I have downloaded ios 6 on my ipad 2 but it wouldn't install and now my ipad won't work (just has the apple logo on the screen periodically) and it won't reset. Any ideas folks? Thanks in advance.

Try restoring the device using iTunes. Connect the iPad to your computer and when iTunes opens, select your device on the left side, then click on the summary tab, then click on Restore.
After the device is restored you will have an opportunity to restore from your backup. Restore from the backup when you are done and then sync with iTunes.
if that doesn't work, try recovery mode.

  • Macbook pro won't startup.  Stuck on apple logo with spinning wheel.

When I start up my 15 inch Macbook pro, it gets to the apple logo screen with the spinning gear underneath and it just stays there and does not startup.  I have let it sit that way for up to an hour and it juts stays on that screen.  Please help!

Take each of these steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
The first step in dealing with a boot failure is to secure your data. If you want to preserve the contents of the startup drive, and you don't already have at least one current backup, you must try to back up now, before you do anything else. It may or may not be possible. If you don't care about the data that has changed since your last backup, you can skip this step.
There are several ways to back up a Mac that is unable to boot. You need an external hard drive to hold the backup data.
         a. Boot into the Recovery partition, or from a local Time Machine backup volume (option key at startup.) When the OS X Utilities screen appears, launch Disk Utility and follow the instructions in this support article, under “Instructions for backing up to an external hard disk via Disk Utility.”
    b. If you have access to a working Mac, and both it and the non-working Mac have FireWire or Thunderbolt ports, boot the non-working Mac in target disk mode. Use the working Mac to copy the data to another drive. This technique won't work with USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth.
    c. If the internal drive of the non-working Mac is user-replaceable, remove it and mount it in an external enclosure or drive dock. Use another Mac to copy the data.
    Step 2
Press and hold the power button until the power shuts off. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed to boot, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Use a different keyboard and/or mouse, if those devices are wired. If you can boot now, one of the devices you disconnected, or a combination of them, is causing the problem. Finding out which one is a process of elimination.
If you've booted from an external storage device, make sure that your internal boot volume is selected in the Startup Disk pane of System Preferences.
    Step 3
Boot in safe mode. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Post for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
When you boot in safe mode, it's normal to see a dark gray progress bar on a light gray background. If the progress bar gets stuck for more than a few minutes, or if the system shuts down automatically while the progress bar is displayed, your boot volume is damaged and the drive is probably malfunctioning. In that case, go to step 5.
If you can boot and log in now, empty the Trash, and then open the Finder Info window on your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) Check that you have at least 9 GB of available space, as shown in the window. If you don't, copy as many files as necessary to another volume (not another folder on the same volume) and delete the originals. Deletion isn't complete until you empty the Trash again. Do this until the available space is more than 9 GB. Then reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.)
If the boot process hangs again, the problem is likely caused by a third-party system modification that you installed. Post for further instructions.
    Step 4
Sometimes a boot failure can be resolved by resetting the NVRAM.
    Step 5
Launch Disk Utility in Recovery mode (see Step 1.) Select your startup volume, then run Repair Disk. If any problems are found, repeat until clear. If Disk Utility reports that the volume can't be repaired, the drive has malfunctioned and should be replaced. You might choose to tolerate one such malfunction in the life of the drive. In that case, erase the volume and restore from a backup. If the same thing ever happens again, replace the drive immediately.
This is one of the rare situations in which you should also run Repair Permissions, ignoring the false warnings it may produce. Look for the line "Permissions repair complete" at the end of the output. Then reboot as usual.
    Step 6
Boot into Recovery again. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, follow the prompts to reinstall the OS. If your Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade.
Note: You need an always-on Ethernet or Wi-Fi connection to the Internet to use Recovery. It won’t work with USB or PPPoE modems, or with proxy servers, or with networks that require a certificate for authentication.
    Step 7
Repeat step 6, but this time erase the boot volume in Disk Utility before installing. The system should automatically reboot into the Setup Assistant. Follow the prompts to transfer your data from a backup.
    Step 8
A dead logic-board battery in a Mac Pro can cause a gray screen at boot. Typically the boot failure will be preceded by loss of the startup disk and system clock settings. See the user manual for replacement instructions.
    Step 9
If you get this far, you're probably dealing with a hardware fault. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested.

    FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
    1. Turn off iPad
    2. Turn on computer and launch iTune (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
    3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
    4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port. Do not release button until you see picture of iTune and plug (very important)
    5. Release Home button.
    ON COMPUTER
    6. iTune has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTune.
    7. Select "Restore iPad"...
    Note: Data will be lost

  • Ipad 2 stuck on apple logo and won't restore

Is there anyone that can help me, my son has an ipad 2 it worked fine, but all of a sudden apps started flickering and then went stuck on the apple logo, iv tried a hard reset and then eventually restored it several times via an iMac, but still stuck on  apple logo, does anyone know how to get it back working, or know how to fix it, thanks

Did you force it into recovery mode to restore it?

If you use Recovery Mode and had no success, them you should seek help at an Apple Store. Make an appointment at a Genius Bar and have the Apple Tech take a look at the iPad.

  • Ipad mini is stuck on Apple Logo, have shut down but still won't reboot

Ipad mini is stuck on Apple Logo.  Have done a forced shut down, but when it starts up again its back to the apple logo - its not moving either

    Hi Bonney Fam,
Thanks for contributing to the Apple Support Communities.
You mention that your iPad mini is stuck at the Apple logo after it shut down. If you haven't already, try resetting it again:
To reset, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.
    From:
Restart or reset your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
If the iPad still doesn't start up past the Apple logo, try this method to reinstall iOS:
If your device gets stuck during startup
When starting up, you might see the Apple logo or a red or blue screen for a long time, or your device might restart again. Try these steps:
Make sure that you have iTunes 12 or later on your computer.
Put your device in recovery mode.
When you get the option to restore or update, select Update. This will reinstall iOS without erasing your data.

    All the best,

  • IPad Cannot Restore to anything. Stuck at Apple Logo

I have an iPad 2 WiFi that hangs at the Apple logo. Whenever I try to restore or update I get the message I have tried the following:
"This device isn't elligible for the requested build"
    It has never been "jailbroken".
    1. Restoring or updating. Does not work. Same error message.
    2. Downloading every IPSW that i can get my hands on, and trying to restore with those. Does not work
    3. Editing the host file to block the Apple server. Does not work. Yes I flushed DNS, rebooted the computer, rewrote the host file, etc.
    4. I updated iTunes. To the very latest version. Does not restore.
    5. Tried to update to iOS 7. Does not work.
    6. I've put the iPad in Recovery mode, and DFU mode. Does not restore or update.
    7. Dones all the above on another Mac AND PC computers. Does not restore or update.
Absolutely nothing works. For a brief period I was able to see some of the files on the iPad. It showed the storage of the iPad to be all yellow, one big long bar. Not broken up into different types. I have not been able to get back to that point. I can reboot it, put it into either of the so-called restore modes, and it wil just stay at the Apple logo. After a while it will reboot itself. Anythign I try to do, regardless of the computer, I get the same message: "This device isn't elligible for the requested build"
What build have I got? Is there any way to find out? When I do get iTunes to recognize the iPad, which it will do in recovery and DFU mode, no serial number or version number is displayed.
    Any other ideas?
    Many thanks

  • My Imac won't boot up. It is stuck on apple logo with spinning gear.

My Imac won't boot up. It is stuck on apple logo with spinning gear. It will not boot in safe mode, my install disc will not read and fsck wont fix it.. I can hear the hard drive spinning. So i know my drive is not bad.. Right before this happened i was low on space so i deleted a bunch of movies but for some reason i had to change my drive permissions to do so..

Is your data backed up?  If not, see these means of data recovery: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-1689 If it is backed up, then purchase Alsoft Disk Warrior.  Boot it using the Option key of a wired Apple keyboard.

Hold the Sleep and Home button down for about 10 second until you see the Apple logo.

    Dear,
i got trouble with my ipad 3 global Ios 5.11... and somehow i accidently delete mu cydia since then i tried to restore it via itunes.. and when tried to update with ios 6 n finished, it stuck on apple logo and when i try to restore via itunes, it comes with the an error (21)..
please lets me know since im getting desperate...
    thanks

Your post indicates you have used Cydia, which is a software application for iOS that enables a user to find and install software packages on jailbroken iOS Apple devices. Since your iPad has been jailbroken,  we can't help you in this forum. Best bet is to Google for answers.
You may have "bricked" your iPad and now have an $$$ paper weight. Plus your Apple warranty has been voided and the Apple Genius Bar/Support will not help you.

my iPod touch stuck in apple logo.I try to recovered ,but after recovery start  error message comes and says try later.what should i do ?

    Try:
    - Powering off and then back on your router.
    - iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
    - Change the DNS to either Google's or Open DNS servers
    Public DNS — Google Developers
    OpenDNS IP Addresses
    - For one user uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes resolved the problem
    - Try on another computer/network
      - Wait if it is an Apple problem
