IPad won't restore and white writing?!?

Hello everyone hopefully someone can help me.
One day my iPad ran out of charge. So the next day I tried charging it up and white writing appeared on the screen now I have tried restoring it and it's stuck in loop I get error code 4013 but I know my ports on my mac and it's a legit lightning lead but then the white writing appears again! It has never been jail broken. Please help!

Sorry but I think you're gonna to need to visit your local Apple Store for help with this. Let us know how you get on and good luck.

Steve

  • My ipad won't restore and i keep getting error code -1

itunes indicated a problem with my ipad today and suggested restoring the ipad. THe ipad is now in receovery mode and is trying to be retored. While going through that process, it seems that it won't update more than 15% before stopping with the following dialog box popping up:
The IPad "IPad" could not be restored. An unknown error occured (-1). I have changed USB ports, rebooted my computer, turned off the IPad and the result is the same every time.

  • My 1st generation iPad won't restore

My first gen ipad won't restore. It won't turn on, it won't turn off, it won't show the apple logo when I try to put it in DFU mode, and it won't show the 'connect to itunes' symbol. Basically it won't do anything that all the trouble shooting tips suggest!
When I plug it into the mains via it's charging dock, it flashes the apple logo every 10 or 15 seconds, but when I plug it into the mac it only manages to flash very weakly every 5 seconds or so.
After many attempts, I managed to get itunes to recognise that there was 'an ipad in recovery mode' but every time I tried to restore it, I got the message 'unknown error 1602' and when I looked this up, it basically said it was the same as about 10 other error codes and that all I needed to do was change the USB port and/or restart itunes and/or the mac and it would all be good.
I did all of these things several times and in various permutations but to no avail.
I'm not 100% sure of the operating system on the ipad (and of course I can't check at the minute,) but I'm sure it's iOS 5. something! (I did update regularly, or when prompted by the system, but haven't done it in a while because my wife uses it now.)
My itunes is up to date - Version 11.0.1
    I know it's a long-shot but can anyone help?
    Thanks
    PK

I have a similar problem. But my iPad shows the connect iTunes screen and gives error 2001 when I try to restore it.
My iPad's battery was fine but I didn't use it for like 2 weeks. It's battery would've discharged and it turned off. When I tried to charge through wall socket, it got into the restart loop where it would show apple logo and turn off. So I did the simultaneous holding of Home and Sleep buttons for 10 seconds or more. It started showing connect to iTunes.
When I try to restore, the iTunes does the usual "extracting file" or something and go upto preparing for restore. But the iPad screen turns off from "connect to iTunes" and iTunes gives the error 2001, and the screen is back to connect to iTunes.
Also, if I don't plug in, the iPad seems dead, doesn't wake up or anything.

  • Refurbished ipad won't restore

refurbished ipad won't restore or start up.  Only have had it for 2 weeks.

If the above fails you can download a free programme called Recboot. Follow the simple instructions and it will kick you ipad out of the recovery mode and bring it back to normal. I jave just used it myself as mine was stuck in recovery mode due to a corrupt back up file.

How can I buy more icloud space when my ipad won't sync and has jammed.  I cannot press settings or close and cannot even turn off?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You might try a forced shutdown to begin with, hold down the top and home buttons together until the device shuts down, then restart it.

my ipad won't recharge and now there is no power to even reset it

Could be the charger, cable or iPad. Plug the USB cable into your computer. It may say "Not Charging", however, it is charging slowly and will verify that the cable is good.
Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. My Ipad needs to restore and my PowerPC with OSX 10.5.8 can't

That's correct. You need to upgrade the OS on your Mac if you can, or you need to use a Mac that is running 10.6.8 so that you can restore your iPad. There is no other way around it. You could make an appointment and an Apple Store and ask for their help, but you will not be able to backup your iPad so you will lose everything and have to start all over again.

  • IPad won't restore, Errors 9, 21 and 1611

My iPad boots into recovery mode but won't restore. On my windows 7  PC i get errors 9 and 21, on my XP machine i get error 1611. I have tried DFU mode, uninstalling all apple software then re installling it, a diffrent USB cable and a diffrent usb port. but still no luck :/. When i attemt to restore, on the iPad screen the progress bar shows for about a second then the screen goes black like it just powered off, however, it shouldn't since the battery holds a good charge. please help, i've been trying to fix this for hours now. Thank you

#9 is loss of USB connectivity, the other two are security software errors. Sounds like you may have third party security software that is not allowing iTunes to connect.

  • My Ipad 2 won't restore and I keep getting error 14

So today I decided to finally update my Ipad 2, it was 4.1.3 I believe and the newest update was 7.0.4 . After backing it up and waiting for the long update, suddenly it asked me to restore it. So when I try to restore it, my Ipad turns on and it will show the apple logo with the loading bar, right after that a message pops up in my computer saying that it cannot restore and there's error 14. I don't know how to fix this when I unplug it, it asks me to plug it to itunes since its in recovery mode but i keep getting error 14, help please.

  • IPad Won't Restore into new Update 3.2.2 And Can't Do Anything Now...

Ok so my problem is when i plugged my ipad to restore and update to the new firmware update 3.2.2, everything was going smoothly, untill i got a error numbered 1014, Please help me i have tried everything many times, im trying to restore it in my macbook aluminum 2009 edition. Please Help Me.

    Hi Everyone,
I too gave experienced this problem twice now (the first time with the upgrade to 3.2.1 then last night with the upgrade to 3.2.2). After reading this forum (& many, many others) & having tried nearly everything that everyone has suggested, it appears that several people had hinted at something that the majority of us have perhaps taken for granted.
It seems that if your iPad is not fully charged (& I REALLY mean FULLY charged), the chances of you falling into the never ending loop of the dreaded 'error 1014' occurring are increased! I seriously have nearly lost my mind & even after contacting Apple Care Support & spending over an hour on the phone (they were extremely helpful), we initially were unable to fix the problem & I was booked into my nearest Apple store for a repair/replacement.
After spending another 2 hours last night innocently attempting to update my iPad to 3.2.2, I saw that several people had recommended either disconnecting the iPad from the computer & plugging it into your Apple supplied power supply & letting it fully charge for several hours, or leaving it plugged into your computer (directly & not via a hub) & then try the whole process again.
Luckily, for me, this worked! I was not only relieved but absolutely astonished (& annoyed) that this was the only thing that worked for me! So my suggestion for those of you that may be experiencing this problem, give this a try. You have absolutely nothing to lose & hopefully you'll be able to update your iPad safely & correctly.
All the very best of luck

  • Ipad won't restore due to passcode being on

My iPad will not start past the apple logo, but when I try to restore the iPad, iTunes cannot connect because it is locked with a passcode. How do I get the passcode turned off when My iPad won't start up?

    Hello there, KatieLE.
The following Knowledge Base article offers some great information for resolving your issue:
iOS: Forgotten passcode or device disabled after entering wrong passcode
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1212
    Particularly:
If you have never synced your device with iTunes, or you do not have access to a computer
If you see one of following alerts, you need to erase the device:
"iTunes could not connect to the [device] because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter your passcode on the [device] before it can be used with iTunes."
"You haven't chosen to have [device] trust this computer"
If you have Find My iPhone enabled, you can use Remote Wipe to erase the contents of your device. If you have been using iCloud to back up, you may be able to restore the most recent backup to reset the passcode after the device has been erased.
Alternatively, place the device in recovery mode and restore it to erase the device:
Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to shut down.
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.
iTunes will alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then restore the device.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.
