Ipad w/apple tv in the classroom

I have my ipad connected to Apple TV which is connected to a projector via VGA converter. I need to also connect to some type of speakers to be able to use in my classroom. Anyone know what my best/cheapest options are?

Rentals are one-time only downloads, they will not show on other devices/computers for redownloading.
If you rent a film on your iPad or Apple TV then you can only watch it on that device. If you rent it on your Mac then you can move it from there to your iPhone or your Apple TV (if it's a first gen Apple TV) : FAQs about renting movies from the iTunes Store :
If you rented the movie on your computer, you can move it to an iOS device or Apple TV (1st generation). To do this, connect the devices and sync using USB. When you move a rented movie from your computer, it will disappear from your computer’s iTunes library. You can move the movie between devices as much as you want, but you can only have it on one device at a time.
If you rented the movie on your iOS device or Apple TV, you can’t move it to any other device.

I'm trying to prepare some new iPads using Apple Configurator and the download of IOS8 failed. The error in Apple Configurator is "Unable to download iOS 8.0. The firmware image was corrupted. Please retry the operation."

Is there a way to get the Apple Configurator to try to re-download iOS 8?

Apple Support had me delete the image file from the following location:
~/Library/Containers/com.apple.configurator/Data/Library/Caches/com.apple.confi gurator/firmware/
The file name was iPad3,4_8.0_12A365_Restore.ipsw
I deleted this file and ran the prepare again and it download the iOS 8 ok and successfully prepared the iPad.

Using iPad to view eBeam in the classroom

I work with Visually Impaired children and we were wondering if it is possible to use an iPad with eBeam software to just view what the teacher is displaying. We dont want the pupil able to affect the teachers display by touching their iPad - but may still require the iPads zoom facility to operate. Is this possible?

Broken screen on ipad and Apple Store in the centre of Sydney incredibly rude and unhelpful. Can someone advise what to do, not even a year old!

Bought ipad around 4 months ago and have been using the magnetic cover that also turns into a stand. Sadly it got knocked off the meeting table and has shattered the glass. This has been taken into the Apple store in central Sydney where they were incredibly unhelpful and told us, you have to make an appointment over the internet. Unless we are buying another computer they really don't care. Makes me feel quite ill, especially as we have so many apple products.
Can anyone advise how we get the screen fixed without it costing us the same as it would to buy a new one?

Accidentaly damage is, as you've found out, not covered under warranty. Apple does not repair iPads, but will replace the entire iPad for a flat fee (which is significantly less than the price of a new iPad, though not iconsiderable); see the Repair Pricing section here:

There are independent iPad repair services that may be able to to a repair for less. Do a web search for "ipad repair".

IMovie app keeps trying to update on my first gen iPad. Apple ID is the same on multiple devices. What's the fix?

If iMovie is incompatible with the iPad first gen, why does it keep asking me to update, then fail? It forces me to update all ther apps individually instead of allowing update all.

It just is.
iOS detects that there is an update, but the update is unable to be applied.
Your stuck in the loop of annoyance.
I'm in the same boat.
It's just the way it is.
There are fixes that do not involve jail breaking, but I cannot discuss them here.
I suggest you google around for a fix.

Connect the iPad and Apple TV to the same WiFi network. Double Tab the home button on the iPad and then swipe your recently used apps from left to right until you see the mirroring icon which looks like a retangle with an up arrow. Websites and third party Apps need enabling before they will allow Basic AirPlay of Video content. Some Website/App developers have not enabled their products, some simply haven't got around to it yet, others have stated that they won't be enabling AirPlay (likely as a result of licensing issues).
Mirroring doesn't need enabling and will work by default, however some developers have chosen to block AirPlay mirroring working with their apps.

Not all movies can be re-downloaded, only a handful of the movie studios agreed to license their movies for re-downloading with Apple.

Why retouch adjustments made in Aperture do not sync with iPad or Apple TV?

In Aperture 3 I have several photos where I have made some simple Retouch adjustments using the specific tool in the Adjustments pane. While the adjustment are visible on the computer screen, once I view the same photo on the iPad or Apple TV the Retouch adjustments are not visible. On the same photos I then added other adjustments, like Clone, Exposure, Definition, Saturation, etc. All adjustments show on the same picture viewed on the iPad and Apple TV, except the retouch adjustments. The iPad is synced normally with the cable, and Apple TV it's synced over wi-fi. Does anyone know why?

What accessories are needed to connect my Apple TV to my LCD projector (VGA connectors) in the classroom so that I can mirror my iPad for around the class teaching?

I have been wanting to project my iPad to my class and the only way I have found is to use the connector. However, I would like to remove myself from in front of the classroom and move around the classroom. This encourages students to take notes and not pass notes. This also encourages them to engage in questioning of the lesson, because the teacher is not far removed from them if they're in the back of the classroom. How can I connect? I've read some forums that discuss converters and many who say it needs to be active or powered, but some of these powered converters are nearly two times the amount of the Apple TV. I wouldn't mind paying if this is the suggested way and it works. I don't want to go through several failed and expensive experiments.

There are hardware converters that will convert HDMI to various other types of output, however there are some issues with doing so that you should be aware of.
HDCP
HDCP compliant converters will not allow you to watch HDCP protected content such as that from the iTunes Store. Non compliant converters exist but we cannot discuss them under the Terms of Use for these communities.
Resolution and aspect ratio
I'm not aware of any converters that will scale the output from the Apple TV, any TV or projector which is used will need to be widescreen and support resolutions of 720p (if you are using the Apple TV 2)
