IPAD2 and IOS 8

I like many others on this site, have noted that their IPAD 2 has basically become unusable with IOS 8. Each new upgrade on IOS 8 has made it worse. The latest 8.1 has now slowed the IPAD 2 down to the point where there only use are as boat anchors. I went to the Genius Bar this weekend and they turned off all the possible memory suckers and it did not help. I did a complete erase and reset and it did not help. If apple did not test the new IOS 8 on their older products it was certainly poor planning. If they did test and released it anyway without a warning that it should not not to be used on their older products, then it was Apple basically sending out a virus to disable all their old products so people would have to buy newer ones. If Apple doesn't fix this or put IOS 7 back up for use on their older products, I think a class action suite is in order. They had either intentionally or unintentionally disabled all their older products.

iOS8 - 8.02 are complete crap on the IPad 2 and IPad 3 for my family. Definiitely worse on the iPad2 but also bad on the iPad3. Clearly there is a huge power processing overhead required in comparison to iOS7. I am trying 8.1 on my iPad 3 to see if it reduces the crashes but I also wish I could go back even though I like the IOS8 new features. The iPad2 and 3 are basically too slow to be enjoyable on IOS8 even if crashes get fixed.. For that matter upgrading my deskdop to Mavericks slowed things down a lot. It's all feeling like MS Vista when it came out. I'm done upgrading Apple OS.
Apple has been pretty trustworthy in the past overall. Apple should have warned users like I think they have for older iPhones not to "upgrade" to iOS8.
Apple, Please redistribute and enable iOS 7.12 to earlier iPad owners without going thru all the complexities to do so.

I was so happy with my iPad2 (and iOS 7 software!)... The new firmware (iOS 8.1) fixed the WiFi connections problems (unexpected shotdown). Now there are lots of other problems with the keyboard: for example in the vertical mode I can't use some letters/functions (like "A", backspace, ecc.), in the orizontal one I can't use others... I'm spending my time on the iPad2 rotating the device. Do you have any answer? Thanks!

Hi The best solution is to Reset back to Factory Settings this will get rid of any bugs And make ipad run better. A good buy now is iPad Air 1 that came out last Christmas was £479 now £359 for 32G Cheers Brian

On your iPhone, try toggling Find My iPhone off, then back on after a few seconds.

Prior to updating to iOs 6.3.1 my system worked perfectly.

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.

Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).

iOS 6 did not change your passcode.
If you have forgotten the passcode then you will need to restore your iPad from the same computer that you most recently synced to.

My Ipad2 (and the Iphone 3Gs of my wife) is stuck after trying updating my devic with iOS 5.
Error 3200 occured and then the screen only shows the usb plug to Itunes, and that's it !!
Any idea please ?

Well, after attempting every kind of tips seen on the web, I tried this one to exit recovery mode : stop then start "Apple device service" on Win7 64 bit, change the usb plug where my devices were linked.
And, I don't know why, Itunes recognized again both Ipad2 and Iphone 3Gs, said 'hey your devices are in recovery mode !' ,and proposed to backup and update them. After long minutes waiting, both devices were upgraded with iOS 5 and then sync to put my apps on them.
Thankfully everything now works properly, but It has been long hours of trouble and frustration...

Have you tried resetting network settings, then unplugging modem and router from power for 40 seconds then plugging back in letting the lights stabilize and Then recconecting with the ipod>?

Is this happening with one particular network or with all? Make sure iOS is updated on the device.
Try this:
Reboot ipad by pressing and holding both the home and sleep/wake buttons at the same time until the apple logo appears on the screen, then let go. Then try to connect to network.
Go to settings, Toggle airplane mode on/off. Make sure bluetooth is off. Turn on wif (airplane mode off). Try to connect.
Reset Network Settings
Go to settings/general/reset/reset network settings. Then try to connect to network.
If its your home router, then reboot router by unplugging for 5-10min. (do this while you're resetting network settings).
If problem persists, then check for firmware updates on your router.(you check router manufacturer support website for downloads and instructions).

Although this isn't currently possible in the iOS Calendar app, go to iCloud.com (not on your iPad, but on a computer browser like Safari or Firefox) and log in. There, you can add an event in Calendar and have the options to make it repeat however you want.

Try downloading any free app from the store (as that appears to reset something) and then re-try them - the free app can then be deleted.
