today I updated my iPad to ios5 but since then my iPad will not sync, it says an unknown error occurred. please help as I can not sync my music and apps. thanks in advance.

You did understand and yes you suppose to sign in with the same account, that you told me you checked and found the same. If you can't sign in, which is hard to imagine after your description and it gives you that message. That would really mean that no icloud account with your credentials have been created.
1. Lets try to get to that site again. www.icloud.com. Should be a black page with sign in fields. Once you sign in you should see 7 icons, one of them being your calendars.
2 Open those and follow previous directions.

Thanks Gail but ive tried that as well as logging oht and back into my accounts on my iphone and mac but I still get that message. I actually found a solution by unckecking my synced music playlist and clicking sync to remove it and then reclicked on my playlist to sync and it actually synced notmally and I got all of my new songs so I wanted to test it again so I clicked on sync again and the message once again popped up until I did the un-syncing and re-syncing again. I guess I will keep doing that in the future even though its annoying but its better than resetting my iphone.

Like the title says, my iPad wont sync to my computer but will sync to my bother's mac and my windows laptop.

First off, an iPad is designed to sync with only one computer. Syncing with a second computer erases everything synced from the first computer.
What exactly are you trying to accomplish? What happens when you try and what, if any, error messages do you receive? Do you have iTunes 11.1 or later on the computer you want to sync with?

I am having similar problems. I get a message that says "there is not enought space available" when in fact I have gigs of room on my ipad2. I spect all day at the apple store restoring and resyncing (thru a cloud back up) my ipad2. It works until I try to load up media (apps, photos, movies, tv shows, etc.). This on the heels of having done three earlier restores myself at home. What is going on?? I only mention this here, because I had the same problem after the icloud sync was introduced. However, reverting to a straight sync with the computer does not solve this problem wither.
As I type this I am in the process of having restored ipad and started it as a new one. i am going sectipn by section (app, tones, music, movie, etc) to see what will load. So far, I see to be encountering the problem when I try to sync photos. That seems to throw everything off. Could it be a corrupted file that does this...like a busted xmas tree light that knocks out the whole string of lights? Whatever it is, please please fix it apple. I need to be able to load movies and tv shows for the long upcoming holiday flights. Thanks. Hope this helps (all of us).

I get the message that this iPad is synced with another iTunes Library and cant sync to this one. Thankfully all my music library is on iPad. I would be grateful for some help on this issue

Hi,
I recently updated iTunes to 10.3.1. I then went to sync my iPad2 and it kept failing when syncing some audio books. Some error about disc not available I think.
This then made all the videos and music disappear from the iPad2 even though iTunes could still "see" it and the space was still taken. After searching for answers I kept trying to sync but the content never reappeared back on the iPad2.
I figured I would reset it so I did. iTunes then tried to restore it and that seemed ok, the Apps recopied but the content failed! To get a suceessful sync I turned off syncing of anything but Apps. This seemed to go ok but when it finished it told me that there had been 25 errors and pretty much all the Apps had failed to copy!
I can redownload them all over WiFi but now I'm worried that I'll not be able to copy ANY content to my iPad. I also will not sync my iPhone until it's the problems are resolved with th iPad.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Also some recently added photos were corrupted when synced to the iPad2...

All my content is on a mapped network drive (RAID-ed).
Up until now it's been fine. I've done a few quick tests to see if there's a problem and it all seems ok.
The message I get seems to imply it's the iPad2 that can't be found rather than the content...
Could it have picked up a memory issue...? Are there diagnostics to run on the device (iPad2) itself

Sync Interrupted - now iPad wont Sync

I was in the middle of syncing my iPad2 when I accidentally moved my harddrive that holds my iTunes library. Now it will not sync to iTunes. I have tried resetting the iPad and shutting down my PC. Nothing has worked.

Hi Gracie, You might try a "hard reset" which is holding down both the home key and the on/off button at the same time for about 10 seconds then wait for the apple to leave and then turn your iPad back on..here is what i found for you in the iPad user guide...
Disconnecting iPad from Your Computer
Unless iPad is syncing with your computer, you can disconnect it at any time.When iPad is syncing with your computer, the iPad Home screen shows "Sync in progress." If you disconnect iPad before it finishes syncing, some data might not transfer. When iPad finishes syncing, iTunes shows "iPad sync is complete."
Cancel a sync:
Drag the slider on iPad.

can't get ipad to sync photos, will do the first photo in a folder but the rest are not moved/copied. error comes up saying that the **.jpg format can not be displayed or supported on my ipad. took it to the apple store, they tried the re upload of ipad software, and itunes software to both the ipad and my laptop. even replace the ipad with a newer one, (mine was a wopping 3 days old) its a 64 gig 3G wifi, they said its prob. my laptop, i find this hard to belive, as the same laptop worked with my touch 32 gig less than a couple of weeks ago (lost it and replace it finally with the ipad) any ideas?

Hi - I'm having the exact same issue. Spent over 4 hours with Apple tech support on the phone, at the end the tech told me "oh, my supervisor just handed me a note that Apple knows this is an issue and is working on it. I guess I can't help you" and that was the end of the call.
My iPad is three weeks old, it sync'd photos no problem out of the box, then I let it upgrade the os to 4.2 in iTunes and then the photo sync error immediately started to appear, during the sync I get "1 of 1 copied" when in fact there are 200 photos to sync. So, Apple, what's going on? How do we fix this? I've done the following:
- un-install and re-install iTunes on laptop
- restore iPad to factory and start over
- delete iPod Photo Cache folder
- change security on same folder to remove "Read only"
Nothing works. HELP!!

Is the device being recognized in iTunes? Does iTunes "see" the iPad? If iTunes sees the iPad - I agree with the above post but take it a bit further, quit iTunes, restart your computer, restart the iPad and then try again.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

If you have it on CDs or another location, such as an external drive, import it into iTunes. If it was downloaded from the iTunes Store, fill out and submit this form or purchase the music again.
