IPad wifi very unreliable after 6.1.3 upgrade

I more than a dozen devices of several manufacturers that use my two Linksys access points and all of them work reliably except my iPad second gen wifi only tablet. IOS 6.1.2 was very reliable as far as wifi goes on this tablet, but immediately after updating to 6.1.3 I now experience scenarios where the wifi will not connect. It sees APs listed, other devices are on the same AP but it wil not connect. Symptom starts when I move in the house from one AP to another. I Restart the iPad, I go to airplane mode, and try restarting wifi in settings app... Nothing works. It continues to show the APs but will not join them until I restart the AP. I won't accept having to restart my APs several times per week... None of the many other devices (apple TVs(2), iPhones (3), iPods (3), laptops (2), desktops (2), printer, bluray player) have any troubles, only the iPad and only after updating to 6.1.3. I never had to restart my APs until I updated this iPad to 6.1.3.
Does anyone have an answer for this? This clearly must be a software problem, right?

There are hardware diagnostics which can be run on the iPad. You were misinformed.

  • Wifi very slow after iOS 6.1 upgrade

Per iOS 6.1 I had no problems with my phones wifi.  After the upgrade however the phone will connect to it but data transmission is extremely slow.  Speed tests show that my connection speed on wifi is under 2Mb as where before the upgrade it was around 30.  Mail will not download now either without turning off wifi and going to lte.  Have also noticed that lte will randomly turn off and go to 4g while I am using it.  The phone usually then goes to no signal and then back to full.

    My
    iPhone 4s
on ios 6.1 is so slow ..... I am getting irritated first time with apple product mainly after step up on ios 6. Everything works great in ios 5.1.1 .....
Please fix this I cant download movies from itunes It takes so much time.....

  • IPad 3 very slow after updating to iOS 8

I Updated my iPad 3 to iOS 8 the day it was released and almost immediately after it finished updating I started having problems.
    1) The Wifi connection is incredibly slow on every device I update.
    2) The entire iPad 3 itself runs very slowly whether I am running apps or switching between (yes I have been shutting down programs when not using them as to conserve RAM but it still runs poorly)
I also did download 8.0.1 with no new issues but did also download and install 8.0.2
I just would like to know if there is anything I can do to get better performance back to my iPad.

No, this is definitely an iOS 8.3 bug, Allen. I have an iPad mini (original, 24/12 old) and an iPhone 5 (not S, 18/12 old). Updated both from 8.2 to 8.3. I keep them and the apps up to date and run a tight ship.
Since the update, the iPhone has been behaving normally.
However, starting immediately after the update, the iPad has been rebooting: when you plug it into the power and it goes to sleep, it reboots itself. This NEVER ONCE happened before the 8.3 update -- and I think I started with this iPad on iOS5 or at least 6, with all the updates inbetween. If you want to use it again shortly after plugging it in, you have to wait about five-ten minutes (as other have reported).  So far, it has always rebooted successfully. But you do have to put in your passcode in response to "you have to enter your passcode upon rebooting" message; and tell it to trust your current computer connect once again.
It just now rebooted itself once again when plugged into the computer USB port, while in the middle of a sync (the screen went to sleep). Not happy about that; potential to damage data.
I confirm: this NEVER happened before 8.3, and it now reliably happens EVERY TIME I plug the iPad into power and it goes to sleep. I have three power sources (computer USB, individual Apple charger, aftermarket reserve battery charter) and it happens with all of them.
As far as I can tell, it only reboots itself once per charger-plugin, and doesn't do so again until you unplug it and plug it back in again (somewhat confident, but not 100% sure, of that).
Hope that helps. The bug needs squashing, and soon.

  • IPad WiFi Greyed Out After Update To IOS 8.1!!!

So I finally bit the bullet and upgraded my iPad from 7.1 to 8.1, but now I find that my wifi won't work!   So I've tried all the common things to try to get my wifi working again (resetting network settings; rebooting,  turning wifi networking off in privacy settings), but still no joy. The only thing I haven't tried yet is a full reset to factory What's going on Apple?  How can an OS update kill my wifi/hardware as others are saying???

    Hi shaun297,
When you did the full factory reset, did you test the Wi-Fi before restoring from backup?  Please try that.
And it does look like you did most of the steps in this article.
iOS: Wi-Fi settings grayed out or dim - Apple Support
Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
    Restart your iOS device.
Make sure that airplane mode is off by tapping Settings > Airplane Mode.
Reset the network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
This will reset all network settings, including Bluetooth pairing records, Wi-Fi passwords, VPN, and APN settings.
Make sure that your device is using the latest software. To do so, connect your device to your computer and check for updates in iTunes.
If you still can't turn Wi-Fi on, please  contact Apple for support and service options. If you can turn Wi-Fi on but are experiencing other issues with Wi-Fi, see  how to resolve those Wi-Fi issues.
    Take care,

  • Ipad mini very slow after ios7 update

    A) Since installing IOS7 on my Ipad Mini (which I purchased only in April) everything runs slow
    B) Facebook flashes and disappears and I have to relaunch the program
    C) When switching screens the animation is very choppy
So what's the deal?  Were there real beta testers or what?  How can these things be missed??
    Where's the solutions?
    Jeannie

    Try a Restart.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
    Resetting your settings
You can also try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered. You won't lose any data, but it takes time to enter all of the settings again.
    Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Apple recommends this only if you are unable to restart it.
Or if this doesn't work and nobody else on the blog doesn't have a better idea you can contact Apple.
Here is a link to their contacts with most of the information below.

  • IPad 2 very unresponsive after 8.3 update

Three weeks ago I updated my iPad 2 to iOS 8.3 having been running iOS 7.1.2 Now the lag in wireless is very frustrating and apps are slow to load and respond, sometimes hanging altogether. I have tried a soft reset, hard reset, reset my wireless router but all to no avail. Has anyone got a solution or ideas for me to try? I have read that it is too late to revert to iOS 7.1.2 but if there is a way ..?
I do not wish to buy a new iPad as this one was working with no problems before the upgrade. Many thanks.

Hi Have you tried a Factory Reset this will get rid of any bugs . Cheers Brian

After  the ios update when i try to type the keys take a long time to work and then sometimes wrong letter.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:

After upgrading to iOS 4.2.1 iPad
    1. is not recognized by my PC/MBPro with a message "USB not recognized".
    2. is not getting charged by my iPad 10W Charger.
    3. The battery drained almost completely and now showing trickle charge (Red)
    4. If connected to the charger/Mac/PC it starts showing the charge sign and after sometime the Apple Logo with the spinning wheel appears and stuck permanently.
    5. It is completely dead but is showing the battery icon with red and GUI message of Plug -> Charge. but is not charging if connect.
I had bought this iPad from the US this summer. But I live in the UAE. Whom should I contact?

Well, I got it working. Uninstalled Itunes. Re-installed it. Still stopped at 95%. Eventually it just finished. I tried all kinds of things and honestly don't know if I got it working or it did it by itself. What a royal pain. And I must say, I truly hate Itunes. I desperately want a USB slot that I can copy files and photos to the way I want to.
And what the heck is this Game Center that suddenly shows up on my Ipad??? And it can't be deleted. Not sure if I own an iPad or I am just renting one from Steve Jobs.
I am pretty sure I'll be looking at competing models after the holidays.

  • Wifi occasionally disappearing after OS X Yosemite upgrade

Recently I upgraded to OS X Yosemite. Since then everything has been working pretty much fine, except every so often my wifi connection suddenly disappears. I have to turn my wifi off and then on again to get my internet connection back. This isn't a huge deal to me (it could be worse) but it is very annoying. I have read about various "fixes" for this problem in Yosemite but I don't know if they are intended for my particular problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    1. Check the cycle count of the battery against the rated life for your model. The battery may be due for replacement. If the power adapter is connected almost all the time, the battery may need replacing even though the cycle count is not too high.
    2. Follow these instructions, or these for OS X 10.8 or earlier.
    3. In the Energy Saver preference pane, uncheck the box marked
Enable Power Nap while on battery power
if it's shown (it may not be.)
    4. You can also try resetting the SMC.
    5. Make sure your system is up to date in Software Update.
    6. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service center.

  • IPad won't charge after (failed) iOS 5 upgrade

    Hi,
The upgrade to iOS 5 on my iPad failed during the back up stage.
Now the iPad will not not 'hold a charge'.
When plugged into either the iMac or wall charger, by a number of different cords, it starts, the apple logo displays, the home screen shows for a brief instant, and it shuts down again, indicating that there is no charge. After a few minutes, it builds up a charge, restarts, and then quits again.
I have been successful it starting it in 'restore mode', and it is recognised in iTunes and can be restored. However, the lack of charge problem returns when it is restarted.
Upgrading iPhones and an iPad2 have been previously successful.
Has anyone else experienced this? It seems to much of a coincidence that a battery problem developed during the upgrade process.
    Thanks.

Same issue here. I have 2 ipads killed by IOS7.

  • IPad keyboard not responsive after iOS 7.1 upgrade

I have an iPad Air and upgraded to 7.1. After upgrading my keyboard became almost non-responsive. It literally takes several seconds for a keystroke to appear on the screen. I have tried this in several apps with the same result.
I reset my iPad Air and restored from my backup. No change to the keyboard behavior. Also tried resetting all settings and that did not work either.
I also upgraded my iPhone 5 to 7.1 and am not experiencing this problem.

I have the exact same problem on my iPad Air. Every keystroke takes up to 10 seconds to register. I have not tried any resets or restores yet.
I'm using the norwegian on-screen keyboard. If I change to english while the keyboard is displaying, the stutter/lag/freeze disappears.
@Shing If you're also using a localized keyboard, can you check if the problem disappears when changing to the english keyboard?

  • WIFI doesnt work after the windows 10 upgrade

hi i'm having a wifi problem once i've  upgraded to windows 10to be short , my wifi is disabled and i cant activate it neither manually ( Fn + F12 ) or authomatically (via windows )i tried to update my drivers ( they are all updated ) and the strange thing is that my bluethoot works perfectely !i'm having also a driver that says it is damaged it has a yellow triangle in it , this is its name ACPI\HPQ6001\2&DABA3FF&3thanks for your help

Finally I've solved it! I have a "HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook", I used to turn on/off mi WIFI with FN+FN12 combination in Windows 7. When I've installed Windows 10, I realized that this combination does not work anymore, it only enables/disables the Airplane Mode.  My assumption for the root of the issue is; if somehow if you forget the WIFI turned off during Windows 10 installation, it stays turned off from the BIOS, and if you dont have a hard switch (not a key combination) to turn it on you will not be able to turn it on via the keyboard, because FN+FN12 combination will not trigger it anymore.  For my Pavillion solution was (as someone mentioned it in the forums earlier) to load the default options from the BIOS, which will reconfigure your BIOS and WIFI will be "Hard Enabled" as it was in Factory Defaults. Don't forget to "Save and Exit" when exiting the BIOS menu.  Good Luck!

    Hello, @Nautic-Al
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you're having an audio issue with the notebook. I would like to try to help you with this.
As you're using a Trial version of Windows please read this document: HP PCs - About Beta or Preview Software.
To go along with that I will provide you this document for troubleshooting: No Sound from Speakers (Windows 8).
If that does not help you, then you'll have to revert back to the installed OS or completely upgrade to a non trial version.
