  • MUSIC WIPED OUT!  HELP!

#1: I loaded 2400 songs on my IPOD and it jams up the whole IPOD....like it uses the whole 60Gigs....I thought this friggin thing was supposed to hold 15000 songs!!!!
#2: After I loaded my music onto the IPOD...I cleared my library in ITUNES....like..duh...don't want that jamming up my whole friggin hard drive!

So...is this for real? I mean..****...I like my Creative labs 40G better....I can load MORE music on it (same 2400 songs only take up about 10G on it)...I dont' lose my music every time I hook it up to it's program that has nothing in the library. I can move individual songs OFF my IPOD...can't with this...it's either an all or nothing piece of crud!
Help....am I crazy or does this thing suck?

"#1: I loaded 2400 songs on my IPOD and it jams up the whole IPOD....like it uses the whole 60Gigs....I thought this friggin thing was supposed to hold 15000 songs!!!!"
That would depend on what your friggin import settings are. You're appear to be importing your music at a high bitrate. This makes larger friggin files.
"#2: After I loaded my music onto the IPOD...I cleared my library in ITUNES....like..duh...don't want that jamming up my whole friggin hard drive!"
You really should keep your frigging files backed up somewhere.

    Then you're not on manual transfer. Otherwise it wouldn't do this. Check this link;

Are you crazy? That's not really up to me to decide, but if you set the import and transfer settings up properly, I think you'll be very happy with the iPod. I know I am.

  • ITunes library completely wiped out! HELP!!!

Apparently while on my lunch break the IT department at work connected to my computer. Now EVERY song and TV show in my iTunes library is gone.
I tied to acess the recovery in the itunes folder on my hard drive and that is gone too.
Any thoughts or help to get my files back?
    Thanks for any help!!

I'm afraid these are the dangers of keeping iTunes on a computer you have no control over. Do you have an iPod with the contents of your library on it? There are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:
Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    Comparison of iPod managers
If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content only from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
If you didn't make a back-up of your purchases to restore from then I'm sorry to say that the policy on lost purchases is that you have to pay to download them again:
"Once a Product is purchased and you receive the Product, it is your responsibility not to lose, destroy, or damage the Product, and Apple shall be without liability to you in the event of any loss, destruction, or damage." iTunes Store: Purchased content can be downloaded only once
You could try contacting the iTunes Music Store Customer Service and you might be able to persuade them to sanction a second free download. There have been occasional reports in the iTunes forum of this happening, however just be aware that they are not under any obligation to do so. If you click on the link at the bottom of this page you'll be able to email your query: iTMS Customer Service

  • Error while updating software on iphone and it got wiped out, now what?

I was updating my iphone software through iTunes, and there was an error.  Now my iPhone won't even show a screen, just an image of a USB cable pointing to an iTunes logo.  I rebooted both phone and computer. Nothing.  I uninstalled iTunes and all related software per Apple instructions and reinstalled iTunes.  Reconnected and...Nothing.  Now I am screwed.  I can't even use my phone as a phone let alone anything else.  Good news is I do have everything that was on it backed up -just how do I get my phone to work again?

  • My iPod songs are automatically wiped out again!! GRRR..

My iPod songs are gone. How can I have have them back without having to upload songs again?
This is the second time it happened. My iPod still had 60.9 MB space in it before my songs disappeared.
When I plugged my iPod into the PC today, it was charging. Then a few minutes later, the iPod (still plugged into the PC) started beeping. At first I don't know where the beep was coming from. When I finally realized it came from my iPod, it was too late to check what message it says on the screen. And when I open the iTunes, it prompts me to fill up the iPod Set-Up Assistant (which means that I have to start all over again transferring songs to my iPod? No way.). I can't find the songs in my iPod anymore. All of them have been wiped out now.
The weird thing is, even with all the songs wiped out, iTunes still says that I only have 60.9 MB of memory in my iPod. It seems that the songs are still there but won't just show up. Because they still occupy the memory of my iPod. My Notes are still in the device, I can also access the files stored in the External Memory.
The first time it happened, I did a Restore and had to download the songs from the Internet again. Now that I don't have the music files in my PC anymore, I don't want to do a Restore because I don't want to download songs again.
    Please help me fix this.

1.If you are using some kind of file sharing program to put songs on your ipod, this might be the problem.I had a similar situation. If you delete some songs from your file-sharing program itunes wont be able to find the songs and wont play song(just on itunes),ir that the host of the song might've deleted the song himself from other to share.
2.Make sure your itunes is up-to date,or you ipod is having hardware issues(this might be the cause if you dont use a file-sharing program). You need to put you ipod on disk mode. For more info. go on support.
3.This step can maybe work, but i know it wont.just blow the usb cord just to make sure it is not dusty.
4.This might also be why your songs get wiped out.You probably need a new usb cord, but first try every way you can to fix this issue before buying a new usb cord.also depends how old your usb cord is.

  • Apple tech helped me 60 min ago. Told me to create new account for wife. Wiped out her ipod music--now iTunes wont let me download it in her new account so I can restore her music!  Help!!

Today an Apple tech helped me 60 min ago. Although my wife and I have diff apple ID's, our music was mixing and syncin back and forth.  The tech told me to create new comp user account for wife which I did. I wiped out everything on her ipod and signed in under her ID.  When I tried to put it back I got a message that I couldn't download her purchased music for 90 days because there was another apple ID associated with my computer.  Not sure wether that means mine or hers.  What I am sure of is that I'm dead if I can't get her music back.  Please help.  Thanks,  Craig

I can understand how that would be frustrating. If you created a brand new Apple ID for her, your Apple ID should not have been affected any more than anyone else's. They are as separate from one another as your Apple ID is from mine.
Since you just bought your MacBook Air, you can certainly contact AppleCare for this, and I encourage you to do so. They will straighten it out.
Until then, if you want to troubleshoot this on your own, sign in to your Apple ID here:
    https://appleid.apple.com/
Click the blue "Manage your Apple ID" button. If it says it no longer exists or gives you other hassles, it's probably not worth your effort to pursue. Have Apple fix it.
Contact Apple starting with this link - never Google it: http://www.apple.com/support/
    Navigate the pages as follows:
Under "Contact Us" click the blue "Contact Support" link
Click the blue "Get Started" button
    Click "More Products & Services"
    Click "Apple ID"
Click "iTunes Store, App Store or Mac App Store"
Continue with the appropriate options and choose the contact method most convenient for you.

  • Got my Iphone unlocked recently and now when inserted new sim, all the apps got wiped out, tried syncing it again from itunes but still it isnt getting installed. Can someone help?

    Hi,
Recently I got my Iphone unlocked. Earlier I was using it on ATT n/w. After unlock i am using it in India with a service provider here.
The problem that I am getting is, the phone was able to pick up the network and am able to make calls and messages. Data plan is still to be activated so cant confirm on that, but all the apps that were there on my phone got wiped out on its own. Since I wasnt sure as to what happend, so I reinstalled the apps today morning. I saw the apps getting installed and then left to get ready for my office. after nearly 30 mins I saw nothing was getting syncronized so disconnected the phone and left for Office. On reaching office when I checked for my usual Apps, I could see only the apple apps and none other available there. Need to know whats the issue and how to resolve it. Please can someone help me on this?

I can not get to iPhone screen, so no way to get to Settings. That is the problem. When I connect phone to iTunes I get screen asking to insert SIN card. On the phone I'm getting Cinfigure screen asking Launguage , Country or Region, Wi-Fi, ( I can connect to my home wi-fi), and last screen "Activating your iPhone". After two minutes of waiting IM getting message: Your iPhone could not be activated because the activation server in temporary unavailable. try connecting to iTunes or try later or contat apple.com/support.
Like I mention, I went to Bell as well Rogers store and tried to insert active SIM card with no results.
Yes, my friend unlock the phone to use with Rogers but I don't know where

  • Updated iPad2(2011) to iOS8 now iBooks crashes while reading a book. What is going on?

Updated iPad2(2011) to iOS8. Now iBooks crashes while reading a book and closes down. I have sync'd the iPad a few times but nothing changes and it will 'crash' every 5-10 minutes. What is going on?

A better solution. This worked for me and several others, from a post from MrsMike921 in the following thread:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/26725105#26725105
go to your settings, and first go to Safari and delete your history by scrolling down to "clear history and website data". Then go to the advanced settings and select ""website data". It should show 0 bytes. If not, clear again.
next go to iTunes and App Store in settings, and touch your Apple ID, the select sign out.
AFter you you sign out of your ID, restart your iPad by holding down the power button and home key simultaneously until you see the apple logo after the restart.
when you are powered up, go to iBooks. You should get a message that you need to sign in to sync up your books. Sign in, and that should do it.

  • I had this guy load a not completed 10.4 on my pwr macG4. I found my cd of 10.4 and loaded onto the one that he had. Wiping out everything that I had on my 10.4. Now I loaded a update mac OS Z 10.4.1

I had made a mistake & trusted this geek, & did not know that he had gotten the 10.4 from someone else's mac. I did find my CD with 10.4 and reloaded it not realizing it that I had wiped out all of my downloads from apple. That included all the security's, upgraded 10.4.11, safari 4.1.2, quicktime Version 7.6.4. Now when I go into the internet SAFARI gives me a lot of trouble and will cop out of things. Nothing works. I cannot download Adobe Flash Player. I will call Adobe for this problem. But I do not have a PDF (that I learned that Adobe doesn't support).
I hope  that someone can help me.

Is this question truly answered?  You have marked it as such, so now people looking to assist others are unlikely to open the topic.  Also realize that you asked it in the middle of the night in the USA where many (but not all) people who can help you are asleep.  Then you also asked it at a time of year when many people are away from their computers and doing holiday activities.  Be patient.
We need to know more about your particular computer model. Go to the Apple in the upper left corner > About This Mac > More, then copy and paste the main information there but omitting the serial number.
The guy getting 10.4 from another Mac actually doesn't matter.  It's either a retail version disc in which case it will install on any G4, or it is a machine specific disc in which case it will refuse to do anything to your computer.  Of course installing will revert the computer to the original software versions that were on hte installer disc, so you ned to update those.  Most can be downloaded directly from Apple. Here's my long post on updating:
    *Updating*
Certain steps appear to minimize the risk of an update producing problems.
Number one is to make sure you have a bootable clone backup of your computer in case you do need to back out of it again.  This is the only guaranteed way of not having to worry about the results of an update.
Some like to boot from their installer discs or an external backup and verify (and if necessary repair) their internal drives as well as drive permissions. This is done with Disk Utility. You can verify a drive while booted from the same drive but sometimes this produces spurious errors. Repairing a drive (if necessary) has to be done while booted from another disk.

You can also go to the step of booting into safe mode to do the install.

[Safe Boot takes longer than normal startup|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107394]
I like to download the update onto my computer and install it from there rather than let Software Update do it. I know a few people who had problems with doing the update via software updater found a manual install to work.
    Repair permissions again afterward.
It helps to only install one update at a time and to run the computer for a while to make sure it is behaving well.
The more cautious even like to unplug third party peripherals (see [comment by BDaqua|http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=9040746#9040746]).
Almost all of the above steps (except backup) have been questioned (e.g., [Permissions repair|http://www.macworld.com/article/52220-3/2006/08/repairpermissions.html]) as to necessity. Probably many people have done successful updates without doing them. I say they can't hurt, they can very likely do good (especially if your computer isn't regularly maintained), so why not do them to be safe?

You will have a lot of updates to do, so do them one by one, testing in between.  Start with "Combo" 10.4.11 updater PowerPC-based Macs - http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosx10411comboupdateppc.html
Flash will be the messiest because, as you have observed, Adobe does not make it easy and it is also the most finicky.
    *Flash Player for PPC Macs*
Adobe's last release of Flash Player for PPC Macs was in November, 2010 with release 10.1.102.64 Subsequent releases are for Intel based Macs only.
To check your installed version of FlashPlayer - http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about
    To update you should download:
Flash uninstaller: [http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/865/cpsid_86551.html#prob1=uninst,os=m10.6,] Make sure you get the right one.
Flash installer 10.1.102.64 [http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/installers/archive/fp_10.1.102. 64_and_9.0.289.0_archive.zip]  Open the archive to reveal yet more archives and multiple files. Select: flashplayer10_1r102_64_ub_mac.dmg
    To install:
    1) Run Disk Utility and verify your hard drive.  If the hard drive reports errors then it will need repairing first (another topic).  If it verifies, run Disk Utility's repair permissions.
    2) Back up your hard drive, ideally to a bootable clone. A bootable clone will allow you to restore your hard drive to its original state should something go wrong.
    3) Quit all applications to ensure nothing is actively using Flash. You can even do the next step while booted to Safe Mode to make sure.
[Mac OS X: Starting up in Safe Mode|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107393]
[What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode? (Mac OS X)|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1564]
[Safe Boot takes longer than normal startup|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107394]
    4) Run the uninstaller application. Adobe says, "Adobe recommends that you restart your computer before you install a different version of the player."
    5) Run the installer application from the .dmg file you got from the second download.
    6) Use Disk Utility to repair permissions on your computer. this is important when installing anything from Adobe.
    7) Restart your computer.
    Notes:
Adobe installs things all over your computer. Simply dragging a file or two to the trash won't ensure you have uninstalled all old file components.

I forgot my password I typed it in three times wrong and then a few minutes after that by itself all the memory had been wiped out. The problem was I needed my contacts and I had very very valuble photos on there that I can't have back now I also bought stacks of ring tones and now they are gone too so I wasted money. Please can anyone tell me how to get my memory back??? That would really help.

  • Palm Treo 650 Sync wiped out my address book--HELP!!

Got a replacement Treo 650; went to do my first hard sync. Not only did calendar not port over, but it completely wiped out my entire address book (except for two records created yesterday). Freaked out!! All my iSync settings are the same as previous and have always worked. What to do? Thankfully I still have my old Treo 650 with address book intact, but no one seems able to tell me how to reverse port that address book to my MacBook Pro.
    Pul-eeze someone help me!

This was likely caused by introducing an 'empty' Treo into your synchronization framework with the same HotSync name and without having reset the framework before doing so. The framework properly recognized the new devices as the old—but now empty—device, and removed all of the records from iCal and the Address Book as it should have.
Simply backing up both databases using the built in facility to do so, or assigning a new HotSync name to the replacement device would have either allowed you to immediately recover from this unforeseen consequence, or to have avoided it entirely.
Before you do anything else, you should read this document so that you understand how the synchronization framework operates.
Then, reset the framework by launching iSync, opening the Preferences… pane, and pressing the Reset Sync History… button. This will leave your sync clients registered and your data—such as it is at this point—intact, and set the truth database to appear as if you have never synchronized at all. When you attach your identically named original device, be sure that you choose to Merge data with your computer and not to Replace the data on it.
Once you have merged the data, open iCal and the Address Book and make any changes that you wish to to your data, then pause to back each database up using the built-in option in each application to do so. Synchronize once again, and you changes will not only have been backed up, but distributed across your synchronization pool.
