IPad won't bluetooth pair with Mac mini

I would like to use Mobile Mouse by RPA Tech on my IPad mini  to control my Mac mini running OS X  10.6.8.  It would be my preference to use a Bluetooth PAN instead of WiFi,   I say this because Bluetooth peripherals seem to auto-connect better than Wifi, might be my imagination.  Anyway, I can't get my iPad to pair with the Mac.  The Mac sends a code, the iPad asks if I want to pair, then the pairing comes back as unsuccessful.  Any ideas?

It is not designed to. The ipad will not even connect with it with air drop. You can only pair a mouse or keyboard.

I can't seem to get the Bluetooth on my Mac Mini to recognize my LG wireless speakers (though the Bluetooth on my iPad recognizes the LG wireless speakers). Any thoughts on how to correct this?
The Mac Mini simply does not seem to recognize that the LG speaker exists.  I know the LG speaker is in Bluetooth discxoverable mode, as my iPad sees it.

You do have the iPad's BT turned off, right, when you try to pair with the Mac?
Better yet, on the iPad make sure the speakers are unpaired-removed, and then try pairing with your mini.

  • IPad calendar fails to synch with Mac mini

How can I fix a recent failure of iPad calendar to synch with Mac mini?  iTunes no longer saks me about ocnflicts between the iPad and the computer.

While waiting, I found the fix in another thread:
Open iSync on main computer with iPad attached and turned on.
    Choose "Reset sync history".
That is all there is to it.  The "Sync" still did not recognize two events scheduled for the same time, one in one sub-calendar on the iPad, and in another one on the Mac Mini.  I wound up with two choir practices, one in blue and one in pink on both devices.  Should it have noticed these and asked me about them?
I also read elsewhere that it messes up the iPad to change an event from one calendar sub-heading to another.  I will avoid doing that in the future.

  • Trouble pairing bluetooth keyboard with mac mini

I bought a generic bluetooth keyboard and I am trying to use it with a Mac mini using 10.6.8.  The bluetooth setup sees "Bluetooth Keyboard" and connects to it.  I enter the passcode on the keyboard, but after about 25 seconds it says "The pairing attempt was unsuccessful.  This configuration of Mac OS X and Bluetooth software could be invalid or unsupported."  If I watch the bluetooth control panel during this process, it says it is connected and paired as soon as I hit "return" but then disappears when I get the message.  I already tried trashing com.apple.bluetooth.plist and restarting.  I made sure nothing was on top of the Mac, and turned off the WiFi on my router, but nothing helps.

Update:  I tried to pair with my bluetooth cell phone.  If I initiate the connection from the Mac, same thing.  However, I was able to successfully pair and download pictures, if I initiate from the phone.  ???

  • Keyboard won't re-pair with Mac Pro

    OK, here it goes...
    I have a 2007 Mac Pro (2 x 3 GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon, 4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM, 500GB HD) running OS X 10.6.8, with zero hardware issues this entire time.
With it, I have the A1016 wireless keyboard. Never had issues with it either. Yes, some slight, temporary loss of signal here and there over the past 7 years, but nothing that lasted more than a few seconds, and extremely rare.
Yesterday the keyboard loses connection. Seemingly, no big deal.
    - OK, I wave it closer to the tower...nothing.
    - I turn it off then back on...nothing.
    - Batteries were at 47%, but I put some fresh ones in anyway...nothing.
    - I restart the computer...nothing.
    - I shut off the computer, let it rest a while, turn it back on...nothing.
    - I check the Bluetooth preferences. Keyboard is paired, but not connected. No clue why it won't connect.
    - I check the keyboard. The green light turns on for a sec then starts blinking as if it is discoverable. After many attempts, it still won't connect.
    - I clean the battery port and the keys of the keyboard, just in case. No improvement.
    - I remove the device from the Bluetooth pairing and attempt to re-pair.
    - All I get is a gray spinning pinwheel that won't find the keyboard.
    - I go to Bluetooth Setup Assistant.
    - 1 device found: Apple Wireless Keyboard...GREAT!... I click Continue
    - "Attempting to pair with Apple Wireless Keyboard"
    - Passkey comes up 0000... gray spinning pinwheel...and times out without giving me a space to type it. says "The pairing attempt was unsuccessful"
    - I click Passcode Options and select "Automatically generate a passcode...OK...Continue
    - The 8 digit passcode appears...gray spinning pinwheel...and times out without giving me a space to type it. says "The pairing attempt was unsuccessful"
    - I repeat every option about 50 times. Still nothing.
I have researched EVERY internet forum and have not found anyone with this same issue, nor anywhere near a solution. Apple care is long gone and I'm not paying them $20 to answer my question while sitting on a custom $7,000 Mac Pro and another $2,000 in iProducts. I'm at a loss at this point. If I knew what the issue was, I'd be able to determine if my computer is at fault or my keyboard is at fault. I know my gear is relatively old, but I'm not going to buy new tech if I don't have to. Plus, I'm pretty broke at the moment, so buying new tech would be painful.
I'm a freelance designer and editor with deadlines and limited options until my next paycheck. I'm wirelesly using my iPad as a keyboard for my Mac Pro at the moment, but it's FAR from ideal and is slowing me down.
I would GREATLY appreciate any informatiom and kind advice from anyone who happens to know how to fix this issue.
    Thank you in advance!!!

I had something similar happen once, and I had somehow inadvertantly paired my keyboard with another in-range device (in this case my iPad) which it was actively connected to.  This prevented it from connecting to my desktop.
I've also had problems with with certain desk blotters which contain metals and have experienced bluetooth connectivity issues when my wifi was struggling for a signal (your antennae crank up the juice when that happens).
Other than that, I'm sorry I don't have much.

  • Apple Wireless Mouse - No Longer Pairs with Mac Mini?

    Hi there,
I've had an Apple Wireless Keyboard and an Apple Wireless Mouse for several months. Unfortunately, the Apple Wireless Mouse no longer pairs with the Mac Mini (Core Duo, 1.66) -- it is getting very frustrating.
I've tried rebooting the machine, restarting the mouse, and nothing works. Sometimes I get the Bluetooth Setup Assistant which says that it found 1 Mouse, but it failed to pair.
I replaced the batteries, but nothing changes.
    Help!

Normally that's caused by debris under the trackball preventing the rollers from moving.  Turn the mouse upside down and rub the trackball Vigorously with a microfiber cloth.
The symptoms are usually that scroll will work one direction but not the other.

  • Should the bluetooth in an ipad 1 recognise bluetooth from a mac mini (snow leopard) or iphone4?

Hello, i have an ipad1 64gb 3g which obviously has bluetooth.  When searching devices it has never recognised another device, particularly the mac mini and iphone.  Bluetooth is switched on.  I would like to eventually be able to wirelessly sync calenders, contacts, photos etc without hard wire connecting.  Should this be possible between apple devices???

Not possible with Bluetooth as they don't have the FTP profile (File Transfer Protocol).
WiFi syncing between your computer, or iCloud and your iPad will be available in iOS 5

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether your problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Shut down your computer, wait 30 seconds, and then hold down the shift key while pressing the power button.
When you see the gray Apple logo, release the shift key.
If you are prompted to log in, type your password, and then hold down the shift key again as you click  Log in.
*Note: If FileVault is enabled under OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode. Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.  The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Monitor won't wake up with Mac Mini

I am using a Mac Mini (late 2012; OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.2) connected via HDMI to a Samsung Syncmaster S27B350 monitor.  When the Mac wakes from sleep, the monitor will wake up for about 5 seconds and then go black.  If I unplug the monitor from AC power and then plug it back in and turn it on, it works fine.
I have read several threads but haven't found a solution.
I have the monitor set to PC mode.  Any suggestions?

I have a Mac Mini Server 2012 with OS X 10.8.2 and an Belkin HDMI to DVI cable to an AsusMW221u.  Whenever the Mac Mini sleeps, either logged in to a user, or still on the log-in page, the display will either show all-white or all-black.  If I move my finger on the Magic Pad, a little rectangle, like the size of the Apple Logo, will wipe on the screen leaving non-contiguous rectangles on the display. Behind the rectangles I can see the log-in user circles and the password box.  Once logged-in, the screen refreshed and problem disappeared, until next sleep time comes.  I think it's the Intel HD Graphics 4000 driver problem.  Similar situation happens very often in Windows based notebook and PCs.

  • New iphone 5s won't bluetooth pair with new macbook pro

How is it that Apple didn't fix this?  I have all the current software and hardware and there is no way that Apple didn't foresee people wanting to use applications to sync and work across platforms with their $3000 investment in Apple products.
    Any thoughts?

As you are probably aware, the bluetooth profiles supported are limited: iOS: Supported Bluetooth profiles
I don't have any idea why. You could however provide feedback to Apple at https://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

Does the iPhone 4S supports Bluetooth pairing with iPad mini?

Only from within peer-to-peer apps from the app store or internet tehering (if proved by the carrier)
They support bluetooth for handsfree telephone, stereo music, some keyboards, some peer-to-peer apps from the app store, and internet tethering when provided by the carrier.

iPad won't Bluetooth with iPhone 4s

    Hi kalidongnv,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
These troubleshooting steps can help if your iPad won't pair with your bluetooth speaker:
Check that you are in range of the Bluetooth device with which you are trying to pair your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. Most Bluetooth devices have a range of approximately 30 feet.
On your iOS device, tap Settings > Bluetooth and find your device in the list. If your device says Not Connected, tap the name of your device to attempt to connect it.
Tap Settings > Bluetooth and turn Bluetooth off and then on again.
Make sure that your Bluetooth accessory is turned on and fully charged or connected to power.
    Restart your iOS device.
Tap Settings > Bluetooth and locate the Bluetooth accessory you are currently connected to or attempting to connect to. Then tap and Forget this Device. Try to pair your Bluetooth accessory again.
Note: You may need to re-enter your Bluetooth accessory PIN if your accessory requires one. Some common PINs are 0000, 1111, and 1234.
Restart your Bluetooth accessory by turning it off and then on again1.
Update your device to the latest version of software. See how to update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
If your Bluetooth accessory has upgradeable firmware, check to see that you have the latest version1, 2.

Apple TV mirroring issues even with Mac mini, airport extreme bought at the end of last year, and an iPad 2

I have the same issue with ATV3 and iPhone 4S. Everything works properly, no buffering issues when watching netflix, vimeo, youtube BUT when I try mirroring even a small 15sec iPhone movie it stutters and buffers and results to a choppy playback..same with larger mp4 files such as 1-1.5GB, buffers forever and never plays, I just re-encoded the same movie to 700MB and plays perfectly..
Why Apple, why?..so close..I can accept the bigger movie files issue, but not being able to playback properly an iPhone movie is funny..I recorded a movie with lower bitrate through Filmic Pro (Economy mode, up to 16Mbps)
    and plays properly.
Is there an upcoming software update going to solve the problem or is it hardware related and therefore not fixable.
Please don't reply with a network related answer, by 2012 we know how to set up our networks and everything else runs flawlessly.
I'll apreciate a fast answer, we love Apple, but if it can't play an iphone movie (or a high quality movie from iTunes) it's just not up to my standards.
    Thanks again.
