IPAD WONT CHARGE , turn on or anything

hey guys , my ipad was working fine the other day and had 65% battery life remaining , and then i went to use it and it came up with the apple symbol. i plugged it in to the wall to charge and nothing happened so i left it all day. then i plugged it into the computer and still nothing. i have tried the master reboot and i have no idea what to do . any sujestions or steps i can do to get it to work ?

the first time i plugged it in after following the link nothing came up on the screen, but the reboot thing came up on the itunes . after it downloaded the new itunes and restored nothing happened. so i tried it again and nothing happened. is there anything else i can try

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Also, just noticed this now....i have it connected and its got no battery. It will shut off like it died (while connected to the laptop) and then after a few minuted it will turn on. with the battery icon saying "not charging"

Chances are your USB port is charging but only when the screen is off. This is e behaviour i get from our pcs.
Make a note of the battery level, plug it in and make sure the screen is off, after and hour check the battery level.
It should have charged a bit but very, VERY slowly.
Your computer port normally only delivers 500mha of power. Some modern macs deliver 1100mha. Anything less than 1000mha wont charge with the screen in.
The iPhone charge delivers 1000mha and the iPad charger delivers 2100mha.
So it not charging via the computer is normal.

It sounds like the iPhone is experiencing issues upon startup, and may not be loading the firmware or operating system correctly. If you have not already done so, try resetting the iPhone while connected to power:

Try giving it a reset. Hold down the sleep and home keys, past when you see the red power down slider and until you see the silver apple. Let it reboot and try again.
But if that charger works just fine with your other iPad and not this one, I'd call up your local apple store and make an appointment so they can look at it. Usually when an iPad wont' charge (when plugged into the wall with its supplied charger) it's
Bad outlet
bad power brick
bad cable
and if the charger is working with another iPad then that rules that out and the thing left is something wrong with the 30 pin port on the iPad, or perhaps something with the battery or software that monitors the battery. ANd things like that are beyond a user fix.
On the upside if the device is still under warranty - and barring any obvious signs of abuse or neglect - then it should be covered under the warranty.

First ensure you are using a 10 watt/2 amp charger if you are not using the one included with the iPad. Then I would try a new sync cable. You can then test the charger by connecting another USB based device such as an iPod or iPhone to it to see if it charges. If the iPad is completely dead it may require some charge time before it will become responsive. If the sync cable and charger work fine with other devices you iPad is probably defective and requires repair.

At 8 months you're still within the one-year warranty (even without extended AppleCare warranty).

I am very disappointed in the apparent build quality of these players, my fist one's screen stopped working and under the warranty I got a replacement - which is just stopped working completely for no apparent reason after less than 4 months! Useless, will certainly be looking elsewhere for my next mp3 player is this is deemed acceptable - for the features I can get a different brand cheaper than a repair!
