Ipad Wi-FI Connection Issue

I am a cancer patient at a local hospital. During my cancer treatments, I use both my Iphone4 and my Ipad. I am able to access the free hospital network with my Iphone4 but cannot access the free network with my my Ipad. Does anyone know why? Thank you.

Iphone4 sees the network, gets a log in page, then connects to the network.
Ipad sees the network, does NOT get a log in page, and does not connect.

All right.. this might be a two part problem.  I was attempting to enable restrictions, and after I entered the passcode twice and tapped "Enable restrictions," it asked me to enter a new passcode again.  Without doing much checking, I decided to resort to "Reset All Settings."  After doing this, I'm unable to connect to any WiFi networks.  I did this while at my in-laws house, and thought perhaps it was something flukey with their router.. however, after returning home, I ran into the same issue.
When I attempt to connect, I get "Incorrect password for "<my network>", and it says "Failed to join "<my network>" at the top of the password entry box. I have two sons with iPads, and I was able to disconnect and reconnect to the wireless network with no issue on theirs.  I set up a secure guest network, and was able to log in with my sons' iPads, but not mine.  Same issue.. I enter the password, and it comes back with "Incorrect password..."
When I set up an unsecure network, I'm able to join.and use as normal.  There must be a settings issue that I'm overlooking somewhere, but I can't seem to find it or figure out how to find it while I search the wasteland of Google search results.  Any help would be most appreciated.

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

  • Major iPad 3 WiFi connection issues since 5.1.1 update

Prior to the 5.1.1 update (which ironically was supposed to fix wifi issues), my iPad 3 worked great.  Since the update it has been a complete disaster.
Even though it always shows a strong wifi connection, certain apps seem to have no connection while others work fine.  Safari usually works ok, although sometimes pictures won't show up - just a small box in the corner.  Facebook app always seems to have issues as does Pandora.  The biggest problem is the App Store or iTunes which say it cannot connect even though Safari works fine at the same time.  Ive tried reconnecting, rebooting, and I even bought a new router since I thought maybe my old one was causing the problem.
Is Apple fessing up to this issue?  I have to believe it is a software/firmware issue since before the update everthing worked fine.

  • Ipad 3 Wifi connectivity issues on IOS8

Hi everyone, just wondering if anyone else has experienced wifi issues with ipad 3 (the retina late 2012 version). even right next to my router i keep losing connection and every time i turn on and off from sleep i need to disconnect and connect wifi again...it really *****.

    Yeah,
I always update my iDevices through my computer and iTunes.
It eliminates any possible errors that could happen over a wireless connection.
I have noted that users who upgrade/update their iOS devices over a wireless connection tend to have issues with their iPad after upgrading using that option.
Have you tried doing a hard reset of your iPad by holding both the Home and on/off buttons simultaneously?
This might clear up the issues.

  • IPad 1 internet connection issues for months--connects to modem fine

Was hoping the 4.3 upgrade would solve my issue, but it hasn't. I've had issues with my iPad for the past few months. It connects to my wireless network and works for some time (say a day or two) and then it suddenly cannot connect to the internet. The signal strength is strong. The IP addresses look the same as when it could connect to the internet, my iphone connects just fine (as does my laptop). I've upgraded modem firmware, changed modem login, tried WPA and WPA2, renewed lease on ipad, forgot network, extended my modem lease time, etc. But, I still have issues. I can unplug my modem and then the ipad connects fine...for a while. The only thing which keeps me connected for a while is to turn off my wifi everytime I'm done with my ipad...not exactly what I want to do. Any suggestions out there? Also, I should note that my ipad did not encounter any of these issues for the first 6 months of its life. I'm guessing an OS upgrade created all this nonsense.

turn wifi off on another device.  some routers have limits if no result do this
    reset network settings
restart your router make sure all lights are off and then come back on
    then
    reset network settings
    settings-general-reset-reset network settings
    now reconnect to wifi
settings- wifi- click network name- enter password - join
    Peace, Clyde

  • IPad Wifi intermittent connection issues

    Hi Folks,
I combed through the forum to see if anyone else has reported this issue. WOW, I was surprised at the wide range of general Wifi problems. Although many, many wifi issues are listed, I did not find a post already listing one.
My Wifi seems to work great on first glance, but when using the iPad for more than 5 minutes the issue becomes noticeable. This occurs while doing pretty much anything. I notice it the most when web surfing and reading books in iBooks. The wifi signal indicator in the status bar drops off to nothing, usually just for 10 seconds or so, then it reconnects. Sometimes it takes longer and at which time a little blue dialog box appears that says "Connecting..." Then it connects and life goes on. Rince and repeat 5-10 minutes later.
Now, I have a feeling it might be something with my Airport Base Station Extreme (ABSE) and here is why: My wife also has an iPad, and the same thing happens to her. It's not an extremely old ABSE, as it is "Extreme" running 7.4.2. I have tried several different settings on the ABSE including reverting to default settings and simply setting it up again with the most basic settings.
So, I am unsure if this problem is caused by the iPad or the ABSE, but either way, it is annoying. Was just wondering if others had experienced this and how they may have solved it. Judging by the wide range of serious wifi issues listed on this forum, it seems to be that Apple has some serious work to do on Wifi in general and maybe all these issues will be resolved in an update.
    TIA
    Lintila

I have relatively the same problem and a somewhat similar setup as you (airport extreme), but there are a few differences (for one, my wifi signal icon just disappears instantly and then the connecting dialogue box comes on). Haven't figured it out yet but I can add a couple things I have noticed. First, when it disconnects from my wifi, if I press the sleep button to turn the screen off and then press the home button to turn it back on and swipe the slider, the wifi is instantly connected back again. Second, for me, I notice it only occurs in 2 specific locations in my house and nowhere else...when I am laying on the couch and when I am laying in bed...hmmmm, maybe the gods are telling me not to get too complacent with my iPad. ;O) There are other locations in the house that are further from the base station and I don't have this problem so range is not the problem. And this problem only occurs periodically for me (maybe once or twice a day if that) so it is not too much of a pain. If it occurred often like it is doing for you, I would be a little more irritated. I will keep an eye out and will post back if I learn anything. For now, I am going to assume that this is just a typical kink in a new product that will eventually iron itself out on its own just as has happened in years past with various bugs in other devices.

  • Ipad 4 wifi connection issues

    Hi everyone,
I have had my ipad 4 for about a year now, but recently an issue has become apparent: I have trouble connecting to the internet!
At home, the internet works fine, but I've started noticing a problem at school (college) and public areas, like starbucks-  it simply would take forever to connect. Other times, it would not be able to even find the signal, though my laptop and iphone 4s/5s would work just fine.
Now I've been staying in Iceland for the past month, the issue has been extremely frustrating. I cannot connect to any of the wifi connections, though my laptop and iphone 5s work fine. The ipad will recognize the signal, but when I try to connect it would say "unable to connect to network".
I have tried resetting network settings, resetting my whole ipad, and turning my device on and off.
I cannot do anything with wifi routers, since I am always trying to use public wifi.
My ipad can use my iphone's hotspot just fine,.
It has been updated to the latest iOS.
    Thanks!

    Hello jay_ne,
It sounds like you are not able to connect to any Wi-Fi networks with your iPad even after restarting, resetting, and resetting the network settings. I can definitely see how that would be frustrating. Great troubleshooting so far, and because of what you have already done, I would next back up your iPad to your computer with this article:
iOS: How to back up and restore your content
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
And restore it from your backup with this article to delete and reinstall the iOS software. First set it up as a new device, and test the issue. If it works fine, then restore from your backup and verify it still works.

  • IPad 2 3G connectivity issues

I received a replacement iPad 2 3G this week under warranty for a faulty microphone on my original iPad 2.  I have run into many issues since attempting to set up the replacement.  After restoring from a backup I had 103 apps that needed updated through the App Store. (Most likely my fault as I hadn't transferred the purchases or chose to update my apps through iTunes before restoring).  I proceeded to update the apps only to have issues of the apps getting stuck on "installing" so I reset the iPad and decided to set up as new.  The next issue I encountered was iTunes stated that the iPad could not be activated and to try later.  I then tried to activate from the iPad using iCloud only to have the ipAd continually restart and never get activated.  After reading many posts, I took out the SIM card and immediately got activation on the iPad though iTunes.  Most of the problems solved.  One other annoying issue was that before resetting as "new" I was getting a repeated notification saying "this iPhone cannot make or receive calls, restore need.". After the restore I again got this notification but only got it once shortly after activating and haven't seen one since (one full day.) I did get one random notification just a few hours ago saying something along the lines of "fixed dialing calls activated" or something similar.  The main issue is that my iPad will not stay connected to 3G data.  It randomly and repeateldly will drop signal and shows "searching" to "no service" and then back again to showing an active 3G connection.  My previous iPad had a steady 3G connection at the same location so it's not a location issue. The only thing I can think of is that I had 3G activated on my original iPad 2 and moved that SIM card to the new iPad 2 as instructed by Apple and this is somehow affecting the 3G data.
Any ideas would be great.  I'm three hours from the closest Apple store and don't want to have to go through another replacement through Apple if at all possible.
    Thanks!

There's only two 3G cellular companies - AT&T or Verizon, but not both - on the iPad 2. This service is paid monthly & is totally separate from your home phone, cell phone or computer ISP.

  • IPad 2 WiFi Connection Loss After Update To iOS 4.3.2

I've been watching with growing alarm the explosion of complaints of iPad 2 WiFi connectivity issues since the upgrade to iOS 4.3.2. My iPad is becoming almost unusable because of this issue, and this after flawless performance of the two iPad 2 32GB WiFi-only machines I bought 15 March 2011. All the suggested solutions I've read of do not solve the problem.
This is very disturbing, and I hope Apple addresses this soon.

I also left feed back.  I thought apple was also on this did not realize it was just user to user with change.  Thanks Carolyn!

My new Ipad 3 cannot connect to WIFI even it has a full bar of reception. In the same location, my Windows 7 PC and Andorid Smart phone can connect to the same WIFI without any issues.  How can I fix it?  Without WIFI, the WIFI only IPAD is nearly useless. Take it to an Apple Store for evaluation. If defective, you'll get a replacement.

  • IPad 2 is having connectivity issues since I updated to 8.0.2

My IPad 2 had connectivity for about 6 hours after I downloaded 8.0.2 last Saturday.  Sunday morning I was back to NO SERVICE in the upper left hand corner.  Yesterday I went to the Apple Store and they showed me how to reset the cellular data, and again I had my 3G back for 6 hours.  Last night and again today we were back to NO SERVICE.  Again I went to the Apple Store and they explained that there were a few phone models that were having cellular connectivity issues, but not IPads.  Well, that's bunk, since I see the complaints that are exactly like mine all over the web.  The Apple Store wiped my IPad clean and told me that if this is a software issue this should fix the problem.  If this is a hardware issue then I will need to buy a new IPad.
Apple needs to own up to the problems that it caused with our devices.  AT LEAST, we should be able to take the updates off of our IPads and go back to 7.0.

  • Wireless connection issue with specific iPads

There seems to be a wireless issue with specific iPads. I sat with an Apple Genius in an adjacent Peets Coffee. His iPad connected on the first try after entering the access code. I had been trying all day with my iPad. This was after the Genius had me "Reset Network Settings" to return the factory defaults. Still no luck at Peets with my iPad. The coffee shop wireless signal on my iPad was 1 out of 3 bars. Yet this same iPad continues to have no issue connecting at the office or at home.

That's interesting. We also have the 64 GB Wi-Fi iPad. It connects fine at home, but only got one bar at the coffee shop and wouldn't connect this morning. Haven't tried it anywhere else yet.
