Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

  • TS1398 My iPad cannot  send mail - the connection to the outgoing server failed

My iPad cannot send mail - the connection to the outgoing server failed.

Go to the email settings, and re-enter your Outgoing Server username and password.
Have you changed that recently, perhaps on the Incoming Server but not on the Outgoing server?

Came here to complain about this maddening feature. Why it doesn't save the PDF out to a separate instance of the document is beyond me. PLENTY of us want to save the PDF without the layers, and want the PSD separate.
"Oh good, I've completed this document.... let me just save it out as a PDF for client delivery and... Now all the work is gone."
Genius, Adobe, genius. But it's cool--we'll just keep paying out the nose on a subscription basis with no fix for small errors like this.

  • Gmail pop account wont send mail

I set up a gmail account sucessfully, recieving mail was fine but when it came to sending i kept getting a message saying 'port 465 has been timed out'. I changed the port number a few different times to recommended ports but with no avail. I decided to delete this account and try setting up again as i may have done something wrong. I now can't recieve or send mail.
What is the correct port for a Gmail pop account?
Why has resetting it made things worse, as they ended up being the same setting as before?

I use port 25 with no problems for POP usage.
The only problem i have encountered is sending files over 5mb using POP, gmail rejects them. If I spilt it into two smaller files it is happy.
    No problem receiving big files.

  • HT4519 Email issue on my iPad with sending mail outside my Server area?

I have an iPad 1 and use Time Warner Roadrunner as my email server.  When I am outside Time Warner's server area, I can still access my email via WiFi but I am unable to send an email.  I get a message that my email account is not recognized on the server.  I can access www.rr.com direct thru Safari and send emails but it is much more difficult.  Is there a solution to this problem.

I have sucessfully set up email on my laptop, to receive and send emails using Outlook 2003.  II have recently been travelling, using a dongle for connection to the 3 mobile phone network.  Although I could still receive emails, I could not send any.  The test message (from the email set-up screen) said could not find the outgoing server and sending test message failed.  I had to revert to my blueyonder account (which I wish to close), which did work.  What do I need to do to resolve this problem?
Try changing the SMTP port from 25 to 587.  This should work when connected to both BT network and 3 network.

  • Ipod touch wont send mail

Error response is server won't allow relaying - what is that?

That means that the outgoing mail server for the account you are using to send is not working. It could be because of server problem or you have an incorrect setting in Settings>Mail>the account in question, When the account's server is not working, the iPod Mail app  tries to use the outgoing server for another mail account used on the iPod. That is called relaying. You can see the other accounts if you go to Settings>Mail>the account in question>tap on SMPT.
Many mail accounts do not allow relaying and hence the message you are getting.

  • My iPad wont send iMessage now that I downloaded iOS 6

I've tried everything from resetting the network to making a new apple id but now all my messages have been deleted and I'm getting frustrated, please help

If there are multiple apps trying to download at once, only one can download at a time and the rest say "Waiting" until it is then their turn. Try this. Double tap the icon of the Waiting app, and it should resume the download.
Another thing to try - Turn the iPad Off & then back ON.
    If that doesn't work:
    •  Log out of your iTunes store account.  Go to Settings > Store > Sign Out Then press the Home button.
    • Then press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously and don't release them when it brings up the Turn Off screen; keep holding them until the Apple logo appears.
    • After restart, the Waiting should be gone.

  • IPhone wont send email from a certain mail account

I know the settings are right, but the iPhone wont send mail from one of my mail accounts (hosted by the company i work for, which offers mail hosting as a service, and has hundreds of other iPhone users with the same account settings.)
The progress bar that indicates "sending" zips by suspiciously quickly when I hit Send, but there is no audio confirmation. Then the email is gone - its not in my Sent Items folder, and its not in the Drafts folder and its not in my broom closet.
From what I understand, if one SMTP server isn't available, it should default to the AT&T SMTP server, but it apparently doesn't even get that far, because the phone must think it's sent the message, or it would end up in the Drafts folder (or Outbox, I can't recall), which is what I would normally experience if I had no service at the time I was sending the message. I have two other accounts that work normally on the iPhone. Nothing has been recently changed with the SMTP server in question, which works fine with all my other devices.
    I've tried:
    • deleting the account and re-adding it manually (four times)
    • deleting the account and syncing it with my computer (three times)
    • hard resetting the iPhone
    • ensuring that the primary SMTP server for this account is, in fact, switched to "On" in Settings->Mail, Contacts, and Calendars, <mail account>-->SMTP (which brings me to another question: how do I edit this list? Is it automatically populated by the accounts in my Mail app?

    Ideas?
    Email Account type: IMAP
    Authentication type: MD5 with SSL
    Port: 587
    8GB 3G iPhone, Software version 2.2.1

    One thing that might help.
If your primary server is hosted by your company, double check the outgoing settings.
    Host Name:
    Use SSL:
    Authentication:
    Server Port:
If it zips through your primary server without effect, try turning the primary server off and one of the secondary on.
If connected to Edge or 3G, you can use ATT's SMTP server.
If issue still persists, then set up a gmail or yahoo account to test with.
    Both are free email services.
If still fails, then general troubleshooting might help.
Here are a couple of articles from the apple support website that might help out.

You might need to reset and or restore the iphone to resolve any software issues.
    Hope this helps.

  • Cannot send mail - server does not allow relaying

I keep getting a sporadic error message on my ipad: "cannot send mail. The recipient was rejected by the server because it does not allow relaying". Sometimes it doesn't happen and the mail sends fine. Sometimes I get the error message but the message then sends later. Sometimes it never sends.
    Can anyone help?

Hi, I've suddenly encountered this problem.  I have a 1st gen iPad.  I've reset, deleted, re-added, turned on both outgoing servers, added my password--this last doesn't stay in the primary outgoing server field; when I go back in, the password field is filled with the (optional) text again and when I 'click' into the authentication box, the password is no longer checked.  However, these are all filled in the secondary outgoing server, so it shouldn't matter.  Restarted the iPad a couple times.  Using system 5.1.1--I think that's as far as I can go.  Any miracles out there?

  • I cannot send mail, username or password are incorrect. This is however not. the case

How can i get. my iPad to send mail again? I get the message that username or password are incorrect, but that is not.

When does the message appear?  Is it when you are in the email client?  If so, go to Settings>icloud and be sure you are logged into the right icloud account.
Go to Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars - and in the Mail section, be sure your email account is defined.  If it is, try deleting it and setting it up again.

I had the same problem with my cable-hosted email when not at home. My solution (not free) was to subscribe to AuthSMTP
    http://www.authsmtp.com/index.html
We use it in our laptops and my iPhone so we have no connectivity issues when traveling away from home and not on our home network. There are other free solutions but I found this to be the most reliable of several I tried back in July 2007 when setting up my original iPhone.
