Ipad wireless connection question

I cant connect ipad to a particular wireless network. I have the password but the ipad won't offer the password box. It just says unable to join. This is after I entered the incorrect password once.

Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
    •    Launch Settings app
    •    Tap on Wi-Fi
    •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
    •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

  • Ipad wireless connection to Color Laserjet pro MFP M177

Struggling on set up. The printer seems to require a network through which to wirelessly connect to my IPAD. But my IPAD runs on 3G and is not part of any network in my office. I already have the IPAD connecting to a HP printer at home where there is a network, but not at my office location. so ive already got the HP eprint App up and running, but it cant identify the printer, which is switched on (but which is asking for me to select a network). So can anyone direct me as to how I wirelessly (no other way with an IPAD) connect my IPAD to my brand new Laserjetc Pro MFP printer ? Mny tks

    Hi,
You should either plug the printer to your network via an Ethernet cable or wirelessly by running the installation on a PC, then connect the iPad to the same wireless network as the printer.
If you do not have a wireless network at the office you may also use the Wireless Direct feature of the printer by following these steps:

  • Is the iPad wireless connection safe for someone with a pacemaker?

A friend of mine wants to purchase an iPad, but is worried that the wireless connection might interfere with her heart pacemaker.
Normally, with other devices,  she disables their wireless interface and uses a wired connection instead, to avoid the risk.
As I understand it, the iPad cannot be connected to the internet with a wire, only via a wireless link. Is that so?
If a wireless connection must be used, do you have any recommendations for users with pacemakers, please?
    Many thanks.

I believe you can connect it to a mac via usb and use the internet through the usb cable. That would defeat the purpose of it being mobile though. Like the others said I would consult a doctor and see if the wifi signals will have any effect. If she uses a cell phone those put out way more power than a typical wifi connection. That is why wifi uses less battery power than 3G
No, actually you can't. The iPad is a mobile, device with no way to connect via USB other than to synch to iTunes.
As previously suggested, the OP should advise the friend to consult her physician or the pacemaker manufacturer. However, considering that encountering radio waves of the type used for wireless network connections is COMPLETELY unavoidable is the friend has any mobility at all, I have difficulty thinking it would be an issue or a needed precaution. A quick Google search indicates a pacemaker is NOT adversely affected by wireless networks.

  • New Apple TV and wireless Connection Question?

My son lives in Russia and works for the State Dept. He want an Apple TV. The problem is that he is not tech savvy. Does the Apple TV need to connect wired or wireless to the router or just to the laptop to stream. He has a wireless connection for the laptop but if he has to go through set up and connect it to a router, I will never be able to walk him through it from 10,000 miles away. I have the old Apple tv and have it connected to the router with a wired connection. But I guess my IMAC synchs with the old Apple TV to send programs whether it is hardwired to a router or not. I hope this makes sense.

New AppleTv will connect via ethernet or wi-fi as before.
You could more than likely just connect it directly to the laptop with ethernet to stream locally stored content, but you'd need to set up some kind of internet sharing for it to access any internet or itunes store features.
AppleTV could also be set to work with an ad hoc wireless network from laptop but again internet connection would have to be shared over this, and it might be a bit fiddly too if router setup is going to be fiddly.
Simplest would be to connect both to router with ethernet. Have you considered mains powerline ethernet adapters if running cables is impractical?

  • Z10 Wireless Connection Question

One minor quirk that I have noticed with my z10 over the last few months -- when I have both Wifi and cell radio connections on at home wireless connections sometimes seem to struggle (especially apps like Facebook, Twitter, PGA Tour).  If I turn off WiFi then response is very good -- I'm on Rogers LTE: is it possible WiFi and LTE somehow conflict sporadically?  Our iPhone doesn't seem to have this problem but it's a non LTE iPhone 4s.
Just installed the latest OS patch but no change to this one
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    I'd recommend:
Delete the saved WiFi profile on your Z10 (Settinggs > Network Connections > WiFi > find your connection and open it and choose the trashcan below to delete it.
Restart the Z10 (hold the top edge power button down a few seconds > restart at bottom right)
Then setup your same WiFi connection again.

  • IPad - SUP connection questions

The import works perfectly on device but I'd like to have more control on that. here are different questions I'm asking myself concerning that :
    1) I'd like to check if the connectivity is ok before deleting the local DB ?
When using the code above the locale db is deleted before launching SUPMessageClient start. It is recommended to do that in the documentation BUT, if the connection does not succeed, the locale db is empty and the iPAd app can not be used anymore. IS there a way to check connectivity before launching the sync process ?
    2) On the other hand, I've got a method creating new elements and I'm calling submitPending, but nothing happens in terms of update to the server. Should I do a subscribe to the package each time I want to interact with the remote SAP server ?

    Hi again,
yes, you can search for records in the local (iPad) database. Contrary to Apple's core data you don't have to use predictives but you have to define the query for a database search on the SUP. When modelling the attributes of your MBO in the Unwired Workspace, you can define the syntax of the query on right-most tabsheet (named "Object Queries"). The "findAll" and "findByPrimaryKey" query are the 2 default ones.
For instance, if you have a MBO called "TimeRecord", a query could look like:
    SELECT x.* FROM TimeRecord x
    WHERE x.WBS_ELEMENT = :wbsNumber
    AND x.WORKDATE = :Workdate
where you have to define the parameters wbsNumber and Workdate which are mapped to the MBO-fields WBS_ELEMENT and WORKDATE respectively. The name of the query could be LookForTimerec
In xCode you can now simply type:
    objTimeRecordList* timerecordlist = [objTimeRecord LookForTimerec:wbsElement withWorkdate:workDate];
where wbsElement and workDate are Objective-C variables (which you have to define).
objTimerecord is the class-Name of the MBO and objTimeRecordList is the SUPObjectList of Timerecords: both objects will be generated by SUP and are imported with the source code into your xCode project.
During runtime, the variables wbsElement and workDate will be mapped onto the query-parameters wbsNumber and Workdate.
    Best regards
    Herwig

  • Wireless connection questions

Hi everyone, I'm considering going wireless soon, but I don't know a whole lot about it.
I have a few questions that maybe you could clear up for me.
First of all, it seems to me that the Airport Extreme Base Station isn't as fast as a lot of wireless routers I'm seeing sold these days. I've noticed some up to 108mbps, yet airport is only 54mbps.
    So what I'm wondering is,
    1) does the airport extreme card only work to connect to the airport base stations and not other wireless routers?
    2) If the airport extreme cards do work with other wireless routers, is it a good idea to go with a faster wireless router than an airport extreme base?
    3) What is the best wireless networking setup I should consider buying?
    Thanks in advance,
    -Merc

As mentioned the AEBS is 802.11G, just like many routers out there right now, so it is every bit as good as they are. The Airport card will connect to any 802.11G - or B - router out there, regardless of who makes it.
Keep in mind that those higher speeds that you see with a SuperG router are only going to be realized in your local network - that means between your computers - and not on the internet. Your typical broadband connection here in the States is about 4-6mbps, and even the slowest 802.11G connection is much faster than that at 54mbps.
Getting a faster router will only allow you to transfer files between computers faster. It will have no effect on your internet download speeds.

Turning off Autofill in Safari may allow proper sign-on. Go to Settings > Safari > Autofill and turn it Off. There is an interference between a Safari dialog (save password?) that appears when Autofill is turned On and the successful completion of the sign-on process to the WiFi access point.

  • Simple wireless connection question-one laptop hookup

Can one get a "wireless modem" from a cable company and buy a laptop (mac)and connect wirelessly to this modem, without having to plug the modem directly into the laptop? I've heard of "networking" where the cable modem plugs directly into a desktop, then a laptop can find connection wirelessly, but what if there's ONE computer and you don't want it wired to modem, but want to move around the house. Sorry for dumb question, but I can't seem to think thru this! Thanks ahead for help!

What you mean is a wireless router. Very different from a wireless modem of which there are several (e.g. ethernet, USB and CardBus). Yes, you set up a wireless network via that modem/router. However, you situation is totally dependent on what your ISP provides/recommends. Check with your ISP. If they provide you with just a modem, you would pick up something like the AirPort Express to create a wireless network for your notebook to access wirelessly.

  • Laptop v iPad Wireless Connectivity

Side by side my MacBook gets full wireless signal in the house while my iPad is only showing a single bar. It's not the end of the world but certainly annoying because I usually use the iPad around the house for casual surfing and it's notably slower than it should be. Has anyone else had similar problems? Does this seem odd to anyone else?

    HR wrote:
I am right now sitting between 2 Apple routers. ... We know of 2 others with iPad's and their experience is the same.
With Apple routers? Your experiences are not typical. The vast majority of iPad owners have no problems. The vast majority of those who do report problems do not use Apple routers. If you have all Apple equipment and they don't work well together, take them into the store and get them fixed. Something is wrong.
My suggestion is live with it as it does not appear Apple is going to do anything about it.
Have you done anything about it?
These pages are loaded with complaints about iPad wifi and nothing has been done about it.
You are correct on that one. Very few people take their iPads into the Apple store and test them on a known, good network. If you did that, and your iPad didn't work, you could get a new iPad. If you did that, and your iPad did work, you could get new routers.
You have put too much faith into the misinformation on the internet. Put your faith in Apple, where it belongs and go get your equipment fixed.

  • Wireless Connection questions on an unmanaged swtich

Hi all - here is the case: at some point in our network, we have lost connection. I have identified the switch this is occurring at.
If I plug the feed into my laptop and constant ping Google (8.8.8.8), I am able to get out to the internet no problem. If I plug that feed into a switch and plug my laptop into that switch, no more connectivity.
    Steps already taken:
    Tried other ports on switch
    Power-cycled switch
    Tried another switch
All to no avail, I am baffled. Thoughts anyone?
The switch is Linksys EF4124 and is unmanaged
Light indicator: feed to switch - no light on switch
Light indicator: switch to laptop - green light on switch, no light on laptop (no LED to be lit on laptop)
Yes, multiple computers are connected to this switch and yes none of them are working (sort of answered after noticing the light indicator is off on the feed port)
    No looped ports
    No serial console available
Remember, I have tested with another switch. So physical switch/switch settings are less likely
What really gets me is no light indicator on the port with the feed. I have tried moving the feed to other ports also, no dice.

As mentioned the AEBS is 802.11G, just like many routers out there right now, so it is every bit as good as they are. The Airport card will connect to any 802.11G - or B - router out there, regardless of who makes it.
