IPad vs Syncing Mail

I have been in computers a very long time (before Lisa time) and the transitions to today have been sometimes troublesome. I like the iPad but it also has been troublesome. The remaining problems for me is syncing mail and eBook readers. eBook is another time thing.
I wish to use Apple's Mail. Using iTune (9.1) and attempting to sync mail does not work. It, Sync Mail, simply is not selectable. Going to MobilMe doesn't seem to work either. The manual says iTune syncing mail, etc., will work but does not instruct what or how to do it if syncing mail does not function.
I have tried to set up a mail account on the iPad using my ISP mail account but that does not work either. The ISP does not recognize the input. There does not seem to be a location to insert my ISP IP addresses.
One other person seems to have an identical problem.
I realize this is a bit early but can anyone help?
Bud

Email will not be synced via the iTunes sync process. There is a selection under the Info tab for your iPad sync preferences for email accounts- this transfers email account settings only from your Mac to your iPad.
With a POP account, email is not synced. New messages received at the incoming mail server are downloaded by the email client used to access the account.
With an IMAP account, all server stored mailboxes are kept synchronized with the server automatically with email client used to access the account. A MobileMe account is accessed as an IMAP account along with including the ability to sync contacts and calendar events over the air on your iPad. Contacts and calendar events in the Address Book and iCal on your Mac are kept synchronized between your MobileMe online address book and calendar and with your iPad without having to sync your iPad with iTunes. All server stored mailboxes with the Mail.app on your Mac will be available automatically when accessing the account with the iPad's Mail application along with all server stored mailboxes kept synchronized with the server automatically with the Mail.app on your Mac and with the iPad's Mail application.
None of this is possible with a POP account.

  • Ipad 2 Sync/Mail

When I synced my iPad 2 with my mac, my email account was added and now I have over 7000 emails. Why did this happen when I only have about 100 in my inbox?  How can I fix this?

Email messages should not sync from your computer - only the email account settings sync to the device.
Try restarting your iPad and see what happens. If that doesn't do anything - try a reset.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • I cannot send an email from my iPad 2? No problem receiving, why does this happen? Have tried the suggestions for setting up email and after doing the sync mail through iTunes receiving worked great but still cannot send? Any help would be great

I cannot send an email from my iPad 2? No problem receiving, why does this happen? Have tried the suggestions for setting up email and after doing the sync mail through iTunes receiving worked great but still cannot send? Any help would be great!

The fact that you can receive means you have a valid e mail address, and have established the connection to the incoming server, so all of that works.  Since the send does not work, that means your outgoing server is rejecting whatever settings you used formthe outgoing set up.  Try them again.
Google your particular isp, and ipad and many times you will find the exact settings needed for your isp.  Or tell us here, and soneone else may be on the same isp.  Some mail services need you to change a port, or have a unique name for the outgoing server.
    Kep trying.

  • How do I sync mail SENT from other devices onto my iPad?

I am on ipad mini, iOS 6.0.2 and using yahoo business mail with IMAP settings. In my Sent box I can only see mail sent through the ipad but not mail sent through other devices. On my Android I can sync Sent mail just like I can sync my in box. Can someone please tell me how to do this? In mail, contacts, calendar, advancedssetting my sent box is set to server. Thanks

Is your email account an IMAP account? If not, the folders will not sync.
If your email account is a POP account, you can create folders and mailboxes in the Mac mail app and those folders will be for local storage and organization on the Mac only. That is a feature of the Mac mail software. Those folders/mailboxes will not sync if you do not have an IMAP account.

  • Sync Mail and iCal iPad with MacBook?

I have a 2 year old MacBook (sys 10.6.8) and am considering buying a new iPad Mini. I shall want to sync iCal and Mail. Can I do this please?
I don't want to sync iTunes.
Also, if my MacBook is connected to my printer, will I be able to print using wi fi? i.e: print from the iPad through the MacBook sharing the printer?

First of all, you can only sync mail if you have an IMAP email account. You cannot sync email messages from the Mac to the iPad. That action only takes place if your email is an IMAP account so it has nothing to do with the Mac or syncing with iTunes.
You can sync your calendar with iTunes without having to sync anything else if you don't want to sync anything else from iTunes. ITunes is a software on the computer and the conduit through which syncing takes place, when you say you don't want to sync iTunes, I assume that you are talking about Music.
You can download an app called Printopia for the Mac that allows you to use your Mac as the print server and you should be able to use your current WiFi printer.
There are other ways to print using other apps from the App Store, as well.

When my icloud account is attached to my device I go to mail, contacts, calendars, and there is absolutely no way to remove my mail account. When I deleted my icloud account it suddenly gave me a way to delete and readd my mail account, and synching became feasible again. Synching wasn't possible for me, when I had an icloud account. I suppose the icloud idea still isn't feasible, at least Ican't figure out how to use it.

  • How do I sync mail from my iphone to my ipad

How do I sync mail between my iphone and ipad?

Changing from POP3 to IMAP is a function of your email provider. You need to check with them to see if they even offer IMAP. Some do and some do not. If they do not your choices are to 1) configure email on the PC/iPad to keep Mail on the mail server or 2) change email providers to something like Gmail or Outlook.com (as examples).
This may help if you do not want to or can not switch to IMAP...

  • IPad will not sync mail with iTunes

    Good evening,
My first generation iPad (16GB iOS 5.0.1) has stopped syncing correctly with my MacBook Air. If I plug my iPad in, iTunes will load, recognise the iPad and begin to sync. However, It always hangs indefinitely when it begins to sync mail. I have only one mail account setup on my MacBook (pop). I have performed a hard reset on the iPad which has made no difference and I am at a loss as to what I should try on the MacBook side of things. I should add that if I uncheck the 'mail accounts' option in the sync settings tab in iTunes, my iPad will sync brilliantly. Also, if I delete the mail account from my iPad, it makes no difference. It is the same whether trying to sync via wi-fi or cable.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thank you,
    -Tom

Scrap that, it seems to have self remedied

  • IPhone/iPad, sync mail

Could anyone tell me, where the sync mail goes, how I can find them and how I can stop the mail from syncing.. Thanks a lot.

since you had so many emails moved, more than likely your phone/ipad had them stored in the history and hard a difficult time moving so many emails when you refreshed correctly.

  • Sync Mail Account Settings

    Hi All,
    I have two machines:
    MacPro OS 10.7.2
    MacBookPro OS 10.7.2
I am using iCloud to sync info between them.
Me.com used to allow you to syncronize mail account settings, and iCloud does not, so I have two questions:
    1. Is there anyway to sync mail account settings between two computers?
    2. If not, can you export a file that contains the settings from one computer to import it into another?
    Thanks for you time!
    Rob

    Hi Illaas,
    Thanks for your response.
You don't mention whether you are looking in iTunes or Finder. However, it does not really matter: either way I do not see emails as a sync option.
Under Finder, my iPad is not showing as a separate device.
Under iTunes under Devices, when I click on my iPad, I see lots of tabs (Summary, Info, Apps, Movies, Music, TV Shows, Podcasts, iTunesU, Books and Photos) but no Mail.
I ended up creating each Mail account individually, so this issue is not really resolved but I found a workaround.
    Thanks for your input.

  • My contacts and calenders on my IPAD not syncing with my IMAC

My contacts, mail and calenders on my IPAD are not syncing with my IMAC properly.  My IPhone seems to sync with IPAD okay.
Also, on my IPhone I have subfolders for a second email account, but on my IPAD and IMAC I can only access subfolders from one email account.
    Please help

For Mail in order to have subfolders the email account must be an IMAP account. Check on the iPad in Settings > Mail, Contacts and Calendars > the email account in question to make sure the correct account type is selected.
If your ad is not syncing your Contacts and Calendars to the other devices go to Settings and make sure iCloud is on and you're signed in to the same iCloud account as on your other devices. Then make sure that Contacts and Calendar syncing is turned on.
