IPad WEP password required after power off.

Hi,
On my ipad mini I am required to re-enter my WEP password after power off.
Why is this and how do I prevent it from happening?
This does not occur on my mbp or iphone 4s.
Thanks,
Rob.

Although it should work flawlessly, for some reason mobile devices don't always play nice with WEP.  You're far better off  with WPA2 (security-wise)  anyway.  If you have the ability to change your network's security, it might be easier to just get away from WEP than to try to make your mini work with it.

  • Reconfig required after power off

A week ago I changed my previous router by a new WRT54G. Old problems are gone, but unfortunately I got a new problem:
Each time the router is restarted (power off), I'm no longer able to connectwireless (Authorization, using WPA2 personal).
It needs always a wired connection first, then connect to the router setup:
Wireless - Wireless Security - Save Settings (without change). It looks like some settings are not saved correctly!!
    Any help is highly appreciated.

Return the router. The new WRT54G hardware versions (v5, v6, v7, v8) are known for their various issues they have. Replace it with a WRT54GL which is the old hardware platform they have used for the first versions which work far more reliable.

this morning my PB G4 would not get to the password screen after power on.  I have rebooted many times and very loud noises (like a HD spinning/rubbing) emits. Tried the Install disk and it cannot find the hard drive. Ran HW test and got a "Mass storage Error Code" message.
Did my HD just crash and unrecoverable?  Time to replace my notebook?

I believe your hard drive has failed. Hope you have a backup.

  • IPad 3rd gen crash and power off issue

I have ipad 3rd gen iOS 7.1.  In the past few hours when using internet(safari or chrome), Netflix, and games some weird things happen.
    1.  Screen goes black for a few second then returns to lock screen. And/or
    2.  'Slide to power off' appears at top of screen along with an X to cancel at bottom of screen and/or
    3.  Continually get pop up to login to itunes.
All of these things have occurred independently of one another and sometimes they all occur within a matter of seconds.
I have tried:  rebooting, logging in to itunes when it think I am not logged in, uninstalling and reinstalling apps, resetting itunes password, and now reading forums.
Suggestions? Feedback? Solutions?  Anything would be a great help right now.  Thanks!

You rebooted - by which you mean powered off, then powered on?
    Then try a reset:
Hold both the Home button and the Power button down for about 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears.
Let go promptly when it appears.
Wait 30 seconds or so for your iPad to restart.
No information or settings will be lost.

  • [Solved] Random Freezes Requiring Manual Power off

Since I built this system, I've been getting random freezes that force me to have to manually power off and back on the entire system.  I have no idea what's causing it and I've tried everything under the sun that I can think of to resolve it to no avail.  I posted about this a while back in another forum, but I'm hoping I'll have better luck here.
    Symptoms:
Entire system will completely freeze.  No input is recognized, keyboard controls do not function (numlock, caps lock, etc.), cannot switch to another TTY, nothing.  There appears to be no rhyme or reason to when the freezes occur.  Sometimes the machine will be sitting idle and freeze in the middle of the night and I'll come in in the morning and find it frozen, other times I'll be in the middle of using it and it will freeze (as just happened).  Every time I have to hold down the power button to shut off, then turn it back on.
    What I've tried so far:
    Swapping out all the RAM
Completely wiping the entire system and re-installing from the ground up (twice now I've done this)
Unplugging various USB devices and seeing if leaving those unplugged helps (it does not).
I'm at my wits end.  This has been going on for months and I have no idea what to do at this point. This is the most stumped I've ever been.
The thing that drives me the most nuts is that I have an almost *identical* system at home (the one that's freezing is my work computer).  Same CPU, same motherboard, same SSD partitions and layout, virtually the exact same software installed as well.  The only differences are a different GPU, different band of RAM, different brand of SSD, and a different case.  The specs from my home computer are in my signature and I can provide exact hardware info on the work system if anyone thinks it'll help.
I'm willing to provide whatever information anyone can suggest to help troubleshoot the issue.  I've got a bunch of log output from journalctl from various times it's crashed, but I haven't been able to make sense of it with regards to finding patterns or useful troubleshooting information.  Below is the most recent log from a few minutes before and after the crash.  You'll see the reboot at 17:51:40
    (sudo journalctl --since 17:45:00)

My thinking is that Plasma is not "playing" nicely with nvidia, I have two systems in my pc, one with kde4 and the other one (my testing system) with plasma, kde4 runs as it should, no lags, no freezes, no redrawing problems, fast and smooth. My plasma system is really not there, I tweak both systems the same, 20-nvidia.config on the xorg.d folder created by the nvidia settings, same where I also tweak all settings to juice my video card to its fullest (a really weak one by the way, a fanless gt430) and the triple buffering enabled for kde. I do have freezes with Plasma that lock the whole system, no keyboard input, and its been more or less the same since its release (for me that is), I am keep waiting to see if the "next" release would do, 5.3 still not yet. I also notice that compositing effects makes things worst, for example, snapping a window to a corner or to maximize when wobbly effect is on is a sure shot for a freeze for my system, I just update today the linux kernel and the nvidia driver, would see if that helps a little. My advice, for a stable system stick to kde4 still.
Edit: Note, I have a good old amd phenom 6 cores and I always run it with some over-clocking, never have issues with that on my previous install or my main system.

    Rensk,
    Solved!

i used to have the same problem in my SFE2000 until I have learned that you need to do the following steps to permanently save your settings

    click on Copy Configuration button
set Source File Name as Running Config
set Destination File Name as Startup Config
    click Apply

  • Bad vi after power off

sometimes LV can't open VI if system crushed (power off) when this VI is opened by LV
this trouble appear not every time.
I had experimented with this trouble and not found any rule (about dozen attempts and no problem with vi)
But yesterday I was on customer object and system crushed (power off) twice. After second crush I had found that can't open main VI (attached).
This error was in LV6 (my first version), in LV7 fnd now in LV8 (8.3)
I'm not sure, but may by bad file is smaller than correct file (from backup).
Why this happen and how can I avoid this error?

    Hi Artem,
I would not call it a LV-error when you switch-off (or crash) your pc while working... How should LV prevent from crashing?
There is no other answer than 'save early and often'! And starting from LV8 there is an auto-save option similar to MS Office (save every x mins)!

  • Lumia 625 wont start after power off!

I bought a lumia 625  5 months ago and it worked fine. but recently when i switch off power it wont turn back on. So i had do keep it in air plane mode at night.   After like one hour it switches on back. I tried resetting and restarting. Phone only vibrates after i release power key ( in all resetting methods), but does not show anything in the display. How can i fix this. help would be appreciated

I'm going to suggest a hard reset of the phone.  Do a backup first, then either go to Settings/About and select Reset my Phone, or for the 625:
Warning! All data will be lost!
    1.Power off your phone
2.Press power button and after phone vibrates once press volume down until you will see exclamation sign on the screen
    3.Press in this order:volume up
                                   volume down
                                   power
                                   volume down
4.Wait until format ends and the phone restarts
I'm thinking that something with the sleep mode has gotten corrupted in memory.  If this doesn't clear the problem, then you likely have a hardware/firmware fault and the phone should be taken in for repair or replacement.

  • Cannot establish wireless connection with WRT54G after power-off

My WRT54G (firmware v7.00.0) is connected to cable TV modem and
usually the wireless connection works fine, but after swiching off and later
on the power to WRT54G a laptop cannot establish WiFi connection to internet.
I can see in Odyssey software (for wireless communication) that my laptop
found the right network (SSID) but in status it says 'waiting for keys'.
I use WPA2 (TKIP). The laptop does not connect to internet.
When I connect it by cable (ethernet) the internet works fine, I have noticed
that by accessing the web-page utility of the router and simply clicking
save changes on wireless-settings page (without making any changes in
the settings) my laptop instantly establishes wireles connection and
everything works fine till next power swich-off.

Thanks for reply! I have my network in preffered, and the software/laptop locks on
the network (see it, says it have excellent signal strenght) and gives note
'waiting for keys' (the WPA2 encription key is in the settings - both of router and laptop client - Odyssey).
I've got firmware ver.7 so it is probably the latest.

  • E1000 won't reboot after power off

I have an E1000 installed. When I'm away for a while, I turn the power off to my modem and router to reduce electicity use. When I turn the power back on after returning, the E1000 will not reboot automatically. It will only reboot after I physically remove the power adapter cord from the E1000 body and reinsert it. Why doesn't it reboot automatically?

While turning on the devices, turn on the modem first. Wait for 1 minute and then turn on the router.
The router should reboot automatically when you turn it ON. However your router is not doing it automatically.

  • Resume music playlist after power off?

Just graduated from a 3G iPod to a 32gb 2nd gen iTouch. On my old iPod, I could listen to a playlist, power off in the middle, and the iPod would resume playback from that exact point.
This isn't happening with the iTouch.
Am I missing a setting? I've seen the threads about "resume playback" checkbox in iTunes, but that doesn's seem to work for related iTouch questions...

This is how the Zen operates, more or less. Under the current firmware, your place will be saved if you turned the Zen off for less than about an hour or two. This is because the Zen goes into a "sleep" mode. You can tell the Zen was in sleep mode if, when you turn it on, all you see is "Zen" and the player turns on in a second or two.
If the Zen has been off for more than an hour or two, it turns off completely. You can tell this because the screen shows "Creative", then "Zen", and takes about 5-7 seconds to boot up. In this case, the Zen will lose your place.
I agree that this is far from ideal, to say the least. I find myself having to navigate back to the right folder to get to the next track in my audio book all the time.
I understand that things were different with earlier firmwares, before they had the "sleep" mode. Hopefully they can fix this problem in a future firmware release.
