  • 7.01 & videos downloaded from iTunes

I had to go back down from 7.04 to 7.01 in order to import footage to FCE. So, does that mean I can't watch videos purchased from iTunes? I tried watching videos - I can see the video but can't hear the sound. Is this a case of damned if you do and damned if you don't?

this is creepy - I have 7.04 on the G5, which is running 10.3.9 and I can hear the audio when I play video downloaded from iTunes but can't see anything. when I boot to the external hard drive, which is running 10.4.5, I don't get anything at all.

  • Burning video downloaded from ITunes

is there a way to change the format of downloaded 'Shows' (not music) from ITunes (ex: 'The Office') to be able to save them in, and burn them w/ IDVD instead of ITunes? I want to be able to play the video downloaded from 'ITunes' in a regular DVD player. As it stands now, you can only playback these episodes on your Mac or an IPod... Any help is greatly appreciated!

I don't believe there is a way of changing the Format. But there is an accessory
that you can get in the Apple Store(you can access that from the home page)
that will allow you to connect your iPod directly to your TV and play everything from it on your TV. RCA patch cords for sound and S-Video that will adapt from
    your iPod to the TV.

  • Repeating problems (1) Many Missing Files; and (2) Downloading From iTunes

I am having multiple issues with the iTunes store currently. I have spoken with an Apple Expert on August 14, 2010 (case number available if needed). Although he was very good at helping me to the best of his ability, he referred me to iTunes Store Customer Service, which I previously was in contact with.
I have 2 types of repeating problems (1) Many Missing Files; and (2) Downloading From iTunes Store.
_Problem One - (1) Downloading From iTunes Store_
I have 1610 missing files from my iTunes folders. I created a list of missing items by following these steps:
+If for any reason you find yourself with random missing tracks, (or are trying to recover from a dying hard drive like me), there is an easy way to isolate those missing tracks.+
+1. Create a standard playlist called "Not Missing".+
+2. Drag your entire library into that playlist. Missing tracks cannot+
    +be copied to a playlist.+
+3. Create a smart playlist called where you select the following conditions in the options window for the new smart playlist:+
    +*dropdown menu* PLAYLIST+
    +*dropdown menu* IS NOT+
    +*dropdown menu* NOT MISSING.+
+4. Rename the smart playlist "Missing"+
+5. Right Click the "Missing" playlist+
    +6. Click the "Export..." option+
+7. Select the Plain Text option and Desktop location+
My missing playlistable items represent a better part of a decades worth of audiobook files, transfered files from my PC days, etc... i loved my - now missing - Doctor Who and Torchwood purchases from iTunes.
I have already read the Trouble Shooting, checked Time Machine Backup, and been walked through replacing the preferences list. The missing file path from the "get info" options in iTunes points towards a non-existant file.
_Problem Two (2) Downloading From iTunes Store_
I have had problems downloading files from iTunes for months. I first noticed it with the TV Show "Avatar: The Last Airbender". Lately, when I download from the (non-music) part of the store, the majority of files are downloaded and then immediately not found. This has been prompting iTunes to repeat the download. Until I force quit itunes and *potentially cry*.
There have been multiple iTunes store purchases of audio books recently. If I reported the missing file immediately, I can contact iTunes support to repost the file and that usually fixes the issue. But today, I went to go rewatch "Torchwood: Children of Earth" and noticed Problem One.
    _Hind Sight_
If provided with a spreadsheet of my iTunes Store purchase history, I can write a vlookup( formula in excel to compare the list against my exported missing list so a shortlist of what is missing from just my iTunes Store purchase history can be created (hint: it's the majority of items from the list, others are years worth of files from my PC days). If we could do that, could iTunes make my missing purchases available?
Then we can focus on purely, trying to figure out why they went missing in the first place - so we can prevent it again & possibly help others from running into the same.
    Plea
I strongly suspect the two issues are related to a root cause ... in addition to my user error in file management of backups ... what is going on?

iTunes Support (Eric) emailed me some instructions. I am posting, in hopes that this will help others.

  • HT2729 Why won't certain videos (downloaded from iTunes) sync on my iPod?

I have a new iPod Classic and it won't sync some of my videos. I've reset it. I've got everything checked. All files and videos play in my library. There all in the same location and files. Its  After syncing I get the "some videos were not synced because the format is not supported". All the vids were downloaded from iTunes Store. WTH? Can anyone think of a solution? What is wrong?
    Thanks,
    WB

    Hey Willm700,
Great question. iTunes defaults to downloading HD content when available, whereas your iPod classic is not compatible with HD playback. The solution would be to download the SD version of the content from your purchase history:
iTunes: Sync purchased HD videos to iPod or iOS device
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4223
The easiest way to put purchased videos onto your device is to download the videos from iTunes in the Cloud. This should make sure that you get the highest resolution video optimized for your specific device.
Syncing video to iPhone 3G or earlier, iPod touch (1st or 2nd generation), iPod classic, iPod 5th generation, or iPod nano (3rd, 4th, or 5th generation):

  • Can't find music videos downloaded from iTunes on my iPod

Any ideas as to why I can't find the music videos I've downloaded from iTunes on my iPod?

I am currently using iTunes 7.5. I've made some music video on my own, I have converted the .dv format into .mp4 format. I first import the .mp4 files into the Movie library. But I cannot put these clips in the music video playlist the clips in the movie library. I then tried to import these clips again to the Music library. Nothing happened. I tried to copy the clips from the movie library and paste to the Music library, I could do the cut, but when I selected the music library, the paste command was gray out.
    What did I do wrong?

  • Very slow video downloading from iTunes

I have a FIOS 75Mbit connection (and get can 75Mbit on my N-router and Macbook Pro's WIFI).  But my new 1080p Apple TV is another matter. Two minute trailers take longer than 2 minutes to download. Half hour HD TV shows can take 90 minutes to download! And if I try to watch a movie I rented, Apple TV tells me it'll be ready to watch in "about 5 hours".
So my immediate reaction is ***. Any ideas why my wireless performance is so great with my MBP and so terrible with my AppleTV (just 10 feet away)

I stumbled across this thread looking for help with the same issue...slow to very slow movie downloads from iTunes.
Changing the DNS, both on my iMac as well as my Airport Extreme router helped.
I'm on Comcast and generally get around 33Mbps downloads via speedtest.net.  Based on several Namebench tests Google's Public DNS (8.8.8.8) has always been on top and I've always configured my router and Macs using the top 3 Namebench recommendations with Google at #1 position.  However while downloading movies from iTunes Activity Monitor showed very sharp "Data received/sec" rises and falls...anywhere from 4.40MB/sec to 100KB/sec or sometimes zero.  Most of the time it would start off well, but trail off to very poor and sporatic speeds after about 30 seconds.
Per finaleMile's and other's recommendations elsewhere I removed Google Public DNS from the settings on my router and iMac and things improved with respect to stability.  Although the "top speed" of about 4.40Mbps didn't improve, downloads did smooth out and remain between about 2.30Mbps to 4.10Mbps during the entire download.  Not speedy but a marked improvement in stability and overall download time.
    Thanks for the tip!
BTW, I've found that during regular web surfing, using Google's Public DNS is faster so I re-add it after downloading movies from iTunes.  It's a bit of a PIA, but worth it.  Wish there were a better option though.
FWIW I tend to download rented and purchased movies to iTunes on my iMac and then play them back via my Apple TV3 rather than "stream" them directly from iTunes.  That way if there are external network problems they won't have a negative impact on our viewing experience.

  • How is it possible to cancel (not suspend) a video download from iTunes Store (iPad under iOs 6)? (I do not have sufficient storage space on my iPad)

    Hi,
I am facing the following difficulty with my iPad (model MD369NF/A) under iOs 6.1.3.
I have bought 2 videos on iTunes Store, but I do not succeed in downloading them: an error message mentions that iPas does not have enough storage capacity.
As a matter of face, when I look at the way the storage is used, I find “Others” for around 10 Go (is there some king of reserved space for the downloading of videos from iTunes Store?), and only a very small number of Mo available.
I would simply like to cancel the downloading of the 2 videos, and hope that it would free the "Others" storage space (in the hypothesis that "Others" is space reserved for videos once downloaded), but I do not manage to do it. I can suspend the downloading, but I do not see how to cancel it.
Would you have a solution to propose ?
Thanks in advance for your help,
    Nicolas

    Hey Nicolas36,
Thanks for the question, and welcome to Apple Support Communities.
The following article outlines issues with free space, capacity, and a large amount of "other" space. You'll want to connect your iPad to your computer with iTunes to follow the steps:
iOS: 'Not enough free space' alert when trying to sync
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1503
One symptom of this issue will be displayed in iTunes where the Capacity indicator for the iOS device will report a large amount of "Other" disk usage for the device. To resolve this issue:
    - Turn off the music or photo sync option in iTunes for the device.
    - Click Apply to sync the changes to the device.
    - Turn the music and photo sync options for the device on again.
    - Click Apply again to try to sync the device to iTunes.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • TV Videos downloaded from iTunes ~ Nothing?

Downloaded a 22 min TV Video from iTunes to my Brand NEW iPod (30 gig).
The TV Video is in my Library on iTunes and it "acted" as if it downloaded to my iPod, but it is not shown.
    * I did try to do the trick that was meantioned here before about moving to the TV Video to Movies, BUT...
The option is not available to do this. The pulldown menu is "Ghosted" and I cannot click on this Option.
Am I totally out of luck here?
Is there another trick to do to view a TV Video?
Why is there not a TV Video on the playlist on the iPod?
Hello APPLE? Is there anybody home?
    Thanks

We are not Apple employees. Does the video play in ITunes? The menu is ghosted because because you have your music set to manual update. Drag the video over to the IPOD icon in the left and "Drop It". See if it transfers then. It should show up in the IPODs TV Shows Menu. Let us know if that works.

  • Exporting video downloaded from itunes

I've downloaded a couple shows from the itunes store and wanted to export them using QT Pro to another format. But when i open the movie the export command is greyed out and cannot be selected. I've tried this with a few different itunes video downloads and get the same greyed out export command. any ideas?
    thx

Thanks Kirk. Was just curious to see if i could shrink the video files down so they wouldn't take up so much space on my ipod.

  • Can't transfer video download from itunes to ipod

I downloaded a m4v file from itunes I cannot view video in itunes and cannot transfer file to my 5th gen ipod. When I update my ipod it tell me it won't transfer the file 'because it cannot be played on this ipod' but no problems with transfering music.
Just want to know if this is fault of mine or Apples and what I can do to rectify it.
    Any help is appreciated.

Don't know if this will help, first off did iTunes Bill you for the download? If not try going to the Store tab in iTunes and check for purchases! possibly the file did not completly download or was corrupted!

    Hi there,
