  • Ipad2 dropping wifi

Ipad2 dropping wifi. There is no rhyme or rhythm to when this happens. Sometimes it takes minutes to get it back, and sometimes much much longer. Sometimes it looses the wifi connection just after it connects. This just started the last 4 months or so and I've had this iPad since it came out.

It might have nothing to do with your equipment but try unplugging your router for a few minutes and see what happens

  • Ipad2 dropping connection with WPA2

I recently changed my FIOS connection to WPA2, and my Ipad 2 keeps dropping connection after a few min of play.  I have no issues with my Ipad 1, Iphone, and Itouch connecting to it. It seems to only happen with the Ipad2.  My wireless is set up with WPA2 AES encryption using the standard FIOS router.  It is not a distance from router issue either.  I have been right next to the router with all the devices and still only have the issue with the Ipad2.  I restarted the router, deleted the connection and reconnected to the router also.

IPad dropping WiFi every few seconds after updating iOs to version 5.x
I have the same problem with my iPad 2. It was working fine when my iOS was v.4.3.3. After updating the iOs to version 5.0.1, I kept dropping my WiFi & Internet signal. I am using WPA2, and my SSID is OFF (does not broadcast).
To solve the problem, I updated iOs to v5.1. Same problem occurred. I tried using the OpenDNS as suggested.. Did not work too. WiFi stays on for 5-10 seconds before saying signal was lost. Tried to log on again - iPad replied that I cannot join the network. Tried soft & hard reset, forgetting network settings, resetting all network Setting, etc - still nothing works.
Finally, out of frustration, I turned ON my router's SSID (broadcasting openly). Guess what? My iPad WiFi is working perfectly without any dropped connection.
Please try this quick solution. It may just fix your problems. I realized that this solution may be effective for some iPad users out there.  But there is a chance it may not work with others (I tried almost all suggestions in other forums - ranging from updating the wireless router firmware, using an OpenDNS, doing a soft & hard reset of the iPad, etc. Still, nothing worked for my iPad - except this simple SSID setting). Hopefully, this additional solution might help someone. Good luck :-)

  • IOS 5 and ipad2 dropping wifi connection

After applying the update my ipad2 keeps briefly dropping the wifi connection and then reconnecting, although sometimes it prompts me to choose which network to connect to. No problems before the update and all other devices are connecting fine. Any thoughts?

    I have fixed my problem...
I turned off my wireless router and back on again and now its working fine..
after spending ages resetting to ipad and mucking aroung with my home router settings, all I had to do was to turn it off then back on..
    Hope this helps others..
    yep, same issue here.....
I changed my router channel and it fixed the problem for a while...
I changed my router to wireless "n" only and it worked again for a while..
now I have not a clue...

  • Wifi for ipad2 dropping

Since 11/30/2012 my wifi at home keeps dropping ipad2 . PC still works great so Iquestion all the references to the router as the problem.  iOS 6 was updated  and worked ok using wpa2,  Tried changing cookies, location,  what is the problem.  tried reset so many times I cannot remember,  Seems to be confused if there are multiple wifi available but not sure.

    Try #5.
    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

  • IPad2 dropped on the floor.

Ipad2 was dropped on the floor.  Now the screen is dominated in red tones.  Can this be easily fixed?

Anecdotally, if a jarring knocked something loose, a jarring can put stuff back into place. Some people have reported a smack or two on the back can help. But do it at your own discretion, because it can jsut as easily go the other way.

  • My wifi connection for ipad2 drops all the time  the wifi on iPhone sitting next to it works. Help

  • IPad2 dropping wi fi signals

iPad 2 unit dropping the wireless signal. A reset did not fix the issue. It does get the signal but keep dropping signal 2 or 3 times in 10 minutes. Can not connect to safari or app store.

Have you tried turning off your router for approx 1 minute then switching on and trying again?

  • IPad2 drops wifi; iPad3 works great

in my house, (avg sized home) I can use my iPad2 in the first half of my home. The router is located in the front of the house, if I use my iPad in the back of the house, or upstairs it will not pick up any wifi. In fact, when in the back half of the house, it doesn't even show my personal wifi connection, just neighbors.  But my iPad 3 works everywhere. Our iPhones work everywhere in the house.
So it is solely just my iPad2.
Prob need to head to the Apple store right? Any trouble shooting I can try at home? I don't want to have to restart my ipad everytime I go to bk of house, not sure what else I can do.
Any chances someone has heard of this? Does this seem like something that could be fixed by Apple?
Also, it's not just my house, it's when we go on vacations too.  one of our iPads picks up connection the other very minimally.

    I use a wireless extender.

  • HT1660 I I had to get my ipad2 replaced as cracked. Bought replacement in apple shop but when I got home the transfer of data that assistant did from old iPad to new was not available. How can I get this back

Can someone hep I've lost all music and photos from m ipad2 after it was replaced. Previous iPad2 dropped and cracked so had to buy new one.  I also tried to sync my iPod to my computer as had photos and music there but keep getting message that my ipos all be erased as I have another account which I don't. Anyone help.

If your old iPad had been Synced with your iTunes, it would have created a Backup.
Connect your device, right click iPad under "Devices" on iTunes left Pane and select "Restore from Backup...."
Then select the last backup from your old iPad (determine from Date n Time)

  • Is there a fix for the iPad2/iOS7 WiFi dropping issue yet?

After searching through Many threads regarding iPad2 Wi-Fi issues, I have found a lot of different "solutions" and I've tried them ALL but my Wi-Fi is STILL dropping out on me all the time. My iPad is running iOS version 7.1.2. I am constantly getting errors like
"We were unable to connect to the servers. Please try again later."
    or
    "Internet Connection Lost",
or i try to download an app and it just spins for a minute then acts as though nothing happened and the app never installs. I literally can't use any of my apps and the only way to reliably download them onto my iPad is to push it over from itunes with the ipad plugged in via usb after downloading it on my computer.
    I have tried:
1-Checking connection settings (airplane mode Off, wifi connected to correct secure home network, bluetooth Off, mobile data Off)
    2-rebooting ipad
3-making sure there's nothing running in the background by double-tapping the home button
4-removing an apostrophe from the ipad name.
5-putting the ipad into Airplane mode and then going to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
6-going to Settings > Control Center and disable Access on Lock Screen then turning ipad off and on again.
    7-updating router firmware
8-doing a factory reset, then repeating steps 1 through 6
Any other ideas?? I really need to make this work! Any help will greatly appreciated.

8-doing a factory reset, then repeating steps 1 through 6
Do you mean a restore to factory settings?. If so did you set up as new or restore from back up afterwards?

  • HT1349 How can I set up drop down menu in a cell of ipad2 numbers?

I want to set up drop down menu in a cell in numbers spreadsheet. Data validation in excel provides that. But what formula should I use in iPad2 numbers?
    Thanks!

I dont think it can be done. This thing has been discussed somewhere and so far, no solution yet.

  • Very Recent IPad2 Wifi Drops

    Greetings all;
In the last three days my IPad2 has started to drop WiFi.
My router is an original Cisco Systems labeled Linksys WRT54GL Wireless-G router using WPA2 Personal security mode.
    Wireless Network Mode is Mixed.
I have my IPhone 4S and that is not having the same issues; it also is not running many apps as well for discussion sake.
I am also up to the latest version of both ITunes and IOS.
I have taken the following steps to try to resolve issue:
    1) Cleared all settings on IPad2
    2) Change router name and let both IPad2 and IPhone 4S and any other wireless device find it new.
    3) Rebooted cable modem and router
    4) Rebooted IPad2
    5) Restored IPad2 from backup from ITunes from my PC
There are no new firmware updates available for the router.
I have seen some suggestions online including backing up the IPad2 and restoring it with a new name.
Looking for some feedback from the community before I take any steps which may include buying a new router.
Thanks in advance for any and all assistance!
    Dave D.

  • Dropped iPad2, volume display stays on max's out automatically - cannot adjust anymore?

I recently dropped my iPad2 and although most things seem to operate normally the volume display stays on and the volume automatically goes straight to max. I am traveling overseas & need to get some running repairs?
    Thanks
    Peter

Try a Reset [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release. When the screen goes blank then power ON again in the normal way.] It is 'appsolutely' safe!
