IPad won't connect to home wireless network

Got my iPad for Christmas and it has worked perfectly until tonight. Out of the blue it wasn't connected to my home wireless network. I reset the modem, powered the iPad off and on again, reset the network settings and reset all settings. No luck, it just keeps searching all of the laptops in the house work just fine ??

  • IPhone 5 won't connect to home wireless network

After updating to iOS 7 my iPhone 5 has been unable to connect to the wireless network in my home.  It will recognize it, ask me to input password, and then it will say it cannot connect.  I have shut the iPhone 5 on/off, turned on/off the wireless, turned on/off the bluetooth, and attempted to install the latest iOS update (but cannot because it won't let me unless I am connected to wifi).
I am having this problem with my MacBook Pro as well.

There is something wrong with your wireless router or network - especially if you have no problem connecting your iPhone and MPB with any other wi-fi network besides your own.
Have you tried resetting your wireless router and network in conjunction with the modem, and/or have you checked the manufacturer's website to see if there is a firmware update available for your wireless router model that has not been installed?
What type of encryption are you using with your wireless network - WEP, or WPA2?

  • Won't connect to a wireless network that it sees

My iPad (iOS 6.1.3) sees my wireless network extender but won't connect to it. Just started today. Any ideas or remedies? I've tried unlearning the network and relearning. I've also done a reset, etc. nothing works. As I said, it sees the network but when it tries to connect, the little wheels just spin. BTW, it DOES see and connect to the main wireless router network fine.
    Thanks for any ideas.

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • Touch won't connect to my wireless network

Sometimes my touch won't connect to my wireless network even though settings show it connected with good signal strength.  When I go to the main screen the signal strength icon (upper left) doesn't appear.  Any ideas?

    Try:
    - A reset. Nothing will be lost,
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
    - Powering off and then back on the router.
    - Reset Nework settings: Settings>General>Reser>Reset Network Settings

  • ATV2 won't connect to my wireless network.

My ATV2 won't connect to my wireless network, although the network shows up in the list of networks and I'm using the correct password.  A laptop approximately 1 foot away connects wirelessly to the network.  ATV has worked in the past - haven't tried it recently.  Tried reset - didn't help.  Any suggestions?

If your wireless router is setup to use WPA or WPA2 security then you need to make sure you match this within your Apple TV device.
You probably already know to match case sensitivity in your password.

  • Unable to connect to home wireless network with my iPod touch

I've had my iTouch for several months now and I'm still not able to connect to my wireless network at home. I've tried the resets and other suggestions I've found in the discussion groups but nothing has worked.
I have an older Netgear Router MR814v2 and it is unsecured. It is attached to my old desktop, HP Pavilion running Windows ME, which is not able to run the itunes software. My HP laptop is where my iTouch and iTunes software is installed.
The iTouch displays my network with good signal strength, but when I try to connect I get the "unable to join the network "NETGEAR".
Going to my router, it does not recognize my iTouch as an attached device. Why is that and what am I missing?
Thank you for all suggestions and your help.

I tried powering down the router. When it's off the iTouch does not recognize the network and then when it's powered on again, the iTouch recognizes the network. Unlike the public wi-fi spots that my iTouch responds to, where all the info like IP Address, Subnet Mask, Router, DNS etc are populated in the settings...my iTouch does not populate these fields at home even though it recognizes the network. I still get the unable to connect to network error. Could it be that my router is antiquated and can not support the iTouch? Like I said earlier, my Router does not recognize the iTouch as being attached to it.

  • Suddenly can't connect to home wireless network

All of a sudden I can't connect to my home wireless network - always has worked perfectly.  Now I get a box asking for the password, and although I type it in correctly it keeps saying "incorrect password."  I thought I'd delete it and re-establish it, but it doesn't show up in the Managed Network settings.  Any ideas what is going on?

On the problem computer, go to Control Panel > Printers and delete all instances of the printer.
Next, print a Wireless Network Test from the front of the printer (Network menu).  Note the printer's IP address.
    1. Make sure the printer is turned on and connected to your network. Verify that you can access the printer's internal web page by browsing to its IP address before continuing.
    2. Click >> Start >> Control panel >> Printers.
    3. Click the Add a printer
    4. Select Local printer
    5. Select Create a new port and select Standard TCP/IP Port and click Next button.
    6. Under Device type, select TCP/IP Device. Under Hostname or IP address, enter the printer's IP address. Click Next.
    7. Select Hewlett-Packard from the list of manufacturers and select and select your printer model. Click Next.
If your printer model was not listed, then select Have Disk, browse the HP CD that came with your printer and select the first file that starts with hp and ends with inf. Click Open then OK. Select your printer model. Click Next.
    8. If you are asked, use the currently installed driver.
    9. It will ask for the Printer name -- enter a new name or use the existing one. This will be the name of the printer that you select from other applications.
    10. You may be asked to share the printer. Choose NO.
    11. The Print Test Page box appears. Go ahead and print it.
    12. Click Finish.

  • IPhone GPS location incorrect when connected to home wireless network

    Hi all,
My iPhone GPS works well except when I am at home and connect to my wireless network. It always gives the same incorrect location about 3km away from my house. When I turn wireless off then the phone gives my correct location.
I think it is somehow getting confused when connecting to my airport. (I wonder if it is showing the location of the local telephone exchange?)
Has anyone else encountered this problem or found a solution? Or can I somehow tell my airport where it is?
    Thanks!

A company called Skyhook Wireless maps WiFi and cell tower locations it scans. Apple uses this to help your GPS locate itself quicker. Here's how it works: http://www.skyhookwireless.com/inaction/apple.php
If your WiFi has not been scanned properly, you can submit a WiFi location update by going here: http://www.skyhookwireless.com/howitworks/submit_ap.php

  • IPhone 5 won't connect to WPA2 wireless network

I just got a new iPhone 5 from AT&T and it will not connect to my AT&T home wireless network. I keep getting "unable to join network "SSIDNAME".  It has connected before but briefly before dropping the connection.  When it does connect, the access is extremely slow. I see a thread on this issue and hope there is a fix soon.

I've rebooted the AT&T supplied wireless router which helped with the connectivity issue but when I do get connected, the Safari browsing is painlessly slow and I can't seem to get the full bandwidth potential as I did with my old iPhone.  I'm returning my iPhone 5 to AT&T soon if this doesn't get resolved soon.

  • My iMac g5 won't connect to a wireless network

I just got a new hard drive- and now I can't connect to our wireless network- all our other items are connecting so its not the router- thoughts?

Hi, this has worked for a few...
Though all of these steps may or may not be needed, I'm including them all.
Make a New Location, Using network locations in Mac OS X ...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2712
    10.7 & 10.8…
System Preferences>Network, top of window>Locations>Edit Locations, little plus icon, give it a name.
    10.5.x/10.6.x/10.7.x instructions...
System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.
The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.
    10.4 instructions...
Is that Interface dragged to the top of Network>Show:>Network Port Configurations.
    If using Wifi/Airport...
Instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.
For 10.5/10.6/10.7/10.8, System Preferences>Network, unlock the lock if need be, highlight the Interface you use to connect to Internet, click on the advanced button, click on the DNS tab, click on the little plus icon, then add these numbers...
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
(There may be better or faster DNS numbers in your area, but these should be a good test).
    Click OK.

I tried going through the Wireless Network setup on my HP OfficeJet 6500A Plus machine. The printer recognizes the network and I then type in my network's password but it won't connect to the network. What can I do? I would like to be able to print and scan wirelessly. Help please!

  • Airport Card won't connect after changing wireless networks

    Hello,
I have a black macbook with an internal airport extreme wireless card. I use the computer at school and at home. Both school and home have functioning wireless networks in which other computers are connected and running with no problems.
When I open my laptop and wake it from sleep after changing from school to home or visa versa the airport card often will not recognize the wireless network. On many occations, even when the network is recognized it will not automatically connect to it (I have it set to do). A message saying "There was an error joining the network" comes up. The only resolution has been to reset the computer (which doesn't always work) or reset the PRAM.
Sometimes after reseting the PRAM the computer doesn't even recognize that I have an airport card installed at all. When this happens I have to reset the PRAM again to resolve it.
As a final note, when the computer doesn't automatically recognize the network and I click on the desktop wireless network icon, I get the "spinning beach ball" for a period of time before the drop down box with the available networks shows up. This seems strange to me because it shouldn't be a RAM issue as I have 2GB of ram installed on this computer.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Try the following:
    Delete Preferred Network(s)
    - System Preferences > Network > AirPort > Configure
    - In the "By default, join:" pull-down menu, select "Preferred networks"
    - Delete the network(s) you regularly use from the list
    Delete AirPort Keychain Entries
    - Launch the "Keychain Access" application located in Applications/Utilties.
    - Click on the "Kind" filter at the top, and look for any "AirPort network password" entries...and delete them.
    - Restart, or log out then back in.
    Add Preferred Network(s)
    - System Preferences > Network > AirPort > Configure
    - In the "By default, join:" pull-down menu, select "Preferred networks"
    - Add the preferred network(s) using the "+" button.
    - Restart or log out then back in.
If you haven't already, you may want to consider creating a network location for each (school & home) with the appropriate network settings required for connectivity at each. For each location, you can set the preferred network.

  • Hp CM1415fnw won't connect to my wireless network

I tried walking through the wireless setup wizard to fix the problem. I selected our wireless network and then it asked for the WPA passphrase. I put in the correct wireless password and it told me that it was invalid. I doulbe checked a million times!
The help button said it has to match the router's passphrase. I don't know what's going on.

It might be that someone hit forget this network, and your iPad has deleted the network settings.  Go into (If you haven't already tried this) settings, then network settings and see if it connects to the Router (sometimes the iPad connects but does get an IP address), if it doesn't try connecting it.  If that doesn't work call the Cisco or go to an Apple store and as them to help.
I'm sorry that this is all I can give you.
    Good Luck!

  • TS3274 my ipad won't connect to bose wireless speaker

My Bose wireless speaker worked fine connecting to my ipad but it won't connect now.  I get a message saying turn speaker on or move closer to ipad.  The speaker works fine with my iphone so I think it must be my ipad.  Ipad shows Bose speaker on my bluetooth but when I click on it, I get the message I previously mentioned.  Help?

    1. Hold Bluetooth button down for 3 seconds so that iPad can "see" the Soundlink (bluetooth light should fade in and out every second)
    2. Make sure it's within range
    3. Keep speaker away from router, cordless phone or microwave oven
    4. Keep it away from other Bluetooth device
    5. Make sure it's not muted
    6. Turn it off and on again
    7. Make sure volume is turned up
