate values shown for Reads in/sec and Writes out/sec (not Reads in and Writes out.)
Step 2
If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
Launch the Console application in the same way you launched Activity Monitor. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select

IPad very slow

I have an original iPad (3G+ Wifi - 64 gigs) and recently it has been responding extremely slow to simple tasks such as going into and out of email or safari or the photo app, pretty much any command is slow. There is a 3 second delay for example when I am in the Facebook app and then hit the home button.
What can I do to fix this?

David, a couple of questions:
Do you routinely fully close apps? I rarely leave apps up when I'm not using them and I always fully close them down before I shut down for the night. To fully close your apps, from your home screen, double tap your home button. This will bring up the most recently used apps (task bar). Hold you finger on any of those apps until they all start to jiggle. You'll see a on the upper left corner of each app. Touch the sign and the app will fully close.
Secondly, how much memory is left on your iPad. I don't what version you have, but they don't have unlimited memory. For example, if you have a 16gb iPad, you could be running out of space. To see how much space you have go to Settings > General > About and look at Available. If you have very little space left, it could be one of the reasons your iPad is running slow. If this is the case, you might need to unsync some music, pictures, books, etc.
Let me know what you find out.

I Updated to iOS 8 last week, no issues prior re speed etc, now it's slow, boring and very frustrating. search engines/ facebook etc take forever to load. Any ideas how to fix this, can I revert back to iOS 7?? I'm using ipad 4th gen.

TS1424 very slow downloads apple tv

My internet connection is fine and download speed is fast. Until now I have had no problems immediately downloading rented and purchased movies from the Itunes Store. Now I can't play either, it just shows hours and days to download and it never downloads.I recently rented a movie from Itunes store several days ago and when I go to watch the movie using my apple tv it always shows some rediculouse amount of download time still needed. I have downloaded the most recent update to my apple tv as well and it took forever to download but finally did and I installed it.

I have an 80 Mbps internet download connection and it took 5 hours to download a movie with standard definition from itunes with my apple tv. It took 3 minutes when I used netflix on my ps3. Where is apple supports response to these issues....there are thousands of posts of people with the same problems? Speedtest.net confirms my download speed is 80 Mbps! I have reset and restarted my apple tv and download speeds of movies are still unacceptably slow! What is the point of these discussions when Apple techs don't even read or respond to our posts?

When attemtping to view movie previews, it take for ever, sometime more than 30 minutes. This should not be. I tried turning on and off the router with some luck, but after one day, the same old issue. I have 25/50 Verizon FIOS internet connection and all software is the most current. Im starting to think the problem is with apple servers. Any help is appreciated.

Have you verified your speed (via speedtest.net) ?
Have you checked for interference (using istumbler or netstumbler) ?
Have you made sure to use your ISPs DNS (settings - network - configure DNS - should be set to automatic)

It is hardly Apple's fault that Epson can't/won't update their driver, but at least Epson suggest that you use the Gutenprint driver, which in any case is far better that what Epson offer.

The latest issue of Pages for iPad: 1. Very slow. 2. Late in reacting to typing. 3. When I go to a specific file, informs me that some images were deleted and therefore file has been changed. Then when OPEN option used, opens file slowly. Please, help!

What I have to do to correct the following problems with Pages app. For iPad:
Hesitates to display results of typing, some times for 5-6 characters;
Very slow in opening files;
Before opening of a specific file displays message: DOCUMENT DETAILS. SOME CHANGES WERE MADE TO YOUR DOCUMENT. SOME IMAGES ARE MISSING BECAUSE THEY WERE DELETED FROM YOUR DOCUMENT. I see you said You paid for shipping, did you Insure it? Claim insurance on it. If you did not, It may not be Verizon or your fault in the sense of the phone not making it to the warehouse. There are people out in the postal world that will steal phones that are not insured. It could have been a Verizon employee, i suppose.
But, if this was to be a bought in court, if you shipped it with out insurance, sadly your at fault.
Do you still have the Serial number of your old phone? If so, you should be able to track where your phone is (if it is reported as a defect/damaged) If so, you may be able to use that as proof. If it does not show up as a defect or what ever they determine use as a loss, then you know it did not make it to the warehouse to be checked in. I would suspect Apple or Verizon could tell you what the Serial number came up as.

Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Check your settings. The iPads have a small switch on the right edge. It can be used as a rotation lock to keep the screen from automatically reorienting itself as you move around, but you need to have the tablet’s settings configured properly. That same switch, right above the volume buttons, can also be set to function instead as a mute button to silence certain types of audio.
If the switch is set to work as a mute button, you can change its purpose to “screen-rotation lock” by tapping the Settings icon on the home screen. Music, podcasts and video are not muted unless you turn the volume all the way down.

FCP, and all software on OSX, has a few different "preference" files (the extension is .plist), which store all your user settings. Each time you resize a window, change a setting, anything, this file is re-written. Kinda easy to see how they would become corrupt every now and then.
-Close FCP
-Navigate to User>Library>Preferences and delete com.apple.FinalCutPro.plist
-Navigate to User>Library>Preferences>Final Cut Pro User Data and delete Final Cut Pro 5.0 Prefs
-Empty your trash
Relaunch FCP and see if that worked.
Download FCP Rescue to make this process easier in the future. When you have FCP running really smooth, open FCP Rescue and create a backup of your preference files. If it starts acting wanky, just run FCP Rescue and Restore your backup preferences. Works really slick, and it's free.
