Ipad2 connection to appleTV

Hi!
I have a connection problem with my ipad2 and my apple tv: My ipad2 (ios5) connects to apple tv only if i shut the pad down and then turn it on again.
After turning the pad on apple tv is regogenzied and everything works fine.
But after i turn apple tv off and on again the connection ist lost until i turn off and on the pad again.
So: Every time i want to use the ipad on apple tv i have to tuen off/on the pad...
Apple tv is connected with a lan cable to the network. the ipad uses wifi.
Has everyone an idea?
Regs,
Marcel

Hi,
turning off means to bring it in "stand-bye mode". I have apple TV2 and after an hour it turn in a standby mode (or i have to press a button on remote control). But i have the same phenomenon if i turn the ipad in "standby mode" (closing the cover oder pressing the "off" button). After that the icon "apple tv" disappears from the menu... Then i have to turn off the pad / turn it on again and then everything works fine...
Regs,
Marcel

  • Could my ipad2 connects to the Internet using SIM card or USB Modem?

Could my ipad2 connects to the Internet using SIM card or USB Modem?

If you have a 3G iPad, it can connect to the internet using cellular data. As the iPad has no USB port, you can't connect a USB modem. You can use what is called a MiFi, though. They connect to cellular service and create a personal WiFi hotspot.

  • Airport Express seems to prevent iPads from connected to AppleTV via AirPlay

I posted this in the AppleTV forum before narrowing the problem down to my Airport Expresses. (iPad won't connect to AppleTV)
    Here are highlights:
Airport Extreme extended by two Airport Expresses both connected via Ethernet
Two ATV3, one wireless, the other Ethernet. AirServer running on 2008 Mac Pro
iPhone 6 and iPhone 5S can easily stream video via Airplay to any ATV
iPad Air and iPad Mini Retina don't see ATVs in AirPlay menu but do see AXP.
If AXPs are unplugged from power, AXP still shows up in AirPlay menu until iPad is either restarted or the wi-fi turned off then on.
Once the AXP "disconnects" from AirPlay menu (when AXP is powered down) all ATVs in the house show up in AirPlay menu.
    Any ideas?
Took the iPad to Genius bar and it worked fine. When at office, I see all ATVs. At home, no ATVs when AXP are live. Been dealing with this for two months!
    Thanks.

... It is very possible that you may have some form of Wi-Fi interference that has been introduced recently in the immediate area that is preventing your AX from getting a good clean signal from the AEBS.
I suggest you perform a simple site survey, using utilities like MacStumbler, iStumbler, or AirRadar to determine potential areas of interference, and then, try to either eliminate or significantly reduce them where possible.

  • Ethernet connectivity problem appleTV 3rd gen to airport extreme 5th gen

I have an airport extreme connected with Tivo via a Trendnet ethernet plugin adapter via electrical outlet, and it works fine.  When trying to connect my AppleTV 3rd gen to another ethernet port of airport extreme with another faster (85mbps) Trendnet ethernet adapter via a different electrical outlet, my extreme goes from green light to flashing amber light and my wifi stops working.  Only when I disconnect the ethernet and start using wifi for my appleTV, will the airport extreme start working again.  It's driving me nuts.
My setup is ethernet (no cable modem or DSL modem) with the ethernet cable that supplies internet to my house coming through a router device (I think it is?) that is plugged into my airport extreme.  However, I do have a double NAT setup as my ethernet service has its own NAT too.  I tried switching from DHCP and NAT on the airport extreme to bridging mode as recommended, but then my internet doesn't work and I get a flashing amber light.  So I went back to DHCP and NAT on my extreme and am ignoring the double NAT, and so the wifi works fine now.
I have done multiple hard resets of all devices involved including the appleTV, airport extreme (I have set up my network at least 10 times) and have unplugged my router device and disconnected the ethernet cable supplying internet to the house as well.  Nothing seems to work.  I called tech support, and originally thought that my 3rd ethernet port wasn't working, so they mailed me another unit, which doesn't work as well (in fact, I keep getting a message to unplug my cable or DSL modem or disconnect the battery pack to cycle it no matter what I do but that is for another time).
Would greatly appreciate any help.  Thanks.

If the Apple TV was originally setup for WiFi, I suggest that you reset the device back to default settings and then configure it again with Ethernet plugged in. Settings > General > Reset > Reset Settings
As a test,  connect a spare Ethernet cable of any length (that you know is working) from the LAN <-> port on the AirPort Extreme to the Apple TV for the setup.
Setup the ATV again and double check to make sure that it is operating correctly
Change the location of the ATV back to the desired location on the network behind the powerline adapters
If you have a problem now, the first thing to check is the powerline adapter and or wiring

  • ITunes won't connect to AppleTV anymore

For some odd reason, when I click the airplay button on the bottom-right of iTunes to connect to my AppleTV, it no longer connects. It will keep saying "Connecting to AppleTV..." but after about 60 seconds, the dialog box goes away and it's not connected. I am, however able to see my Macbook from my AppleTV and play the songs there.
Anyone know how I can get it to connect? I'd rather choose the songs that play through the AppleTV right on my laptop than having to do it thru the AppleTV interface.

I'm not having any luck with the solutions suggested here. I have unplugged ATV2, then reset ATV2, and attempted to turn off IPV6 (although it doesn't seem to be an option with Lion OS 10.7.2). I used to be able to connect to Apple TV from iTunes and then one day it simply stopped (although it sill shows up in the Airplay box). I'm able to connect to all my Airport Expresses, and my other devices (iPhone and iPad) can connect to ATV2. But my I mac won't.
I want to connect through iMac so that I can run my music to differnt parts of the house (ATV2 + my expresses). Apple wants to charge me $30 to answer this question even though I've only had the device since June, and it worked perfectly for the first three or four months I had it. I'm at the end of my rope.
    Anybody have any other suggestions?

  • How can I stop Mountain Lion from auto-connecting to AppleTVs in my network?

Ever since upgrading to Mountain Lion my MacBook Pro automatically tries to connect to any AppleTV in the network I'm on. This is great for at home, but my office has a few different AppleTVs that are constantly sucking my audio through without any type of direction to do so on my end.
    Thank you for your help.

I don´t know for a fact, but I guess you can have your firewall block the traffic to and from the AppleTV's. You have to find out which ports to block (see: http://bowersandwilkins.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/55/~/firewall-ports -utilised-by-airplay ) and also you will need to have different location profiles for your home and work network.
    Just my two cents.

  • Iphone4 fails to connect to AppleTV very often

hi..my iphone4 fails to connect to my AppleTV very often. Sometimes it gets connected without i doing anything. Sometimes even if try connecting through the i remote, it looks for the Apple TV and then says turn on Home Sharing. My Home sharing is always on. Funny thing is sometimes when i open you tube etc, it already shows the Airplay icon. Other times (When i really need it), the Air Play icon is missing....Pls help.

A Gen4 TC should not run too hot.. yes, when backing up with the disk running for extended periods then they do run pretty hot.. but once the disk spins down they should cool off..
Is the disk spinning down?? Stick your hand on it and feel... stick your ear over the fan area.. right behind the power socket and listen if the fan is running.. on a gen4 it should.
Raise the TC on pencils or chop sticks or erasers or bottle tops.. make sure it doesn't sit on the bench.
If you are running the latest firmware.. go back. In fact on a 12month old TC you might be able to go back to 7.5.2 firmware. (hold the option key when you select firmware updates, to show all possible updates and downgrades.)
The latest firmware offers nothing but trouble.. for the vast majority of people.
Do you still have AppleCare on a computer.. that will cover your TC as well. Take it back to Apple if you are worried..
There is no difference whatsoever between the two model TC except the size of the drive.

  • No connection between AppleTV and IPad.

I have installed itunes on another PC far away from my AppleTV device, so I tried to connect ATV to my TV but it did not work.
I have no connection between my IPad and my TV.
How can I manage this ?

Could be a network issue. Check firewall, security software

  • Sony RPLCD TV not accepting HDMI connection from AppleTV

I have a rear projection LCD Sony KDF-55wf655 TV and have had it for years. I had my ATV hooked up to the TV through an HDMI switch in my AV closet. All was good, everything worked perfectly. I then decided to move my components out of the closet and under the TV. So now I have everything connected, just close to the TV. I cannot get the Sony TV to display the output from the ATV over HDMI. I connect the ATV via component and it works great. I take the ATV upstairs to my plasma and HDMI works great. I tried resetting the ATV to factory settings, didn't work. I tried resetting the Sony TV, didn't work. I tried unplugging and replugging everything in every order, didn't work. I'm not sure what else to do, but it seems it's something in the Sony TV not allowing the HDMI connection now...but why? What can I try? I'm desperate.

Anyone have any ideas I can try? Still would love to get HDMI working from my appletv on this one set. My Panasonic plasma has no issues playing HDMI from my ATV.

  • Airplay mirroring automatically connecting to AppleTV

My Macbook Pro is randomly connecting to my AppleTV.  I do not notice until I try to use the sound on my MBP.  Even though I continually set the airplay mirroring to off it continually will automatically connect to one of the TVs.  Anyone else having this issue?

    Hey,
I'm using the exact same setup for my car, and am facing the exact issue.
I suspect the problem is from how YouTube app works. All the "What I am able to do" and "What I am NOT able to do" make me believe that when Airplay-ing a video with YouTube app on iPhone, it sends the url to Apple TV, asking Apple TV to download the video directly over its own network. With our network setup, the router is not connected to any internet source, resulting in endless spinner on screen.
I'm not sure if there's any workaround solution without turning on Hot Spot... please let me know if you found any.
