IPad volume button broken, can't turn volume up

My iPad fell on the floor (tiles) and it got lightly bashed in where the volume roller bar and volume lock button is on the side of the iPad. The volume icon is now constantly displayed on the screen and I can't turn it up (it is not on mute). Does anyone know how I can turn the volume up without the volume roller button? Thanks!

Hey Bailey,
You have a couple options:
1) Use the volume slider in the software (ie, music app, youtube app etc), however if the button is jammed broken in the up position that may not work
2) Apple will swap your iPad out with a refurbished starting at $249 and up
3) The final and most economical is to have it repaired. I have use the company below for an out of warranty iPhone repair and they did a great job. A quick search shows they can repair the volume for about $80.

Good luck!

    Try reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
Note: Data will not be affected.

  • Sleep and volume buttons broken, but there's another problem.

The sleep and volume buttons on my Ipod touch stopped working recently, and on top of that, my speaker randomly cuts out.
If I squeese the top and bottom of my Ipod hard enough, I can get the sleep button to work for about 3 seconds.
The volume buttons have not responded to anything.
My speaker started cutting out on the first day I got it, but I thought it was because I had set it up wrong. Squeesing the corner where the speaker is located will make it work again, but only for a short amount of time.
I plan on taking my Ipod to an Apple store to have it serviced, but there is one problem.
I accidently cracked my Ipod's screen. The buttons stopped working MONTHS after it happened, and the speaker was already broken.
My Ipod is still under Apple's 1 year warenty, so would they fix the buttons for free under the warenty even if the screen was cracked?
I don't care about the screen getting fixed, I just want the buttons to work again.

I know the screen will not be covered, and I don't need it to be fixed.
What I want to know is will they fix the buttons?
I don't think the buttons would have broken because of the screen because the buttons broke 4 months after the screen broke.
And the speaker was broken right out of the box.

  • 620 volume button broken

My 620 volume buttons started acting up and now the volume down button fell out.  Is this a common problem and can it be fixed.  Is there an app that will adjust the volume without having to use the buttons?  any help would be appreciated

No, it's not a common problem. There is no app which can replace the button, so I'm afraid you need to have it repaired at Nokia care.

  • My volume doesnt work and when i press the volume button it shows the headphones volume on the screen without any headphones being plugged in. what can i do to fix this?

My volume on my iPad doesnt work, when I press the voulme button it shows the headphones volume on the screen without any headphones being plugged in. Is there a fix for this?

Try going to settings> general > reset> reset all settings. If that doesn't work. Place a headphone jack in there and just pull it out a couple times. The problem is either your iPad setting is stuck or there is actually a hardware problem and moving the jack in and out might fix it

    Hi Denla,
Unfortunately, the volume buttons are the only way to control the volume of the phone. May we know what happen to the volume keys?

  • IPhone 4 lock button broken, won't turn on

iPhone 4 lock button broken, used assistive touch for the last several months. Today iPhone turned off in my pocket and is unresponsive to even plugging it into charger. Is there any way to get it to restart?

There is nothing you can do as you won't be able to reset the device.
You can wait until the battery goes flat then try connecting it to power so it restarts. If the same issue occours then you'll need to restore it on iTunes by entering recovery mode.

  • Volume button held to increase the volume

I have a problema that seems that increase volume button is held.
If i platina a game or If i' m watching a video sundelly start to increase the volume itself.
If I decrease the volume it start to increase again itself.
I Don't know If it's a bug or a hardware problema in the button.

If the sound does not increase when adjusting the Volume button on the portable player and the volume seems to stay at one level, this may be due to an incorrect setting. Try doing the following steps to resolve this issue:
IMPORTANT: If model-specific information is needed to complete these steps, refer to the instructions supplied with the product.Manuals are available online through the Manuals/Specs/Warranty link on this page.
Some of the Sony® portable audio players are designed to limit the volume level with the Automatic Volume Limiter System (AVLS). The AVLS function is preset to ON. Although it is recommended to leave the AVLS setting on to protect the hearing of the listener, maximum volume cannot be achieved until the AVLS feature is turned off.
NOTE: The procedure to turn the AVLS feature off varies by model. Some units have an AVLS switch, where other units offer the AVLS setting in the menu of the portable player. Consult the instruction manual of your portable player for specific information.
If you are using external passive speakers, the power and volume for the speakers is drawn from the connected unit. Adjust the volume setting on your portable player in order to increase the level of sound coming through the speakers.
If your device is capable of Bluetooth® wireless connection and you are listening to sound via Bluetooth connection, turn up the volume on the audio device.

  • IPad mini volume stays on volume 2 and can't do volume down and up!  Help?

I don't know but I think it's jammed. I can only use the mute.

If your using iOS 7 as your profile suggests, you can also use Control Center to adjust volume. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to display the volume slider.
Also, in the event this is a software glitch, you can try resetting your iPad by simultaneously pressing and holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple Logo. This can take up to 15 seconds so be patient and don't release the buttons until the logo appears. Try again to see if the problem persists.

  • Can't turn volume down

The volume on my IPOD classic doesn't turn down far enough.  I think this is a new problem.  Does anyone have a solution other than buying a separate volume attenuator?

Using the original ipod earbuds yields the same result.  There is a floor on the volumn that prevents turning the volumn down beyond a certain point.  As to your point on other earphones, it's really irrelevant.  If I turn the volume all the way down, the output to the earphones should go all the way to 0, so if my earphones had a built in amplifier (which they don't), it would be amplifying a 0 signal.
For the EU law, the volume should start at 0, and rise somewhat linearly to a maximum level, and plateau there.  In this case, as we turn the volume down, there is a point at which the output of the ipod does not get any softer.
So, back to the original question(s) - is there any way to actually turn the volume down to an arbitrary level?

  • I can't turn volume down on Apps

I Have turned my volume right down but it is still playing music on the apps. I have tryed but nothing works.
    Please Help

Does this volume adjustment problem also exist when you listen to the shuffle elsewhere than the gym? IF SO, take the shuffle to an Apple Store to be analysed and, possibly, replaced.
IF the problem doesn't show up under normal conditions (eg out side of gym), then you might have a moisture problem...

  • My volume button says im changing my volume but i dont have any volume still for my macbook pro

idk why but anything to do with volume is not working and was wondering if anyone new how to fix it?

    No sound from internal speakers?
    1. System Preference > Sound > Output > Internal Speakers
Make sure Mute is not enabled.
    2. If you see red light in the headphone port, plug the headphone
in and out of the port 5 or 6 to flip the microswitch inside.
Sound output may be stuck in the digital mode.
    3. Reset PRAM.  http://support.apple.com/kb/PH4405
    4  Reset SMC.     http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
        Choose the method for:
