Ipad wont charge using the 10w charger

I am having problems with charging the Ipad.
I used the 10w charger that came with it but the Ipad doesnt show that it's charging.
I also cannot sync it to Itunes.
I tried resetting the Ipad already and connecting it to the USB port direct to the computer but it did not work
Any ideas?

When you connect the iPad to the charger does it beep? When you connect it to your computer does the iPad beep? Does iTunes see the iPad? Have you tried looking at the 30-pin end f the connector and the iPad receptacle for damage? Do you have another cable to try?
It could be that you have a bad cable.

Try a Reset of the Phone... You will Not Lose Any Data...
Turn the Phone Off... ( if it isn’t already )
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear and then Disappear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... (But can take Longer...)
    Release the Buttons...
    Turn the Phone On...

  • IPad WiFi 3G can't be charged using the 10W power adapter

    Hi,
My new iPad gives me Not charging sign when I use the 10W power adapter comes with, and even I can't connect it to iTunes in my Macbook Air, windows XP, or windows7 laptops. I tried everything apple support provided but again nothing.
    So, I'm open for suggestions.

I would try another charger and cable.
If that doesn't fix the problem, I'd take it back to the seller for replacement.

  • Just purchased an ipad, can I use the same charger as for my ipod touch?

I just purchased an Ipad2 and wonder if I can use the same charger for it as my Ipod touch uses?

I doubt it, as my ipod recharger doesn't seem to charge my iPad at all hence the (Not Charging) where the battery would be.
    Hope this helps

  • HT3215 I have been sent a nano 6th gen to replace my original 1st gen due to the battery problem.  There was no charger lead or instructions so i am unsure whether we can charger using the old charger?

charge a 6th gen as ive been sent this by apple with no instruction or leads etc?

Yes, your original USB cord will work perfectly. I treasure my 1st-Gen Shuffle cord, because it has a much easier-to-grip dock connector than the new ones.

  • Using the original charger, my ipad air says it is not certified and wont charge

using my original charger, my ipad air wont charge. it says the charger is not certified and may not work. it charges my iphone but wont work on the ipad

I've the same issue with my new Ipad Air and using the original charger.
It starts to charges then after a while it stops and issue the incompatible charger msg. Then I unplug and plug again and it starts charging again.
Know the trick thing is, I've exchange the chargers from my other IPad mini and none of the ipads gave any charging issue, they charged till full.
I see no logic on this.

  • Can you use the same charging cable for both an iPhone and an IPad or are they different?  When I use the charging cable for my iPhone on my Ipad, it doesn't charge.

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • Why does my 3rd gen ipad only charge with an iPhone charger and not the 10w charger it came with?

Im only asking this because it's annoying me , but my 3rd gem ipad will not charge with its 10w charger ? It will happily charge with my iPhone charger, and my iPhone will happily charge with the 10w charger but why won't the ipad charge with the charger it came with ? Any ideas ?

The cable for your 10W charger may be defective.

  • IPad 2 won't charge using its outlet charger.

I've had my iPad 2 for about 6 months now, and it recently just started this problem last night. I try to charge it using the official wall charger that came with it, but it doesn't charge it at all. It just beeps on and off as if I'm unplugging and replugging  the cable in (althought the cable is securely in and I'm not touching it). I connected different devices to the same charger (my cellphone that's not an iPhone, for example) and they charge just fine. But connecting my iPad to the charger and it completely goes nuts.
I should point out that I'm in Germany at the moment and the iPad is from the U.S. (where I'm usually located). But I've been to Germany with this same iPad, the same charger, and the same adaptor before (a month ago) and I had no problems last time. I also am able to slowly charge the iPad via USB connection to a friend's laptop (albeit very slowly). I just really want to know why my wall outlet charger will work with other devices, and the USB cable works from iPad to laptop (again, although very slowly), but together the two things wont charge my iPad and the iPad beeps on and off as if I'm unplugging and replugging it in. Someone please help!!!

  • My ipad won't charge with the wall charger

I have been able to charge my ipad and ipod using the wall charger. Now when I plug my ipad in, it won't charge. It also doesn't charge when plugged into the computer.

For some reason my iPad wont charge at all I'm using the same charger I use on my other iPad n it still won't work

Try giving it a reset. Hold down the sleep and home keys, past when you see the red power down slider and until you see the silver apple. Let it reboot and try again.
But  if that charger works just fine with your other iPad and not this one, I'd call up your local apple store and make an appointment so they can look at it. Usually when an iPad wont' charge (when plugged into the wall with its supplied charger) it's
    Bad outlet
    bad power brick
    bad cable
and if the charger is working with another iPad then that rules that out and the thing left is something wrong with the 30 pin port on the iPad, or perhaps something with the battery or software that monitors the battery. ANd things like that are beyond a user fix.
On the upside if the device is still under warranty - and barring any obvious signs of abuse or neglect - then it should be covered under the warranty.

  • My ipod will not charge from a wall socket but will charge using the same cable if the usb end is plugged into a computer or an airport power source. My iphone and ipad charge fine on the same cable usin ghte same wall plug in the same wall socket?

My ipod will not charge from a wall socket but will charge using the same cable if the usb end is plugged into a computer or directly into an airport power source. My iphone and ipad charge fine on the same cable using the same wall plug in the same wall socket. This makes no sense but I see that it has been posted as a problem elsewhere. This must be due to some kind of degredation of the Ipod. . It is not fixed by IOS resets as others have noted.
Has anyone asked Apple directly about this?

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Is it normal for someone to have general diffuculty charging an ipad?  I see the "not charging" message even when I am using the charger and cord that came in the original box, plugged into a wall socket directly.  It is normal for me to plug it in overnight and to see no charge whatsoever the next day.  I have never had so much trouble using a friggin charger in my life.  It just seems to be exceedingly finicky.  What am I missing?

Charging your iPad should not be problematic. It should be an easy thing to do using the charger provided with your iPad connected to a known good wall outlet.
The charging problem you are experiencing is most like caused by:
    1. A faulty charger
    2. A faulty cable
    3. A bad wall outlet
    4. A problem in the iPad.
The first three of these are easiest to eliminate. Try a for ends charger and cable. Make absolutely sure your outlet is good. Try other outlets.
If the charger, cable and outlet a proven to be good then the problem lies in the iPad.
Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.

  • Can I use the iphone charger to charge ipad

Can I safely use the iPhone charger to charge an iPad or iPad mini?  I realize that the iPhone charger will charge the iPad/iPad mini at a slower rate, but does it have the potential to overheat or burn out the iPhone charger?  I ask this because it is more convenient to take the iPhone charger on trips and a longer charge time is not a problem.

The only problem is the slow rate of charge. You would do better to carry the iPad charger and use it also for the phone. That is perfectly OK too.
