Ipad won't turn off when closing new Brookstone leather cover after downloading os 7?

My ipad 3 won't turn off when the cover of the new Brookstone leather case is closed after downloading OS 7. Is there a setting I have not actuated?

A lot of forums I've read said to put it into dfu mode or "connect to iTunes" to restore b
You want it in recovery mode, not DFU, which is used for hacking or on already hacked phones

  • Ipad air wont  turn off when closing cover

my i pad air won t shutt off when closing the belkin cover i bought at sams, i put a 3m screen cover on i pad . noticed it covers small hole on bottom of i pad
could this be the reason closing cover doesn t turn off i pad

It most likely does not have the magnets in the correct locations so the iPad has no idea when you close the cover.

  • IPod classic won't turn off when plugged into a home theater dock; what's up? will it hurt to leave it on all the time?

I bought a new iPod Classic and it won't turn off when plugged into a home theater dock. Is this normal and will it hurt the iPod if i leave it on all the time?

    Hi there,
How old is your Classic? Often, after a couple of years, rechargable batteries begin to fail, especially after such a long period of inactivity. This happens with any gadget with this type of battery.
Try leaving it plugged in for 24 hours, and try again, to rule out that it isn't just really low on charge. If this doesn't help, it may be a good time to buy a replacement. New iPod Nanos and Touches will be released this October.
Below, I've linked to an Apple website which explains rechargable batteries, and why yours may not be working.

I hope this helps, and I hope upgrading your device will not feel like an unnecessary expense. Let me know if you have any more questions,
    Nathan

  • TS3274 my ipad won"t turn off. there is a small window with an email text in it and it appears frozen on the screen. How can i turn the ipad off?

my ipad won"t turn off. there is a small window with an email text in it and it appears frozen on the screen. How can i turn the ipad off?

Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps BEFORE doing the reset.

  • IPad won't turn off so I can reset it because my emails are locked.  I receive emails but can't access them, can't delete, can't send.

My iPad won't turn off so I can reset it.  My emails are locked but I receive emails as the number of emails increases.  I can't access these emails, I can't delete the one email showing, and I can't send an email.  The screen is locked.

    Try a reset:
    1. Hold the Sleep and Home button down (together)
    2. For about 10 seconds
    3. Until you see the Apple logo (very important)
    4. Ignore the red slider

  • N95 light won't turn off when slide open

I just find this, in rare occasions the backlight won't turn off and auto keylock not fuction(s/w) when the slide is open, but the phone is too shy to do it again after reboot, this is definitely a bug to me. It is a N95-1 with V21.0.016 f/w.

  • IPad won't turn off, returns to Connect to iTunes screen

My iPad constantly shows the Connect to iTunes screen. Okay, something's wrong, although I have no idea why . But I won't be near my computer for a few days. I'd like to turn off the iPad until I can, as it asks, Connect to iTunes. But the iPad2 with recently updated software won't turn off.
If I hold just the power button for 6 seconds, the screen goes black. Good, I think, it's turned off. Then 4 seconds later the Apple logo appears and then the iPad shows Connect to iTunes.
If I hold both the power and Home buttons for 10 seconds, the screen goes black and then immediately the Apple logo appears and returns to Connect to iTunes.
How can I get the iPad to turn off and stop burning that image into the screen? Do I just wait for the battery to die?

Got the same problem with my Ipad2.  Went do to the update late last night and it seems like the update quit half-way through the install.
Now all i get is the screen telling me to plug in the USB cable and connect to itunes.

  • How do I do "Find My iPad must be turned off-" when I cannot get past the iPad "Enter Passcode"?

I reset the passcode on the iMac, but I cannot retore the iPad because it wants the passcode entered. It does not recognize the passcode was set on the iMac and instead displays: "Find My iPad must be turned off before "<iPad name>" can be restored. Go to iCloud Settings on your iPad and turn off Find My iPad before restoring your iPad." I'm chasing my tail with this because I cannot get on the iPad iCloud Settings to turn off Find My iPad. I'm running iOS 7.1 and the iPad is backed up and synced to the iMac. What can I do?

    FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
    1. Turn off iPad
    2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
    3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
    4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
    5. Release Home button.
    ON COMPUTER
    6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
    7. Select "Restore iPad"...
    Note:
    1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
    2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.

  • IPod won't turn off when plugged into computer! PLZ HLP!

I have an iPod touch 2g, and now whenever I connect it to iTunes, it won't turn off. It will just turn itself back on.

If you are unable to give specifics about the problem or what you need to do, it's going to be rather hard to give you recommendations or alternate suggestions.
As I said, if I recall correctly, the iPod will stay on if it's being charged. But, in case I'm misremembering, are you holding down the button until you see the red arrow that says "Slide to power off"? Have you tried restoring it?

  • Screen not turning off when closing the lid

I have Windows 7 64-bit installed on my MacBook Air 13.3" as the only OS.
Everything is working great with the bootcamp drivers except that when I close the lid the screen does not turn off. I don't want to turn off the notebook but only want the screen to turn off when the lid is down. I have looked a lot for a solution and am not able to find anything which can solve this problem.
There is nothing in the power options that can be done. Bootcamp is supposed to recognize this by itself, but unfortunately it doesn't.
Does anyone know a work around for this?
    Thank you

That is correct. I have noticed the same thing. Windows 7 gives better battery life on MacBook Air then Mac OSX.
I went to talk to a Genius about this, pretty useless, told me to wait for an update. It has been half a year but no update yet. This is the only problem with the Bootcamp drivers I have experienced. I have managed to live with it, but is still pretty annoying. I always once in a while think about finding a way to fix it, but there is nothing that can fix this problem. Unless someone at Apple sees and listens to what is going on in the online fourms and fix the problem.

  • My iPad won't turn off. It won't turn on either. It keeps going from the apple to a black screen. What can I do?

I can't get it to turn off. It just keeps going back and forth from the apple to the blank screen.

You will probably need to restore using Recovery Mode. You use this method when the iPad is not being recognized in iTunes. This will totally erase the device, but if you restore on the computer that you normally sync with, you can restore from your backup when you are done - but only if you have a backup.
You can read about it here.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4097
Or you can follow these Recovery Mode Instructions
Disconnect the USB cable from the iPad, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off iPad: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for iPad to turn off.
If you cannot turn off iPad using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the iPad turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to iPad. When you reconnect the USB cable, iPad should power on.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears you can release the Home button.
If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the recovery mode alert that iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode.
    Use iTunes to restore iPad.

  • Ipad won't turn off or turn on.

I have an iPad 2 that will not turn off or turn on!  The screen is black with a white broken circle spinning around in the middle of the black screen.
I have tried shutting it down and turning it back on but it is frozen with the black screen.

    Mdmbutterfly-
First be sure there is enough juice in the battery.  Connect it to the wall charger for at least an hour to be sure.
Try holding down both the Home and Sleep buttons for several seconds.  Does an Apple logo eventually appear?  If so, the iPad should restart in a couple of minutes.
What happens when you connect the iPad to your computer and run iTunes?  Do you get an error message?  If not, does the iPad appear under Devices at the left side of the iTunes window?

  • Media keys won't turn off when computer shuts down

I've been experiencing a problem with the media keys on my P305-S8834 laptop running vista 64.  The computer will shut down completely, but the media key lights remain on.  They will go off when I start and shut down the computer a couple of times.  This problem is recent.  Up to about two weeks ago the shutdown was normal.  Appreciate any help with this.

Media key problems like that are sometimes solved by resetting the motherboard.
With the battery and AC adapter removed, close the Power switch for 30 seconds.
Re-attach those, press the Power button to turn the computer on, and then immediately press the F2 key while the Toshiba logo is displayed. Press F9 to restore the BIOS default settings, press F10, and then select Yes (Exit Saving Changes). The computer will restart.
