Ipad will not open apps

When opening apps on the ipad the apps will just flash and not open.  The native apps will work, however.  THis has occurred after I have done the 4.3.5 update.  I have 60+ ipads that have the same problem.  I work in a school setting.  Any suggestions will be great.  THanks!

Try downloading any new free app from the store (as that appears to reset something) and then re-try them - the free app can then be deleted.

my ipad will not open any of my apps.

First thing to try is a reboot of your iPad. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the iPad restart. See if that fixes your problem.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
This works for some users. Not sure why.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year. Then see if you can connect to the store.

  • Ipad will not open any downloaded apps

My ipad will not open any apps that I downloaded. How do I fix this?

If they are crashing - try downloading another app - any free app is fine.
If they will not open at all when you tap on the icons - try restarting or resetting the iPad.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • My Ipad will not open, the apple remains solid

My iPad will not open to the apps. I have reset it and the only thing that happens is the Appel appears and then it stays. Any ideas on how to get beyond this point?

Have you rebooted:  Press and hold BOTH the power and home buttons at the SAME time for about 10 seconds (ignore the red slider) until the Apple Logo appears, then let go of both buttons and your iPad will [hopefully] restart.

  • My iPad will not update apps.  I did try all previous suggestions.

My iPad will not update apps.  I did try all the suggestions.  When I click on the rapidly growing number of updates, the screen stays blank.  Nothing is being downloaded.  I have worn out the re-boot function.

This is a problem that many users are experiencing now. Apple is working on a fix.
According to Fly150 in another discussion, this will work.
If you want to update the Apps while waiting for Apple to fix Updates:
    1. Go to App Store
    2. Select Purchased
    3. Select All
    4. Scroll down to find the Apps showing update
    5. Select update on the Apps
This should update the Apps and get rid of the update count in App Store. Apple needs to fix this, because you cant fix it. It is a workaround only.
you can update your apps in iTunes on your computer and sync the, to the iPad as well.

  • IPad will not download apps.

My iPad will not download apps. It asks for my password, I enter it, then the app appears on screen with "waiting." Then nothing more happens. I am able to download email and get on webpages without trouble. We have an airport wireless router hard wired to our cable modem. Have looked at all the suggestions on apple support page...any ideas?

Do you have any podcasts that could be stuck? Things downloading in the background that might have gotten paused?

  • My Ipad 2 will not open apps that I have download from the app store but will open apps that came preinstalled.

My IPAD 2 will some times not open apps that I have down load from the app store. But will open all of the preinstalled apps.I must go to the app store and install something and then all the apps will open. I should not have to install unwanted apps to keep my IPad working.I have reset and total reset nothing sames to work.

Sounds to me like you may have an issue with the firmware, i.e. the iOS version that you are runing.  I also have an iPad 2  and sometimes have to restart it to get it to recognize and run a newly downloaded app.  And only once or twice have I had to uninstall and redownload an app that this didn't fix. I think this has more to do with the way an app has been coded more than anything else.
You might try doing a "Reset All Settings" reset and set it up as a new iPad.  You should not lose any data, apps, music, videos, etc. that you have stored on your device.  I have done this a few times when tweaking the iOS 5.0.1 firmware and never lost anything.  You do have to re-enter your ID's and Passwords for wifi.  And of course you will need to go back into settings and reset any changes you may have made to things like location and notifications.
I don't know if this will work, but if I was in your place this is the next step that I would take.

  • My apps on he iPad will not open suddenly. It seems to be all apps and powering off and on does not fix the problem

The apps on my iPad are nt working. What do I do?

If it truly is ALL apps (including the preinstalled apps) that will not open, try a reset and see if that helps.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
If only the third party apps will not work, then Meg's advice should work.

  • Ipad Updated to 4.3.2 & now will not open Apps

I updated my Ipad to 4.3.2 this afternoon using itunes on my MacPro. Now the Ipad won't open apps such as Kindle, Numbers, Pages, Google Earth etc. It tries to open, shows black screen and immediately goes back to the icon page. Internet connections to websites like Google, MSBC etc. do work. HELP

Please ignore the question about purchased apps in the prior post. The app store recognized my account allowed replacement downloads. One final question. I thought that itunes backed up ALL my apps prior to loading the 4.3.2 software update. Is it supposed to do this or not? Thanks
There is a pulldown menu option in iTunes on your computer for "Transfer all purchases from iPad". Typically, this is done as part of a sync. I usually do this and sync, just prior to an upgrade.
I have my iTunes set to prevent automatically syncing devices, so I can control this step manually.
    It's under Edit > Preferences > Devices.
And as you stated, you can re-download apps for free as long as you use the same apps store account.
Glad you are good to go.

  • Safari on my iPad will not open, it will come up but will not let me type or display other than blank page.

Safari on my IPad 4 will not open. It will come up but is blank and will not let me type a search or navigate anywhere.

Also close all apps in the multi-task window
    1.Double-click the Home button.
    2. Swipe the app's preview up to close it.
    3. Preview will fly off the screen.
