Ipad won't receive email, but can send

My ipad has suddenly stopped receiving emails for my main account.   I can send emails ok.   Have checked the mail settings against my iPhone, which are the same.   Ipad is 8.1.2, iPhone is 7.1.   Tried rebooting, deleting and recreating email account.   Any ideas ?
Thanks
Rob

I am having the exact same issue.  No changes that I am aware of that would cause this.  even if Fetch were set, as soon as you swipe down on mail, it should load.  But it looks for mail and then shows nothing new.  At the bottom it states the last time mail was received (for me it was only a few hours ago).  Just like Mintok above, I have reset iPad, deleted and re added email acct.  I have 2 email accounts, both with Yahoo.  My other account works just fine.  My email also works just fine on my iPhone and computer.  It also works when I go through the internet to access the yahoo mail.  Just my iPad and just the one account and only with receiving emails).  I did change password just in case.  but it says it connects, it just won't download to that very specific email account.

I Can't receive emails but cand send. Just stopped working. I have checked all settings and also tried deleting account and re adding. Email account ok as works on my phone and laptop. What else could I try?

Go into the account again and look at the settings for the mail server. That is what receives the mail. Make sure that your username and password are entered everywhere, even where the phone states optional. I'm guessing that you are connected to Wi-Fi on the iPad at the time you are trying to get the mail?

  • Not receiving emails, but can send them on desktop; but can do both on iPhone.

Ok, I have spent since a day or so since the first of this month trying to solve this issue.  I use Hostgator, which shouldn't be an issue, but it seems to be. I have on my phone all my emails that are being hosted by hostgator set up as fetch, and it recieves my emails fine. My desktop though, can't.  It can see the servers, and send emails, but it can't do anything but.  It can't even download the emails I sent to myself, but when I go on web mail I can see them all.
My connection to the server is good:
But for some reason I can't recieve any emails from the IMAP server.
I put the computer is Safe Mode, and I could recieve the emails, but when I put it in normal mode, the emails don't download. I use Avast! Anti-Virus, I use SugarSync, I use Splashtop, And Free Memory Pro.
For web browsers, I use Crome, and Safari.
I use Apple Mail and Postbox, both can't recieve emails.
I can't imagine what is keeping my computer from downloading from the server.
    Can someone help please?

I have not seen that review before and the only thing I take issue with is
the authors of Clam AV for Mac, apparently do not understand these concepts. Both the admin and limited user can only scan files w/in "<user name>/documents". 99% of the files on a Mac are outside of "/users/<admin>,<other user>/documents. What good is a antivirus scan, that has no access?
There is only one author and I can assure you that he fully understands the permission issues involved. He is committed to follow Apple security guidelines in this matter which say that even an admin user should not be able to see files and folders belonging to other users without their explicit permission. I realize that there is a lot of software that ignore this rule, including virtually all other A-V software vendors, but I don't think he will ever budge on that subject. I'm sure this same limitation applies to any other A-V software downloaded from the AppStore.
ClamXav will scan any file or folder that the current user has read access to. For an admin user this is by far the majority of the files on the hard drive, not the 1% indicated by the reviewer. For a limited user, that would be reduced to only files that are owned by that user and any other files readable by "everybody".
I realize that it has widely been suggested that users not routinely operate with admin rights, but I'm guessing the number of users that are actually practicing that are minimal. Novice users won't see that guidance and most of those that do won't be able to figure out how to accomplish that. Experienced users may give it a try, but quickly get tired of switching back and forth to do their admin duties. To me one of those admin duties would be to run ClamXav periodically to pick up anything that may have slipped by, especially when there is more than one user using the computer. Each of those other users should also be using ClamXav to inspect their own files. Of course a limited use user can use an admin userid and password if they know it to do installations, etc., so it is possible to slip something by.
In the case of the web site version of ClamXav, a limited user can run Sentry to watch all of the entry points to the computer, including the download folder, e-mail and any external drives he has access to. That should detect any currently known malware, including Windows, before it becomes an issue.
Lastly, as far as I have been able to determine, all the ClamAV® signatures are for malware that would be readable to an admin user and most by a limited use user. It would be a waste of time to look into the unreadable portions of the System (mostly the Unix sub-system) since there is no currently known malware that would exist there.
What bothers me is that it won't look at files beyond ownership? I know it sounds odd, but I do deal with some form of internet esponage at times due to the type of company I am working on building.
Again, you will be able to examine any files readable by you, any group you belong to or "everybody" as long as they are enclosed in a directory (folder) that you can access. Here's an example of a full hard drive scan I did just the other day as a test:
    Scanned directories: 192387
    Scanned files: 914610
    Total errors: 692
The "errors" are almost certainly files I did not have read access to as an admin so I was able to scan 99.9% of the files I had access to.
Disk Utility tells me I have 1,150,506 files at the moment, so I scanned about 79.5% of them.

  • Exchange - Cannot receive emails but can send

Using Exchange 2007 - (CAS,Hub,Mail and Transport). I have all external mail coming in on http/s to webmail and outlook anywhere and port 25 smtp (mail.domain.com). Firewall NAT rule is External to Internal.
I then created a DMZ and now have webmail and outlook anywhere http/s going from External>>>>DMZ>>>Internal and it works fine. But when I changed smtp 25 to External>>>DMZ>>>Inside - I cannot receive any emails from
    external, I can send though.
I Only changed the way it is being routed, instead of going from External (mail.domain.com) to Internal (mail server). I have it going External (mail.domain.com)>>>(DMZ IP) >>>(Internal Mail server).
I didn't change any IPs or URLs or anything on the External or Internal and webmail and outlook anywhere are working fine through the DMZ.
I thought maybe it could be the external mail filter in the cloud that hits our external domain name but since I'm not touching anything external I don't see how that would matter.
    Any suggestions? Thanks!

    Hello, kenmac1960.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
The easiest way to troubleshoot this issue would be to delete the account and add it back to the iOS device.  Below, I have included two e-mail troubleshooting articles.  The first article covers basic email troubleshooting.  The second article will assist you if the email account you are experiencing issues with is a Gmail account.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

  • After installing the new Yosemite OS on my iMac I can no longer send email. I can receive email, but not send. I use gmail and can send email on the gmail (google) site, but not on "mail" on my iMac. Any others with this problem? What should we do?

After installing the new Yosemite OS on my iMac I can no longer send email. I can receive email, but not send. I use gmail and can send email on the gmail (google) site, but not on "mail" on my iMac. Any others with this problem? What should we do?

My gmail, which is correctly configured for Mail with gmail SMTP and Google IMAP, works for awhile on Mail, which I leave open while working on other applications. But several times a day I get msg from Google: "We recently blocked a sign-in attempt to your Google Account" . . . and requiring me to verify my account details, re-enter passwords, confirm security settings (or change them from "disable" to "enable less secure methods" and so on). In Mail I also have tried "taking all accounts online", and re-entering my gmail password inside Mail account settings. These steps successfully re-set comms between gmail and Mail ... for awhile, then it happens again. Enough occurrences over a work day that I just quit Mail and revert to accessing gmail directly. Apple Care advisor and an Apple knowledge base article say that Apple can't deal with this, as gmail is third-party app, and they refer me to gmail, and so far I've found nothing helpful there.
From today I also have several instances of a window saying "Mail has unexpectedly closed" and asking me to Re-open it.
I also use Yahoo mail, which stops working with Mac Mail at the same time as gmail, but I do not receive notices to re-verify from Yahoo.
I recently upgraded from Mavericks to Yosemite. The Mail problem happened occasionally with Mavericks but is far more frequent with Yosemite.

  • User can receive email but cannot send

    Hi,
I'm migrating a domain in an organization to another new domain. Now, we are migrating the workstations to the new domain. Users are not migrated, they are completely new in the new domain.
So, the problem is that we have a workstation in the new domain and the user from new domain logged on on this machine. The user has successfully configured is old exchange account in Outlook (Exchange server is still in the old domain) and can receive email,
    but cannot send.
Can someone help please to find what is wrong?

    Hi Silva,
    Thank you for your question.
Is there NDR when you send email?
Which way outlook connect Exchange 2013?
Where is email which was sent? “sent item” or “Draft”?
Which user mailbox use when you configure profile? New domain user or old domain user?
We could create a trust between new domain and old domain:
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc779840(WS.10).aspx
We could ping old domain successfully on the new domain.
If we have created mailbox for new domain user on old exchange, we could refer to the following link:
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa998031(v=exchg.150).aspx?f=255&mspperror=-2147217396
In addition, we suggest we migrate user and Exchange to new domain as soon as possible.
If there are any questions regarding this issue, please be free to let me know.
    Best Regard,
    Jim

We have a replacement imac that can receive emails but can't send any. We have spent hours with Apple and Optimum and the problem has yet to be resolved! Any ideas?

Please describe in detail what happens when you take all the applicable steps in the support article. That's the starting point for any further efforts to solve the problem.
