IPad2 and VGA/Video Mirroring...
I'm a teacher with a VGA projector in my classroom. I really want to get an iPad2, but I've been holding out until I could justify the purchase by using it in class (Maps, Safari, Keynote, Pages, using the cameras to record video of the kid's projects, etc).
I've been reading a lot of vague information about video mirroring, I realize that the HDMI adaptor will mirror my brand spanking new iPad to an HDTV, but that's worthless to me in the classroom. I've read a lot of people who think that video mirroring will work with the VGA adaptor and an iPad2. Can anyone definitively tell me that iPad2 and iOS4.3 will support video mirroring with the VGA adaptor so that I can use it with my classroom's projector?
Please let the answer be yes, that would be awesome. If not... Can anyone think of a workable solution? HDMI adaptor --> HDMI Cable --> HDMI to VGA adaptor --> VGA cable?
Thanks.
Scroll down the page to Apple VGA Adapter. http://www.apple.com/ipad/accessories/
It says, "Share what’s on your iPad screen with an even larger audience by connecting your iPad to a TV, monitor, projector, or LCD display that uses a VGA connector." That's full mirroring.
This is a new description for the VGA Adapter, the old description is available if you click through to "buy now". The adapter appears to be the same, I think the difference will be iOS4 software that allows full mirroring.

IOS 5 and VGA/Video Mirroring
Since updating to IOS 5, suddenly my IPad won't work with a projector any more. When hooking it up, it now says "IPad doesn't support this accessory." Does anyone know of a problem with this in IOS 5? It was working fine until I did the update.
Same problem: we have 2 iPads: the one iPad 2 with version 4.3.5 is working fine, with the AV cable connector on it mirrors the iPad 2 perfectly. The TV out settings are displayed under Video.
However with my other iPad 2, version 5.0.1, the latest, it's now impossible to use the mirroring feature, the same AV cable, connected to the same TV or monitor is not even detected by the iPad. The TV out settings are no longer in the Video settings (now replaced by the Home Sharing Id, you really wonder why...). I need the mirroring function back as I'm using my iPad for work to do presentations and the external monitors, TV or projectors won't detect it at all..and of course the expensive AV cable is now useless..
I've tried looking for the TV out settings under the General Settings as recommended by other people on the forum but they don't appear even when the AV cable adapter is connected.
I really hope it's a bug and that Apple is going to fix it ASAP! -
I LOST THE PICTURE I TOOK WITH MY IPAD2 AND MY VIDEOS, ALSO MY SAFE NOTES, WHERE CAN I FIND THEM????
Had you reset your iPad or just done anything else when you found that they were missing ? If they were on the iPad when you last synced/backed up via your computer's iTunes then you could try restoring to that back up and see if that restores them to your iPad. Also for Notes you could check to see if they are stored on any of the email accounts that you've got on the iPad - try logging into the accounts via a browser and see if any have a Notes folder underneath them.

I have an iPad 2 that I want to use with video mirroring to give lectures with. I bought a VGA Adapter for the iPad, iPhone, and iPod as I want to be able to connect with any TV, monitor or projector for lectures, not just an HD device.. After plugging in my iPad to the VGA adapter and then to the video device, it appears that there is no connection with the iPad. Anybody have any thoughts?
Thanks, SteveThis article outlines how to use the Apple AV adapter or VGA Adapter to connect your iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPad, or iPod touch (4th generation) to an external TV, projector, or display. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4108
This explains how to set up AirPlay Mirroring, and how to troubleshoot AirPlay Mirroring issues that may occur between your iPhone, iPad and Apple TV (2nd generation). http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4085 -

When I connect my Ipad2 to my tv using the HDMI cord for video mirroring, nothing happens! I've tried it with new and different types of tv's, what gives?
Do you have the correct input set on the TV, like HDMI 1, HDMI 2, etc?

Video mirroring of Ipad2 using component cable only displays videos but not home screen
I watched videos online that show that I should be able to view my ipad2 home screen and apps while I'm video mirroring on my television but I can't see anything (only hear the audio) except when I play videos or watch youtube and use apps that have the TV Out function...Is there anyway to fix it?
I mean I can only view videos that I play on my TV from my Ipad2 but other than that I can't see my Ipad home screen on TV or any other apps that I open, though I can hear the audio. I'm using a component cable. I thought that I should be able to view my home screen etc with the cable?

Does airplay mirror only work with the ipad2 and not ipad1
does airplay mirror only work with the ipad2 and not ipad1
But can it still stream video wirelessly?
For example, with the Digital AV Adapter I can watch video on my TV, but obviously it's wired.
I'd like a wireless option. -
Will ios 5 enable video mirroring of photos through the vga adaptor on ipad 1
Will ios 5 enable video mirroring of photos through the vga adaptor on ipad 1?
"the graphics hardware in the iPad 1 doesn't provide proper support for mirroring the screen."
Actually it does. I JB'd my iPad for the sole purpose of VGA mirroring and it works GREAT, but I'd rather not have to JB with ios 5. It obviously works, Apple sells a VGA adapter. What is the big problem with making this happen.

I have been using my ipad2 to show video on my flatscreen using the Apple TV. Recently I find that once I use Apple TV I cannot switch back to the ipad for viewing even if I go back to the little rectangular screen and change the checkmark to ipad. Once this happens all my videos will only play through apple tv. If I shut down the ipad and restart it I come up in the ipad mode and can view it on the pad.
Welcome to the Apple Community.
Not really sure on this one, but one thought I have is how full is your iPad. Have you connected your iPad to iTunes recently. -
Just upgrade my MacBook Pro Mid 2010 to Mountain Lion and tried to connect with Apple TV 3th gen. through Airplay and couldn't mirrorring video on my LG Smart TV screen.
Just paid US 99.00 for Apple TV plus US 19.99 to Mountain Lion for nothing @?$%& !!!!
Back again to mini display to hdmi cable.
could you help me????It is stated that mirroring requires recent hardware (2011 or later)

However you can still use 3rd party solutions like Airparrot which do it via software -
Attaching VGA video adapter and Firewire device
I'm using the VGA video adapter to attach my brand new Mac mini to a VGA screen. As the space between video port and Firewire port is too narrow with the VGA video adapter attached I can't connect any Firewire cable!
Anyone who knows how to connect VGA video adapter and Firewire device at the same time? The DVI-VGA adapter I got with my last mini was barely wider than the video port on the back of the mini and since a firewire connector is also barely wider than the FW port itself, there was no problem connecting to both at the same time, with a small but distinct space between. Indeed, it's about the same space as between the adapter and a cable plugged into the nearest of the USB ports on the other side.
If you're having problems, you might find that connecting the firewire cable first might help, but otherwise either the adapter or the connector on your firewire cable is non-standard. If you still can't connect both, take the mini, along with your firewire cable and the DVI-VGA adapter to an Apple store and ask them to try. -
Hello. I have an iPad2, and iMovie software. My main problem, for the moment, is the length of the videos: I can´t create a video with more than 56 seconds. When I try, the app shuts off... Can anyone help me?
Sorry. We can't help you. It's no longer an iPhone. Apple won't touch it.
Take it to whoever replaced the screen and see if they can help you.
iPhones are not user servicable and Apple does not sell iPhone parts at all. I'd be surprised if you were actually able to back it up at this point. It sounds like it's completely borked. -
VGA-cable to connect iPad2 and beamer
iPad2 with Keynote is a wonderful tool for presentations using a beamer.
Who can give advise which 15-pin VGA-VGA cable best to use to connect iPad2 and beamer over 10 to 20 meters?
Does the high performance cable SVGA-SVGA work:
- Max. res.: 1920 x 1080p
- SVGA 15-pin Male to Male
- 2x ferrietkern
- AWG 28
Thanks for your help.
Eric SessinkAs of now apple has stopped this. We can all give a feedback for this to apple so that after getting a huge amount of feedback about this they may rethink once to implement it back.

Preferences not opening after asking for restart
As we all know, when using 3rd party preferences panes the preferences asks you to restart (I think to go into 32/63-bit mode) But when I press ok, it quits then doesn't open again, It's extremely annoying and cripples my productivity and use of this
