IPad warranty coverage

I went to few apple reseller to ask about the new iPad gen 4th's warranty service coverage.  They all told me that it is worldwide warranty.  Is that right?

  • Confirmation of AT&T iphone refurb warranty coverage vs. new iphone

I spoke with an AT&T agent today and she provided the following information with regard to warranty info when choosing a refurb or a new iphone 4S.
Jemalyn D.: Thank you for the information.
Jemalyn D.: Sure, not a problem on that one.
Jemalyn D.: To clarify, you would like to know the warranty of purchasing a refurbished iPhone 4S device with AT&T. Is that correct?
    Me: yes
Jemalyn D.: Refurbished devices come with a 90 day manufacturer's warranty, while new devices come with a 1 year manufacturer's warranty.  Our standard 30-day return policy applies on both new and refurbished models.  You also have the availability to extend the warranty by adding the AppleCare Protection Plan or adding the Mobile Protect iPhone insurance to your equipment.
Me: where do i buy the mobile protect insurance
Jemalyn D.: On the other hand, please be informed that there is no information on when is the exact date where the phone was originally purchase but the return and exchange policy of AT&T will only require 30 days, so therefore, the device only have 30 days or less than 30 days owned by the previous holder.
Jemalyn D.: AT&T offers the AppleCare Protection Plan for iPhones to all customers purchasing a new or refurbished iPhone.  This additional Plan is a one time fee of $69 and will extend the warranty for an additional year. The Protection Plan extends the included hardware repair service coverage to two years from the warranty start date.  The  AppleCare Protection Plan can only be purchased on new iPhone devices or during the sale of a refurbished iPhone device in Premier.  To add this plan to your order, simply scroll down to the bottom of the Accessories page and change the quantity next to the AppleCare Protection Plan to 1 and click Add to Cart.
Me: so essentially i could purchase the refurb and add the extra care for 69 for a total of 90 days + 1 year of protection from the date of purchase?
Jemalyn D.: Yes, that is correct.
Me: ultimately would i get the longest amount of coverage buying a new phone?
Jemalyn D.: Please be informed that you also have 30 days to add this "insurance" feature on your iPhone device.
Me: okay that is good to know
Jemalyn D.: Yes, you are correct. Purchasing a new phone will definitely get the longest amount of warranty coverage.

Where did you get the phone?
That phone was replaced by Apple or an AASP and was not returned to Apple as it should have been, or it was stolen from Apple or somewhere in the supply chain.
You can not get support from Apple for that phone.
Return it to wherever you got it and get your money back.

  • IPhone 6 (plus) Problem Display Edges Chipping (breaking away) or broken from factory (underside) No warranty coverage by Apple!

ACHTUNG! iPhone 6 (plus) Problem: Chipped (broken) edges of display glass. Owner Beware! Apple denied warranty coverage.
    Can this be true?
Recently I found a little trace on the edge of my iPhone 6. Very small, at the bottom edge of the display glass.
You could hardly make it out, but visible enough to catch the eye.
Since my iPhone 6 has never dropped or bumped in any way, I addressed this issue to AppleCare support, and sent them the device.
The upshot: Diagnostics of the technician’s: broken glass! Warranty coverage: DENIED!
This damage comes from improper usage or is an accidental damage.
The AppleCare adviser also confirmed that this device also is not qualified for any further warranty claim, because of the broken display.  (See Appels warranty conditions).
Apple returned my phone unrepaired. The sim tray was missing, and a note in the return package said, that warranty repair was denied and that I can buy a new device at apple store.
For me it is OBVIOUSLY a PRODUCTION ERROR by the manufacturer, and has to be fixed for free within the warranty.
I made pictures of this problem so you can see what I mean.
I can only recommend to anyone urgently, to carry a 10x loupe (preferably illuminated) to the store, if you are going to buy an iphone 6 or 6 plus.
Otherwise, if you catch a device with chipped edges on the glass you are out of warranty.
Please notice that the complete bottom edge has marks of broken and chipped glass!
I think the whole construction with the round edges is the problem. The glass is simply too thin at the edges.
It could be more iPhones suffering the same problem.
Btw: The glass surface on top is perfectly intact. The broken pieces are on the bottom!
You can feel nothing if you do not take the display apart.
However, I set up a mail with my lawyer and am waiting how Apple will respond.
They are of course also invited to discuss on community portals worldwide about this.
Please let me know what you think and if someone had success with the same problem.

Hi. I have the same problem. Unpacked a new iPhone6 and the phone had a small chip under the glass on the edge. Local store says that this is not covered as it would have been incorrect use. Pretty strange as it came out of the box like this and the metal edge of the phone is perfect (which shows that it was not dropped), just the glass is chipped (looks as if the chip is inside of the glass). To me it looks like a production issue as the glass is curved and gets thinner towards the edges. Would be interested if more people have the same issue in order to put a claim forward to Apple.....

  • Are iPhone 5's speakers under warranty coverage ?

My iPhone 5's speakers cracked and the quality of the sound now is awful . I purchased it 4 months ago , therefore it's still under warranty . I'm pretty sure it isn't my audio quality problems because they're originals from the physical albums and they sounded fine all these while until the speakers problem occured . I'm just wondering if the speakers are under hardware warranty coverage and should i go back to the mobile carrier centre to get it fixed ?

everything in the box is always under the same warrenty it's not an apple thing it's a warrenty law thing

  • Ipad Warranty, no receipt.

I bought my iPad almost a year ago (On my birthday, yay me  ). it hasn't even been a year since I got the warranty. It's short circuiting on me and won't turn on even after I tried reseting it. I don't know what's wrong with it. I haven't dropped it. I am a college student and desperately need my iPad. I don't think my email is linked to my account at best buy nor do I think I even have a best buy account. Can anyone give me tips on how I can veryify if i still have my warranty?
P.S I used my Debit Card to buy it and I found the statement.

    Hi mennioo,
If you made your purchase with a debit card, we should be able to bring up a copy of your receipt easily enough. I would encourage you to just bring your iPad into your local store; our customer service team can print out a new copy and verify your coverage in person. If it's been less than a year since you made your purchase, you should still be covered.
Alternatively, feel free to send me a private message with your home phone number and I'll try to see if I can dig up your receipt with just your contact information first. You can send me a private message by logging into the forums and clicking on the envelope in my signature below.

  • Does Apple iPad warranty cover cosmetic damages?

I have the iPad smart cover on my iPad 3 and after some time I've noticed a few scratches on the side of my iPad. Only a cosmetic thing, but wondering if apple one year warranty covers cosmetic damages. It was their faulty cover and error in creating a protective cover. So, again, will the warranty over it?

I'd take it into an Apple Store and ask, but I doubt the one-year warranty will cover minor stuff like cosmetic damages. I imagine it only covers problems like the iPad just suddenly dying on you for no reason. It might depend just how bad the damages are, too.
HOWEVER, if you really really don't like the cosmetic damages you can get AppleCare (I think it's around $99 for iPads) and they'll replace it for you rather than having to pony up $500+ for another iPad.

  • IPad Warranty (Or lack of)

I am somewhat puzzled. I went to the Apple Technical Support Center here in Singapore to have my iPad checked (This is my second iPad) for Compass problems. They confirmed I had a problem and also uncovered another problem which I don't remember and does not seem to affect my work, obviously. They informed me that iPads don't get repaired but rather get replaced. Then they noticed a slight dent on the casing (Which I had not noticed before) and told me that although my issues were absolutely unrelated to the dent, they could not solve my problem
So basically, my iPad is NOT covered under warranty because of this dent, even if I just want to get my problem repaired. I don't care about a new case.
I must say, I've been a loyal Apple customer for 34 years! And although I love Apple products, I am ****** at this policy!

Because this is a User Forum, this communication is aimed at keeping the Users properly informed. And as explained previously, Apple Techs confirmed that my iPad problem is absolutely not related to this dent (Could almost be called a scratch - very small), and that IT IS a material defect. But because it's a "replace" policy only, my "unrelated" problem cannot be addressed. In other words, cannot be repaired, even though they admitted it was a material flaw. So I will live with that decision.
I know some users would want to know this before buying. This is what I grasp.

  • Ipad warranty and aftercare

Dear moderators- please note that this is a genuine question, it is not a non-constructive rant or complaint, it is not off topic.
A 15 year old member of my party purchased an ipad2 in LA last month. She was told that as she lived in the UK she would need to purchase the Applecare premium. Later I returned to the store with her to question the necessity of the extra purchase. I was told that in the event of hardware failures she would be able to return the ipad to a UK Apple store for a free repair (within the initial 12 month period).  Armed with this knowledge she asked for (and received) a refund.
Given that the initial advice was incorrect, I am not 100% confident that the latter is correct. Can anyone clarify the situation?
Additionally after the 12month period does the Applecare only cover hardware failure? Surely the likelihood of hardware failures in this period is miniscule.
    Thanks in advance.
BTW MODS if I have posted in the wrong place then please move rather than delete my post, tnx

    sorry guys...
I guess I phrased the first part of my question badly.
She was told that she HAD to take the AppleCare if she wanted any cover outside of the USA, ie she was led to believe that 12 month warranty was limited to the USA only, and that only by buying AppleCare she would end up with cover in the UK (with the added benefit of an extra 12 months plus phone support).
Later when I pushed the salesman on the subject he then said that the standard 12 month warranty would be honoured in the UK.
I assume that statement 1 is false, what about statement 2?
