Ipad won't turn on after 4.2.1 upgrade

After I upgraded my Ipad to the new os 4.2.1 it won't turn on. Before upgrading we all know that you turn it on by clicking the on and off switch or pushing the belly button in the middle, but now nothing happens at all. I have found that if I hold both for 10 seconds or so it does boots up but this can't be the norm for everybody is it? Does anybody have a fix for this? Any help would be appreciated.

I posted the same thing on another thread. Everything else was working fine and the for sure I had lots of power.
But, and I know it makes me sound like a *******......., it's back working again.
I "think" I did the following.
At the home screen, I started the photo frame and that's when it worked. Not sure what triggered it.
This is totally bizarre as I had restored the entire system and it still wasn't working. Maybe something internal is a little "loose" but I doubt there's much that ain't solid state or hard wired in there.
I am absolutely dumbfounded by this. Last one to touch it was me, my son was playing the MX Mayhem, he went swimming and left the iPad on the sofa. I retrieved it, screwed around with it and nothing. Came back to the iMac and was searching the forums. Pressed the home button activated the photoframe (somewhat accidentally) and wham, it just worked.
Strange things are afoot at the circle K.
BTW, last app I added was SBS Tour de France Tracker if that caused anything.

  • Ipad won't turn on after trying to backup from ICloud

I need help getting my Ipad to turn on after trying to restore from an ICloud backup. My Ipad is up to date on software. I went back to factory setting and that worked. Then when I tried to restore from an ICloud backup, it started the process and somehow got frozen in the process. After a few hours, I pressed the button athe the top and the home button simultaneously and turned it off. When I turned it back on all that comes on is a black screen with an apple in the middle of the screen with a bar below it that is only about a quarter complete. Please help me.

It sounds like you need to restore your iPad and you will probably need recovery mode now.

You could try resetting the iPad one more time, but I don't think it is going to work.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • IPad won't turn on after restoring from backup

I restored my iPad 2 running iOS 6 from a backup I made this past Sunday (on iTunes 10.7 for Windows).  I left it alone and let it do it's thing.  When I came back my iPad 2 was off.  When I tried to turn it on, the Apple logo appeared for about 20 seconds and then it simply shut off.
I can't get my iPad 2 to turn on.  Any ideas?

  • IPad won't turn on after I tried to update it.

I've tried turning it off by holding down the lock button and the home button but when it turned back on, it was the same screen and iTunes won't recognise my iPad. Help please!

  • IPad won't turn on after battery died

I recently got a second-hand iPad 2 from a family member.  It was working fine until the battery died, and after charging for a moment, it will start turning on, but when it gets to the home screen, it only shows for a second before immediately turning off again.  I'm using a 1A charger and was wondering if that was the issue, or if there is something wrong with my iPad.

Try using the original charger and cable.

  • IPad won't turn on after update to ios7

After updating to ios7 on my iPad, it would keep resetting itself and show the apple logo until finally starting up.  Over a few days this got worse and worse and eventually stopped working where I would have to hold the home and on/off buttons to reset it.  I have now reached a point where it no longer starts up.  Having went to an apple store they say they can't identify the issue as they can't start it up and offered me to pay £199 to have it replaced (how very nice of them).  I have had online chats with an advisor and a senior advisor who have diagnosed this as a 'hardware' issue!!!
Guess what apple, no it is not, this is a result of the updgrade to ios7!!!  My iPad worked perfect before and I will not be paying £199 to replace it!!!
If anybody else has had similar problems please let me know.
    Thanks.

    Try this reset ...
Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
If that doesn't help, restore the iPad  >  Tunes: Restoring iOS software

  • IPad won't turn on, cvcles update bar and apple logo

    Hi guys
My iPad won't turn on after I tried to charge it last night.  What happens is I'll try and turn it on and it will go on to the Apple Logo, then the little bar will appear as if it is updating. The bar will get to about 2% of the way across, then the bar will disappear. Sometimes it will get to the lock screen for a brief moment before going straight back to the Apple Logo. This will just repeat persistently. I have tried holding the home button and lock button together, and all this does is get rid of the update bar, but the logo screen cycles. Any ideas on why this is happening and how to fix it?

  • My ipad won't turn on. Have tried to reset by pressing the two button at the same time. It work. Why is this happening? For the first time it happened to me after using the ipad 4 running on ios 7, for almost a year and a halftime

My ipad won't turn on. Tried to reset and it work. I'm using ipad 4 with ios 7 and this is the first time that this happened to me.what is wrong with the ipad?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Ipad 2 won't turn on after freezing and rebooting...

So this is what happened. I was playing "Lili" and halfway when I got to the second area after the begining of the game, the game started to act weird, the controls skipped and I couldn't control it well, so I pressed the home button and it froze. I tried to reboot the ipad and I did it by pressing the two buttons as only pressing the wake/sleep button did not work. It started up normaly but then I tried to play again, this time it did not pass from the first few images of the developer and it froze yet again. This time however when I pressed the reboot the apple icon showed very dimly then it disappeared followed by the battery empty icon, you'd think it would need to recharge but the thing is, the Ipad still had more than half battery when this happened. Do I have a brick? I tried charging it for more than 20 minutes but still nothing...

  • I updated to iOS 8.2 on iPad 2 my iPad won't turn on. What can I do?

After I updated my iPad 2 to iOS 8.2, my iPad won't turn on, it just stays on a loop where it shows the apple logo, does the screenshot effect then darkness. I tried connecting it to iTunes to reset it but my computer can't read it. What can I do?

    Hello David,
Thank you for contributing to the Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you're not able to use iMessage on your iPad. You've tried some good troubleshooting steps, and I'd recommend these additional steps:
Turn off iMessage and FaceTime and restart
Go to Settings > Messages and turn off iMessage.
Go to Settings > FaceTime and turn off FaceTime.
    Restart your device.
Turn iMessage and FaceTime back on.
Still not activated after an hour?
It might take a few minutes to activate iMessage and FaceTime. If you've waited more than an hour, try these steps:
Make sure that your device has the latest version of iOS.
If you're using an iPhone, contact your carrier to make sure that you can receive SMS messages.
    Contact Apple Support.

  • My ipad won't turn on.  i don't know why. i tried rebooting it but it didn't work. help.

my ipad won't turn on. i tried rebooting it but it didn't work. i don't know what happened. can anyone explain why happen to my unit?

When you say a reboot do you mean a reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds, after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot. Happened to me once, about 6 months ago, and a reset got it working again.
